There’s been lots going on behind the scenes at Newcastle United of late, not least the restructuring that needed to occur once Dan Ashworth departed the club.

Eddie Howe’s position remains unaffected, though it’s likely he’ll want some guarantees that the way of working that he enjoyed under Ashworth continues with new sporting director, Paul Mitchell.

If not, there’s every chance that Howe could listen to the overtures from the Football Association regarding the England job.

Newcastle want Anthony Elanga

For now, he remains fully committed to life at St. James’ Park, and CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of the club’s transfer plans have indicated that the club remain interested in Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga.

The 22-year-old Swedish winger, formerly at Man United, is likely to be available for in the region of £40m-£45m, and it’s understood that Howe thinks Elanga could be utilised as Anthony Gordon’s understudy.

Anthony Elanga is wanted by Newcastle
Anthony Elanga is wanted by Newcastle

He is particularly interested in Elanga’s ability to play as a reverse winger on the right, and with ongoing interest from Liverpool in Gordon, it may be that Elanga quickly becomes a first choice for the club in the position.

Newcastle are also ready to listen to offers for Miguel Almiron, though nothing acceptable has been offered to the club at this point.

With the start of the Premier League season just over three weeks away, it’s important for Newcastle and any other club with transfer business to be conducted, to get it done as soon as practicable.

Bringing new players in right on top of the start of the season, or worse when the campaign has already kicked off, is bound to upset team equilibrium, so the sooner Newcastle can execute certain deals, the better.

Liverpool have not made any signings in the transfer market so far as they are still considering their options.

How to buy tickets for the Euro 2024 final!

They have been linked with a number of players this summer including Anthony Gordon, Leny Yoro, Rayan Ait-Nouri and some others.

There are issues in the squad that Arne Slot and the Liverpool officials will have to address if they want to challenge Manchester City for the the biggest trophies again.

One of the players who has been heavily linked to a move to Anfield is Newcastle United winger Gordon, who according to GiveMeSport, was offered to the Reds for £85m.

Newcastle were struggling financially and in order to comply with Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, they needed to offload some players.

However, since selling both Elliott Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, they have cooled down their interest in offloading Gordon and see him as a crucial part of their starting line up.

Anthony Gordon Newcastle United Liverpool
Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Gordon was willing to leave the Magpies in order to join his boyhood club but Liverpool made no such offer and since then, Eddie Howe has decided to keep the player at the club.

The report mentions that the Reds admire the player but they will not try to sign him unless his price drops and it makes financial sense for the Premier League giants.

The 23-year-old scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists last season in what was his most productive season in the league.

Liverpool should focus on other positions

Signing him makes little sense for the Reds unless an attacking player leaves the club.

Slot has the option of playing Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz on the left-wing, so signing another player for a hefty price tag to play in that position makes little season.

The Reds should instead focus on signing a new centre-back as that is an area where they need attention and a reliable partner for Virgil Van Dijk.

Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has spoken out on the future of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon as he’s linked with a big move to Manchester City.

The England international is currently at Euro 2024 with the national team, but it makes sense that he’s also making headlines for off-the-pitch reasons this summer after some impressive form during his time at St James’ Park.

Gordon was linked strongly with Liverpool earlier in the window, while we’ve also heard some stories about Manchester United and Chelsea, the latter of whom were also really keen on him back in his Everton days.

Now the talk is mainly about Man City, and talkSPORT pundit Bent has expressed his worry for the Magpies, warning them that interest from Pep Guardiola’s side could be hard for the player to ignore.

“Pep has looked at him and you know what Pep is like,” Bent said.

What next for Anthony Gordon?

“It must be incredibly difficult, and even though Newcastle is a big club, when a side like Manchester City comes calling and a coach like Pep. You know what Pep can turn you into, so it doesn’t surprise me.

“If Pep sees something in Anthony Gordon that he likes, then it’s going to be incredibly difficult if they really do pursue that and for them to keep him.”

Newcastle have also seen star players like Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes linked with bigger clubs this summer but have so far managed to hold on to them.

Despite being admirers, Liverpool, according to recent reports, are not expected to bid for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

That’s according to the NY Times, who claim the Reds will not make any formal offers to sign the former Everton winger due to Newcastle’s high valuation.

Currently away on international duty with England and preparing to be part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for a huge semi-final clash against the Netherlands on Wednesday, Gordon, 23, has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent times.

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is liked by Liverpool.

And although the 23-year-old is far from a nailed-on senior international starter, the Magpies will be aware of his rising reputation.

Recently linked with a surprise switch to Anfield, Gordon, who is a boyhood Liverpool fan, has seen his future speculated. However, still with two years left on his Newcastle deal following his switch from Goodison Park 18 months ago, the energetic forward is in no position to force a move.

And for Newcastle, this is good news as the club cannot afford to lose another one of their best players in the same window Bruno Guimaraes has seen his £100 million release clause expire.

A new era is already underway at Anfield with manager Arne Slot taking charge of the club following Jurgen Klopp’s surprising exit.

The Dutch manager is now identifying transfer targets this summer in order to improve the level of the team and challenge for trophies again.

As per the Daily Mail, Liverpool were offered the opportunity to sign Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon this summer.

The Magpies were looking to sell players in order to comply with Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

However, after the sales of Elliott Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, their financial concerns have been eased and they are not desperate to sell players now.

Gordon keeps getting linked to a move to Anfield with his head reportedly turned by Liverpool’s interest.

If the Merseyside club want to sign the pacey winger, they would have to match Newcastle United’s high valuation.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport:

“As soon as the Anderson and Minteh deals happened, the door was shut. Now Newcastle view Gordon as near untouchable. So, the only way the Liverpool move will happen is if they meet the £100million valuation.

Anthony Gordon Newcastle United Liverpool
Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon has been linked with a move to Liverpool

“Liverpool sources had always indicated, long before the deadline, that as much as they liked the player, they were not prepared to do that. I think Gordon will come back from the Euros and have to put his head down and focus on Newcastle.

“I think we should say as well, as much as Liverpool is indeed a move that Gordon would relish, he’s not unhappy at Newcastle, either.”

Liverpool should stay away from Anthony Gordon move

It does not make sense for Liverpool to sign Gordon for that amount, considering they already have wide options like Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah at the club.

Even if they want to sign him, the Magpies have no intention of selling the England international, who has quickly become one of their most important players.

The Reds need a new defensive midfielder and a central defender and that is where most of their transfer budget should be spent.

Slot wants to build a team that can end Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League, just like his predecessor Klopp did a few years ago.

Manchester City have joined the race to sign Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon this summer, according to reports.

Gordon joined the Magpies from Everton in January 2023 and after a slow start at the club — scoring just one goal in his first 16 Premier League appearances — he exploded into life last season, registering 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 outings across all competitions.

That return was enough to convince Gareth Southgate to take the 23-year-old to Germany as part of England’s squad for Euro 2024 — playing one match at the tournament so far.

More than that, Gordon’s form on Tyneside has sparked serious speculation regarding his future at the club, with Liverpool reportedly already tabling bids.

Manchester City to join the race for Gordon?

According to Football Insider, four-in-a-row Premier League champions Manchester City have now registered their interest in Gordon.

Their report states that Liverpool are faltering in their approach due to Newcastle’s high demands, which could now open the door for City, with Pep Guardiola understood to want a “lethal” forward signed this summer.

Gordon won’t come cheap, with his current deal at St. James’ Park set to run through June 2026. However, City may well need to future-proof their forward line, with Kevin De Bruyne entering the final year of his contract and doubts over the futures of Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon but they are looking at potential alternatives as well.

Liverpool are keen on the 23-year-old Newcastle winger but the Magpies are unwilling to sanction his departure for a reasonable price. Liverpool could now move on to other targets and a report from football insider claims that Nico Williams is on their radar.

The Athletic Club Bilbao winger has had an impressive season with the La Liga outfit and he scored 8 goals and picked up 19 assists in all competitions last season. He has been quite impressive in the European Championships with Spain as well.

Williams will be hoping to win the international tournament with his country before deciding on his future and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool decide to make a move for him in the coming weeks.

Liverpool are long-term admirers of the 21-year-old Spanish international and they will have to trigger his release clause in order to get the deal done.

Nico Williams has a €58 million release clause in his contract and there is no doubt that Liverpool certainly have the financial muscle to afford him. The 21-year-old has been linked with clubs like Barcelona as well. However, it is fair to assume that Liverpool have more financial resources compared to the Spanish club and they will be in a better position to sign the winger if they are truly keen on him.

Nico Williams could fancy Liverpool move

A move to the Premier League will be an exciting opportunity for the player. It would be a major step up in his career and he would get to showcase his qualities in English football.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they have a proven track record of competing for trophies on a consistent basis. Williams will look fulfil his ambitions with the move to Liverpool if the opportunity presents itself.

Meanwhile Liverpool are keeping tabs on the PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko as well. He could be a cheaper alternative to the Spanish international this summer. Liverpool need to improve their attacking unit if they are serious about competing with clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City.

Someone like Williams could transform them in the final third with his pace, trickery and ability to find the back of the net.

Liverpool are keen on signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and they are now looking to submit an improved offer for the player.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have had their first offer rejected for the winger and they are plotting a second offer for him now. That 23-year-old is highly rated at Newcastle and they are demanding a huge sum of money for the player. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are ready to break the bank for him.

The report from Football Insider claims that Newcastle are aiming for a deal worth around £100 million with bonuses for the player.

The former Everton winger has been an instant hit at Newcastle and it is no surprise that the top clubs are keen on signing him. The England international has the potential to develop into a quality player in the long term.

Liverpool need more depth in the wide areas

Liverpool could certainly use his quality in the final third. They could lose Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz in the near future and they will have to replace them adequately. Both players have been linked with moves away from Liverpool in recent months.

Salah will be out of contract in 2025 and Diaz has been linked with clubs like Barcelona. It will be interesting to see if the Reds can hold onto them beyond this summer.

Gordon scored 12 goals last season and picked up 11 assists along the way. There is no doubt that he has the end product to play for a big club like Liverpool and he will be tempted to return to his boyhood club as well. However, the asking price could be a major problem for any club hoping to sign the Englishman and Liverpool will hope to sign him for a more reasonable price.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon this summer.

They have concrete interest in signing the 23-year-old England international and Liverpool have already spoken to Newcastle regarding a potential move. The Magpies were keen on including Jarell Quansah as a part of the deal, but Liverpool are not open to the idea.

Newcastle United are prepared to sell the player for a cash deal, but they are demanding a substantial amount of money for his services. Liverpool would have to pay a fee of around £75-80 million for Gordon and the overall deal could reach up to £100 million including add-ons, as per Football Insider.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to spend that kind of money on the player. Although the 23-year-old has been quite impressive for Newcastle since joining the club, he has done nothing to justify that price tag.

Liverpool likely to be priced out of a move for Anthony Gordon

Liverpool will need to improve the other areas of their squad as well and they cannot afford to shell out £100 million on a winger. The Reds will be hoping to sign him for a more reasonable price and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The former Liverpool youth player is likely to be keen on the idea of joining a big club and he will hope that the two clubs can agree on a reasonable price.

Gordon scored 12 goals and picked up 11 assists in all competitions last season and he has been a key player for Newcastle since joining the club. It is no surprise that the Magpies are demanding a premium for him. His departure will weaken them in the attack and they will have to bring a top quality replacement.

Liverpool have not started their transfer business yet but they are expected to back new manager Arne Slot this summer.

The Dutch manager has joined the club following the departure of Jurgen Klopp from Anfield.

He will now be given the opportunity to bring the players he likes and mould the team according to his playing style.

One player who has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds is Newcastle United and England winger Anthony Gordon.

The former Everton player is currently away on international duty with the Three Lions and he is expected to play some part in England’s quarterfinal clash against Switzerland.

However, according to a report in the Telegraph, his head is turned by interest from Liverpool and he is already talking to his England teammates about a move to Anfield at Euro 2024.

The player is keen to make a move to Liverpool and he is discussing it with his England teammates.

Anthony Gordon is talking to England teammates about Liverpool.

The Magpies have made it clear that Gordon is not for sale, since the Toon Army have already balanced their finances through the sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson.

They are in no desperate need to sell the players and they want Gordon to be a part of their future as they consider him one of their key players along with Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.

Liverpool will have to dig deep to sign Gordon

The Reds have shown that they have serious interest in the player and that is why they have gone public with their interest in the left-winger.

A deal with Newcastle United might be difficult to reach as they would either demand a hefty amount or a key player in a swap deal.

It remains to be seen what plan the Premier League giants come up with in order to bring Gordon to Anfield but the player is keen on a move and he is talking to his teammates about it.
