Adrien Rabiot left Juventus after five years and is now a free agent. To date, his main goal has been to maximise his next contract in terms of salary received, given that it will probably be his last big deal as a top player.
For this reason, he refused the renewal that Juventus offered; a three-year contract on the same wages.

Adrien Rabiot wants Premier League move

Clearly, that didn’t satisfy either him or his mother – who is also his agent.

According to CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of Rabiot’s plans, the 29-year-old is now looking for more economically advantageous proposals, and there are a number of clubs in the Premier League that remain interested in him.
With the potential exit of Casemiro in mind, Manchester United have put Rabiot among the preferred profiles to strengthen their midfield. Sources indicate that Erik ten Hag appreciates him a lot.

However, the Red Devils will face competition for the Frenchman’s services as Newcastle have included him on their list.
The reason for so doing is because it’s believed that there’s a good chance Bruno Guimaraes could leave before the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

Aston Villa are also interested, with Unai Emery asking for a new player with the specific set of skills that Rabiot possesses.Paris Saint-Germain have had contact with his mother to talk about his possible return, whilst Galatasaray have a concrete interest despite the player preferring a move to the English top-flight.

In the next few days Rabiot will make his final decision, and the saga will finally be over.

Here we go soon for Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal transfer

One of the big stories of the day is with Riccardo Calafiori and Arsenal – the ‘here we go’ is coming because there is an agreement between Arsenal and Bologna on a €40m fixed fee, €5m in add-ons, and a sell-on clause for Bologna. Calafiori had already agreed a contract with Arsenal back in June, which would be until 2029, so everything is ready for him to go to Arsenal.

Calafiori has asked Bologna to be allowed to fulfil his dream and go to Arsenal, so it will be completed in the next days. The next key steps will be between Bologna and Basel to agree on payment terms for the 50% sell-on clause that Basel had for their former player. They’re set to receive a big amount of money, and so they now have to agree with Bologna now to structure this part of the deal, while Arsenal are just waiting.

Despite some reports that the deal had stalled, the reality is that the negotiations never stopped. It was not easy, but they kept going, and now there’s an agreement. Arsenal fans can be excited by this signing – I think he can do great in Premier League, he’s an excellent player, we saw that with his form in Serie A and with Italy at the Euros also.

Another story to watch at Arsenal is that Crystal Palace will bid for Emile Smith Rowe. Let’s see if Arsenal reject the bid, like they did with Fulham, or if they will be ready to negotiate. Still, Smith Rowe looks like being an interesting situation to watch in the next days.

Another Arsenal sale could be Eddie Nketiah, who has been attracting strong interest from Marseille since last week. Now it’s true that, as reported in France, Marseille have presented a proposal to Arsenal – there is still no agreement, but there is a negotiation ongoing between the two clubs.

Manuel Ugarte to Man Utd latest, plus truth on Sancho and Mount future

There’s a chance for Jadon Sancho to stay at Manchester United – a lot will depend on the next weeks. Pre-season, feelings with the manager, performances…he has chances to stay. Interest from other clubs remains but there have been no official bids so far, so it’s still quiet. Sancho’s decision to clarify with Erik ten Hag also shows how they can be ready to continue together, but it depends on what happens in the next weeks.

There were reports yesterday about Mason Mount potentially leaving Manchester United. From what I’ve heard on the club and player side, however, is exactly the same, and that’s that Mount doesn’t want to leave Man United. He wants to do his best to show his skills at United after an unlucky first season with injuries. And United, from what I’m hearing, have no intention to sell Mount, so at the moment it’s absolutely under control and he’s set to be involved in the project of Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte said yes to Manchester United a few days ago – they’ve reached an agreement with the player and his agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Leny Yoro. Ugarte wants to go to Man United and so now they’re negotiating with PSG – also because United know that PSG are advancing well in talks to sign a new midfielder – Joao Neves.

Paris Saint-Germain have presented an official offer to Benfica for Neves – around €70m, but Benfica want more. Still, they understand that they will not get the full €120m release clause for Neves – they always tried to ask for this clause and this is why a deal didn’t happen earlier, but they now know that Neves has agreed terms with PSG.

Neves is convinced by the PSG project under Luis Enrique, and Benfica also know that PSG will not pay the clause. For now, the €70m offer is not enough, but negotiations are ongoing, and so PSG look like they could sign Neves in the next days.

So, it could be one in and one out in the PSG midfield as Ugarte is an option for Man United. However, I don’t have any substantial update on Adrien Rabiot and Man United now, despite links. The player’s camp is talking to several clubs after leaving Juventus on a free transfer, but at the moment I’m not aware of anything imminent with Man United.

Dani Olmo clause expires – what next for Bayern and Barca target?

Dani Olmo’s €60m release clause at RB Leipzig will now expire. So what does it mean? At the time of writing no one has triggered the release clause – there was no last-minute deal, it’s not happening. The relationship between Olmo and Leipzig remains excellent, and the idea remains that if Leipzig receive good proposals, even after the release clause expired, Olmo can still leave the club.

This is the idea, though of course it’s more difficult without a release clause as negotiations will be needed between interested clubs and Leipzig. Still, there is room for things to happen, even if there is nothing currently going on with Chelsea and Manchester City, despite rumours. Man City appreciate the player, but any reports of them working on the deal are fake news, they’ve not been working on the deal. Chelsea, meanwhile, believe they are already well covered with left-footed attacking players.

Still, there is interest from other Premier League clubs, so it could be an interesting situation to watch, let’s see if they will move in the next few days or weeks. Meanwhile, as I’ve previously reported, Olmo remains an option for Bayern Munich in case their deal for Xavi Simons collapses. Olmo is still on Bayern’s list, so let’s see what happens with Simons, as Olmo is still an option for Bayern.

This is nothing new – Olmo has been on Bayern’s list since May, with Max Eberl, former director at Leipzig, knowing the player very well. Barcelona also appreciate Olmo and have a good relationship with his agents, because he shares agents with Mikayil Faye, so they had the opportunity to ask about his situation. Still, for Barca, the priority is Nico Williams.

Let’s see what happens with Williams, but he’s the obsession of Barcelona right now. Negotiations are ongoing on the player side, and then let’s see what Barca decide to do with him or with Olmo eventually, but at the moment there’s still no bid.

In other news…

Alphonso Davies – Now Bayern are open to keeping Alphonso Davies and see what happens in contract talks, but if he doesn’t extend, Davies remains an option for Real Madrid in 2025, but Real Madrid were never gonna pay €50m or €60m for him when he’s just a year away from being a free agent.

Andriy Lunin – Much has been written about Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, and the reality is that he could leave Real Madrid this summer, but to name specific clubs we will have to wait for a few more days. As I said earlier in the week, Real Madrid have not received any approach for Lunin from Chelsea so far.

Julian Alvarez – Manchester City keep considering Julian Alvarez as a key player for them, so it would have to be a big proposal or there is no chance for all the clubs interested. There is no way for loan, I also saw that kind of reports. More talks between Julian’s camp and City in the next days will take place to discuss future steps.

Andreas Pereira – I don’t want to deny any colleague but I don’t have information on talks between Chelsea and Andreas Pereira, or Chelsea and Fulham so far, despite what has been reported in Brazil. Chelsea’s focus is on a right-footed winger, striker, and goalkeeper. On Pereira’s future in general, it will depend on opportunities and what kind of proposals he will receive.

French midfielder Adrien Rabiot is in talks with a number of clubs after his decision to leave Juventus on a free transfer this summer, though Fabrizio Romano is not currently aware of anything going on with Manchester United.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano gave his latest insight into the Rabiot transfer situation, explaining that although the 29-year-old is speaking to several clubs, it doesn’t currently seem that anything is concrete with Man Utd, despite what has been reported elsewhere.

Rabiot has been linked with the Red Devils in the past and could make sense as a low-cost and low-risk target for the club now, with Erik ten Hag arguably in need of an upgrade on Casemiro in the middle of the park, while it also remains to be seen if Sofyan Amrabat has earned another chance after a slightly underwhelming loan spell at Old Trafford last season.

Rabiot transfer: Fabrizio Romano on the links with Man United

Adrien Rabiot to Manchester United currently looks unlikely

It perhaps looks like Rabiot is not the priority for MUFC right now, with the club instead targeting Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte, who could be available as they try to move for Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves.

Manuel Ugarte said yes to Manchester United a few days ago – they’ve reached an agreement with the player and his agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Leny Yoro. Ugarte wants to go to Man United and so now they’re negotiating with PSG – also because United know that PSG are advancing well in talks to sign a new midfielder – Joao Neves,” Romano said.

“So, it could be one in and one out in the PSG midfield as Ugarte is an option for Man United. However, I don’t have any substantial update on Adrien Rabiot and Man United now, despite links. The player’s camp is talking to several clubs after leaving Juventus on a free transfer, but at the moment I’m not aware of anything imminent with Man United.”

Adrien Rabiot’s future is not yet wrapped up as several of Europe’s biggest clubs continue to chase the French international, however, Man United continue to lead the race.

It was reported on Friday that the Manchester club are closing in on the midfielder but there is still a long way to go before a deal is finalised.

Sources have told CaughtOffside that Rabiot’s agents are still in talks with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Liverpool. The 29-year-old’s preference is to continue his career in the Premier League and fancies a move to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag is believed to be open to the signing of the free agent and it remains to be seen if the Red Devils can get a deal done.

Rabiot wants an annual salary of around €10m/€15m and hopes to receive a three-year contract.

The former Juventus star is not the only midfielder Man United are working on as the Premier League giants are also in advanced talks to reach an agreement with PSG to sign Manuel Ugarte.

Man United pursuing Adrien Rabiot and Manuel Ugarte ahead of the 2024/25 campaign

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is the primary target for Man United, however, Rabiot’s availability as a free agent is very appealing to the Manchester club.

It is uncertain if United can sign both players but the likelihood of the English club doing this is slim, especially if they fail to move Casemiro on.

The signing of Rabiot would be a smart move from Man United given that the player is a free agent, as this would free up funds for the Manchester club to spend on other areas that need strengthening.

However, there is a lot more competition for the French international as United continue to lead the race for his signature.

French international midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.

The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired earlier in the summer. According to a report from the Italian publication Tutto Juve, he is now closing in on a move to the Premier League with clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur keen on securing his signature.

Rabiot has proven himself to be a key player for club and country over the years, and he should prove to be a quality acquisition for the two North London clubs. Arsenal need more depth and quality in the middle of the park, especially with Thomas Partey suffering from injury problems and Jorginho in the twilight stages of his career.

Rabiot could prove to be a quality acquisition for them, especially on a free transfer. He has the experience, physicality and technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League as well.

Similarly, Tottenham will have to replace players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer. The Denmark international has been linked with a move away from the London club and Rabiot could prove to be a quality alternative. The 29-year-old has proven himself in multiple European leagues in the past and he could be tempted to test himself in the Premier League now.

Arsenal and Tottenham want to sign Adrien Rabiot.

Adrien Rabiot would improve Arsenal, Tottenham

The 2022 World Cup finalist certainly has the ability to succeed in English football and the opportunity to join clubs like Arsenal or Tottenham could be exciting for him.

Arsenal will be hoping to win the league title in the upcoming season and they need more quality and experience in the side. Signing someone like Rabiot on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke. Similarly, Tottenham will hope to get back into the Champions League and push for trophies. It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs can get the deal done.

Man United are closing in on the free transfer of France international Adrien Rabiot having left Juventus at the end of last season.

The 29-year-old departed the Serie A giants after five seasons and was believed to be hoping for a move to the Premier League. That looks like it is about to become a reality for the midfielder as French journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin reports that Rabiot is getting close to joining Man United.

Erik ten Hag is looking to add a new midfielder to his squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign as the future of Casemiro at Old Trafford remains up in the air.

The journalist states that Liverpool also held discussions for the France international but the former Juve star preferred Man United.

The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele counters this information by stating that the Reds were never interested in Rabiot this summer and will not be signing the 29-year-old despite links to the player in recent weeks.

This leaves Man United with a free run at his signing and it looks like it could be a deal that is done soon.

What will Adrien Rabiot bring to Man United?

Should Man United sign Rabiot, Ten Hag will likely use the French international in one of the holding roles in his 4-2-3-1 formation alongside Kobbie Mainoo, should the Dutch coach stick with that formation for the new season.

The 29-year-old will be used for his physical abilities off of the ball and his tidy midfield play on it. The midfielder is a good short passer and connects play effectively for his teammates. The French man can also be used to make runs forward and often likes to move around the pitch and not stick to one position.

Rabiot is nothing exceptional as a player but is a good signing as a free agent.

The 29-year-old was trusted a lot by Didier Deschamps at Euro 2024, keeping some top players such as Eduardo Camavinga out of the team as France reached the semi-finals in Germany.

His signing also saves money for other transfers as Man United continue to add players to the squad of Ten Hag ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Man United agree terms with Ugarte, one more defender wanted

Manuel Ugarte
Manuel Ugarte

Man United have an agreement with Manuel Ugarte on personal terms, he wants the move. Now it depends on Man United and PSG to agree on the fee, while Casemiro or McTominay could leave the club with a good proposal.

What does it mean guys? It means that Manchester United after the centre-back, Leny Yoro, after the striker, Joshua Zirkzee, are also ready to work on the midfield.

The exit of Casemiro remains an important part of the story, but honestly guys, I can’t confirm anything regarding rumours that United are having trouble selling him, which could cause problems on Ugarte and so on, no.

Interest from Saudi in Casemiro remains but sometimes it just takes time to agree on contract, transfer fee and more.

United already have the green light for Manuel Ugarte as a potential new midfielder, the contract has been discussed and – this is an important detail – with the same agent who takes care of Leny Yoro, Jorge Mendes.

Jorge Mendes is still a very big name, obviously, in the market, and Manchester United also have a very good relationship with Paris Saint-Germain – another important point.

If PSG receive the right proposal this is a story that could be a concrete one in the next days, in the next few weeks.

Man United also won the race for Leny Yoro, one of the most talented defenders in the world, but it’s not over yet as United are working on the possibility to bring in another centre-back.

It will take probably some days to understand what’s going to happen with the outgoings and with the entire domino of the market for Manchester United, but keep an eye on that position because United could do something else.

They are in contact with Bayern for Matthijs de Ligt but they never agreed on the fee, they were in conversation. Jarrad Branthwaite is another player they appreciate but at the moment he’s considered too expensive.

Vitor Roque off to USA, Raphinha goes public and an important Nico Williams update

Vitor Roque and Raphinha
Vitor Roque and Raphinha

The current situation with Vitor Roque is that he’s expected to travel on FC Barcelona’s pre-season tour of the USA, then we will see what happens.

There are no talks ongoing now but we have to see what happens with Vitor based on Financial Fair Play too, it’s an open situation. This pre-season could be important for him, for sure.

Sticking with Barça, despite the rumours, I have zero information on contacts between Premier League clubs and Raphinha at the moment guys.

Also the player has gone public this week to confirm his plan to stay at Barça, so really quiet around Raphinha at the moment.

I’ve also had many questions on the situation of Nico Williams guys.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, had a meeting with the agent of the player in Zaragoza, and they’re trying to be fast on agreeing personal terms with Nico Williams, because they believe that reaching an agreement with Nico on the project, on the salary, on the contract is important.

Barça know that Premier League clubs are coming. Barça know that big Premier League clubs are already trying to understand what’s going to happen and, maybe, they hope in England that things could collapse for Barcelona because of Financial Fair Play, so that they can enter the race.

We know about the interest of Chelsea and Arsenal who are keeping a close eye to the situation. He’s still very expensive for both clubs because the clause has to be paid in one solution; big commission, big salary.

This is why, for example, one month ago, Chelsea decided to go slower on the story of Nico Williams, but in case Barcelona don’t close the deal, Chelsea and Arsenal are attentive to the situation.

Adrien Rabiot wants Premier League move, many clubs interested

Adrien Rabiot
Adrien Rabiot

Since June, Rabiot was expected to leave Juventus and it’s now been confirmed.

Juventus offered €7m net per season for Rabiot but he didn’t want to accept, he wanted to try something different. So Rabiot communicated to Juventus that he was not going to stay, and Juve already decided to move on.

He has several possibilities around Europe and his mother Veronique spoke to 5/6 clubs in recent weeks, in several countries, and they’re keeping all the options open.

I don’t want to mention all the clubs because it’s a really long list and some of them are not even concrete at the moment… it’s just talks.

For sure, the dream of Adrien Rabiot is Premier League football, so that remains a possibility – to wait for a Premier League opportunity. Otherwise he has many offers, many opportunities on the table.

Adrien Rabiot is a free agent and so is obviously a big possibility, a big opportunity and this is why many clubs are enquiring about the situation.

But what I can guarantee to you today is that Adrien Rabiot is tempted by the Premier League. His dream is the Premier League. He believes that his skills are perfect for Premier League football.

He’s a wonderful midfielder but also physical and that could be a crucial factor, so let’s see if he gets the proposal he wants.

West Ham chasing Reiss Nelson but not “close” yet

West Ham have been busy in the current transfer window and are still working as usual on several deals, including for a new striker and one more centre back.

It’s not “close” yet but for sure Reiss Nelson is expected to leave Arsenal this summer and he’s one of the names on West Ham’s list. They like him, but nothing is imminent yet as still at initial stages.

No change on Virgil van Dijk’s situation

Lots of rumours surrounding Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk, but as we already mentioned here the day after his recent statement guys, so far the situation is quiet.

Liverpool have not received any proposal, Virgil is on holiday, so again it’s quiet around van Dijk and Liverpool are waiting for him to come back from his holidays.

Now that the European Championship has concluded, confirmation has arrived that Adrien Rabiot will leave Juventus. He has not accepted their new proposal and has already left the club as a free agent.

At 29 years of age, the midfielder has the opportunity of earning himself one more big move, and it would appear that there are no shortage of clubs willing to sign him.

A mix of elegance and steel, Rabiot is the consummate modern midfielder, and will surely improve whichever team he joins next.

Adrien Rabiot wants Premier League switch

It’s an open situation at the moment, though it seems there’s only one destination where Rabiot wants to ply his trade from next season.

“Since June, Rabiot was expected to leave Juventus and it’s now been confirmed” Fabrizio Romano said to CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“His mother Veronique spoke to 5/6 clubs in recent weeks, and they’re keeping all the options open.

Adrien Rabiot to the Premier League?

“I don’t want to mention all the clubs because it’s a really long list and some of them are not even concrete at the moment… it’s just talks.

“For sure, the dream of Adrien Rabiot is Premier League football, so let’s see if he gets the proposal he wants.”

Given his stature and the physical manner in which he plays football, there’s a belief that the Frenchman will be right at home in the hustle and bustle of the English top-flight.

Unlike many foreigners who are perhaps overawed by the Premier League, Rabiot’s skill set would be perfectly at home there, and as he showed in the Euros, he will dictate the tempo of matches from the middle of the park.

As both a protector of the back four, and a marauding presence going forward, Rabiot will be a fine addition to whichever team presents him with the best offer.

Manchester United are engaged in a busy summer transfer window.

The Red Devils’ sporting operation, now led by minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has already completed the signing of young Dutch attacker Joshua Zirkzee with highly-rated Lille defender Leny Yoro also on the verge of being unveiled.

Despite spending £36.5 million on Zirkzee and £42 million on Yoro (pending confirmation), United, according to ManchesterWorld, aren’t done there.

Set to reinforce their defensive line and attack, United’s attention is now expected to turn to their midfield. Scott McTominay and Casemiro are both candidates to leave the club before the summer deadline with Fulham strongly linked with the former and clubs in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League monitoring the latter.

Consequently, should both players move on from Old Trafford, Ratcliffe and sporting director Dan Ashworth will need to sign at least one senior midfielder. However, forced to comply with the league’s strict financial regulations, the Red Devils are expected to pursue cheaper targets, and one name thought to be under consideration is free-agent Adrien Rabiot.

Adrien Rabiot has left Juventus as a free-agent.

The France international is a free agent after his contract with Juventus recently expired. The 29-year-old, who has been linked with United several times before in his career, is ‘viewed as a low-cost option’ for the Premier League giants and is one long-term target that could finally make the switch.

During his five years in Turin, Rabiot, who has also represented France on 48 occasions, scored 22 goals and registered 15 assists in 212 games in all competitions.

Manchester United are interested in Adrien Rabiot and French football expert Jonathan Johnson has suggested he could be on his way to the Premier League after leaving Juventus.

CaughtOffside recently reported on the desire of Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag to sign Rabiot this summer, and it seems Johnson expects there’s a chance this could happen as clubs in England will be keen on low-cost options like this, while it seems Rabiot himself could be open to playing in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old is a free agent after deciding not to renew with Juventus, and, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Johnson gave his insight into the player’s future after also discussing the Red Devils’ move for another French talent in the form of Leny Yoro.

While Johnson didn’t specifically mention United, it seems likely that they’re one of the English clubs who might be keen to avoid over-spending this summer, while they also have an obvious need to bring in an upgrade on inconsistent midfield players like Casemiro and Scott McTominay, while Sofyan Amrabat’s future is also unclear after an unconvincing loan spell last season.

Rabiot transfer: Premier League next for France midfielder?

“Adrien Rabiot is now out of contract with Juventus and has been linked with clubs in the Premier League in the past. He’s a rare free agent with proven quality, and in a market where there doesn’t appear to be much good value knocking about, it has to be said, so I think he’s a good option for any clubs out there who are looking to budget,” Johnson said.

“Rabiot is attracting interest, and there have been clubs keen to bring him back to England after he had a spell at Manchester City as a youngster, which many people might have forgotten. Still, I think he’ll take his time, as he’s entitled to a bit of a holiday after a long run with France in the Euros.

“Despite some speculation, I didn’t think Rabiot would make a decision whilst being at the Euros, and that’s proven to be the case. Now he still has some time to make up his mind as he doesn’t have a set pre-season to return to, so let’s see what offers he receives, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up moving to the Premier League, especially as so many of the clubs there are having to think about how to approach the market sensibly due to potential PSR infringements.”
