West Ham eyeing loan deal for £49k-a-week Barcelona player

With Julen Lopetegui now installed as the new West Ham manager, there are bound to be continuous links back to Spain and La Liga.

Though the Spaniard has worked in the Premier League before at Wolverhampton Wanderers, his real area of expertise lies in the Spanish top-flight.

Whilst it would serve no one if there was to be a root and branch clear out so that skilful continental players could be brought in at the expense of more robust Premier League stars, there’s some certainty to a handful of the former style of player pitching up in East London.

Lopetegui’s game is all about possession-based play, quick transitions and overwhelming the opponent.

That means that there’s less reliance on more physical exponents, though it’s entirely possible he might plump for a more traditional target man when the opportunity arises.

West Ham looking at Lenglet

In the meantime, it seems that the Hammers are looking to shore up their defence.

According to Sport, the East Londoners are interested in Barcelona flop, Clement Lenglet, but they face competition for the loan of the £49k-per-week ace (Capology) from Borussia Dortmund.
