It remains uncertain if Ederson will leave Man City over the remainder of the current transfer window as the Brazilian continues to attract interest from Saudi Arabia, however, the Premier League champions will not be signing a new goalkeeper.

In an ideal world for Pep Guardiola, Ederson will stay at the Etihad Stadium for another year and then leave next summer with one year remaining on his contract, but that looks under threat.

The 30-year-old is the subject of interest for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad who are in talks to complete a deal for the Brazil international. According to Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is not an easy one to complete, however, it is clear that Ederson is open to leaving the Manchester club ahead of the upcoming season.

Ederson has been at City since 2017, having joined from Benfica, and has won every trophy possible with the Premier League champions. The veteran shot-stopper seems to want a new challenge but Al-Ittihad will have to match the Manchester outfit’s valuation of the player.

Man City want £50m to part ways with their number one goalkeeper but the Saudi Pro League side have yet to match this or successfully get that price tag lowered.

The Brazilian has become one of the best goalkeepers in the world under Guardiola’s leadership and has been perfect for the Spaniard’s system, nevertheless, if the 30-year-old leaves, Man City will not be signing a new goalkeeper.

What next for Man City goalkeeper Ederson?

Stefan Ortega to replace Ederson in the Man City goal

Despite being linked with moves for Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jan Oblak in recent days, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Man City will not sign a new goalkeeper if Ederson leaves and will simply promote Stefan Ortega.

The German has been with City since 2022 and has shown his quality on many occasions.

With Ederson injured for the closing part of the last campaign, the 31-year-old stepped up for Guardiola and made arguably the biggest save of the season against Tottenham in City’s penultimate Premier League game as Son Heung-min went through on goal.

Ortega is more than capable of taking over from Ederson but Guardiola will ideally not want to lose the Brazilian goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

Manchester City could target a move for Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma according to reports, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Ederson.

It’s been a quiet summer at the Etihad for the Premier League Champions so far, with Brazilian winger Savio the only arrival to date.

Pep Guardiola’s men are currently in America for their pre-season tour as they continue their preparations for the new campaign, but they could find themselves looking for a new goalkeeper.

City could target Donnarumma

Ederson, who joined Manchester City from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017 is out of contract in 2026 and has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Brazilian had agreed terms with Al-Nassr only for the deal to collapse, but Al-Ittihad are said to be in talks over a move for the 30-year-old who is believed to still be keen on moving to Saudi.

Fabrizio Romano has described a deal as difficult and it’s believed City are looking for €50m-€60m for the goalkeeper who has won six Premier League titles.

Gianluigi Donnarumma in action for PSG.
City could move for Donnarumma if Ederson leaves.

If Ederson does depart it would leave City with a difficult decision of whether to promote Stefan Ortega to number one, or go and sign a new first choice keeper.

Ortega impressed last season when he stepped in for the injured Ederson and recently signed a new contract at the Etihad until 2026.

However, talkSPORT have reported that City could target Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Donnarumma, and add that the 25-year-old would be open to a move to the Premier League.

The Italy international joined the French giants on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021 and has made 114 appearances for the club, winning three Ligue 1 titles.

England fans are well aware of Donnarumma after he saved penalties from Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Of course any move is dependant on whether Ederson brings the curtain down on his time at the club, but it’s something City will seriously need to think about as the new season draws closer.

Ederson could be one of Manchester City’s big movers this summer.

The Brazilian is reportedly a top target for Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad. And according to leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Cityzens’ number one is ‘keen on moving’ to the Middle East — although a deal will not be an easy one to conclude.

Man City transfer news: Ederson wanted by Al Ittihad

City value the 30-year-old, who has two years left on his contract, at £50 million (€60 million) and will not accept any fee below their asking price.

Ederson to seal transfer away from Man City?

For Ederson, a move to Saudi Arabia would represent a new challenge — one that is not as high pressured as the demands of the Premier League. However, still in his prime, fans will assume the keeper’s motive for making such a move is purely financial.

Arriving at the Etihad from Benfica in 2017, the South American has played a major role in the Sky Blues’ dominance.

The commanding goalkeeper has played 332 games for the club and kept 155 clean sheets. His consistency at the back has contributed to an incredible trophy haul including six Premier League titles and the 2022-23 Champions League.

Should Al Ittihad pull of what would be a huge transfer coup, it goes without saying that City will need to sign a replacement. Although back-up Stefan Ortega has done well whenever called upon, the German is well into his 30’s and is unlikely to be trusted with the team’s number-one jersey.

Al Nassr’s move for Man City goalkeeper Ederson is currently off after the Premier League club rejected the Saudi Arabian outfit’s €30m bid.

It has been reported throughout the summer that the Brazilian could leave the Etihad Stadium as Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in acquiring the 30-year-old ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Ederson has a contract at the Premier League champions until 2026, therefore, City have demanded a €60m transfer fee to part ways with the shot-stopper.

Al Nassr have only offered €30m and as a result, the deal is currently off, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer journalist has stated that the Saudi outfit have now moved onto Athletico Paranaense’s Bento with talks already underway to make a deal happen.

It remains to be seen if any other club arrives for Ederson before the transfer window shuts as it looks like the Brazilian is staying in Manchester for another season.

Ederson staying is a big boost for Man City ahead of the new season

Although Man City were open to letting Ederson leave during the current transfer window, the Brazilian staying is a big boost for the Premier League champions as they will not have to try and replace him ahead of the new season getting underway in a few weeks.

The 30-year-old has been City’s number-one goalkeeper for the last seven years and during that time, the former Benfica star has become one of the best in his position.

Ederson is perfect for Pep Guardiola’s style of football as he is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world with his feet. Should the Spanish coach leave the Premier League next summer, the likelihood of the Brzilain leaving too is high as a move this summer now looks off of the cards.

Saudi side Al-Nassr have made an initial proposal worth €30m for Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson according to Fabrizio Romano.

It’s been a quiet window so far for the Premier League champions with no incomings at the Etihad, and the new season is just over a month away.

City have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Savio from Troyes, with the winger impressing on loan at Girona in La Liga last season.

Al-Nassr make Ederson proposal

The future of Ederson has been a topic of discussion for a number of weeks with the Brazilian attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Nassr are known to be in the market for a goalkeeper and after a move fell through for former Arsenal shot stopper Wojciech Szczesny, they have identified Ederson as an alternative target.

Romano has provided an update on the situation and said that the Saudi club have submitted an initial proposal worth €30m which falls way below City’s valuation, whilst Ederson has already agreed to move to Saudi.

He took to X.com and said:

“Al Nassr initial proposal to Man City for Ederson, worth €30m package.
“There’s big gap in valuation as Man City won’t accept this fee, they want more than €50m to let Ederson leave.
“Brazilian GK has already agreed to move to Saudi Pro League, depends on clubs now.”

Ederson arrived at City from Portuguese club Benfica back in 2017 and currently has two years remaining on his contract, with some reports suggesting the club have offered him a new deal with a pay rise in a bid to get the 30-year-old to stay.

The goalkeeper has had a decorated career in Manchester and has won everything there is to win with the club including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.

If Ederson does leave it would leave City with a difficult decision on whether they promote Stefan Ortega to first choice after impressing in Ederson’s absence last season or if they go out and sign a new number one ahead of the new campaign.

A switch to Al-Nassr would see Ederson link up with Cristiano Ronaldo and former City team-mate Aymeric Laporte.

To keep Ederson from joining the Saudi Arabian league, Manchester City intend to offer him a take-it-or-leave-it wage increase.

There has been conjecture about Ederson for a few weeks now, and there is a mounting sense that he will be leaving the club after seven years.

Ederson has been a key member of Pep Guardiola’s team, which has been the dominating force in England during the Spaniard’s time at the club.

As a result of his recent dominance, Guardiola’s team is often considered to be the finest in the world when it comes to playing out from the back and the reason behind it is Ederson’s ability to pick out a pass and keep possession of the ball.

According to The Sun, Ederson’s pay would climb by 75% as the club are set to offer him a take-it-or-leave-it offer.

The 30-year-old Brazilian is one of the finest in the world at his position, but he is now considering leaving the English champions for the enormous wealth of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Nassr are interested in signing him, and the Brazilian is eager to join them.

Ederson Man City Premier League
Ederson has been a huge part of Man City success under Pep Guardiola.

The lucrative Saudi Pro League club are ready to offer him £900,000 a week wage which has turned his head.

Out of respect for his accomplishments at the Etihad, Man City will not stand in his way if he wants to leave the club.

Man City can cope in case Ederson leaves the club

Ideally they would want him to stay and that is why they are offering to increase his wages but they have shown last season that they can survive without him when Stefan Ortega filled in for the Brazilian shot stopper.

Ederson recently concluded his time at the Copa America, thus it is likely that there will be development soon on this transfer saga.

With fewer than two years remaining on his current deal, the Premier League winners intend to sell the 30-year-old for a fee of about £50 million.

Atalanta midfielder Ederson has been linked with a move away from the Italian club this summer and Liverpool are keen on the player.

According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool could begin negotiations for the Brazilian midfielder.

The report further states that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes could play an important role in the transfer and he could use his contacts at the Italian club in order to get a deal done. The midfielder is highly rated at Anfield and the player is open about joining them this summer.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool follow up on their interest with an official proposal to the midfielder in the coming weeks. He was a key player for Atalanta this past season and he played a key role in their Europa League win as well.

Liverpool need to bring in a quality midfielder this summer, especially after the departure of Thiago Alcantara. The Brazilian certainly fits the profile and he could fill the void left by the Spanish midfielder.

The 24 year-old Brazilian will add control and defensive cover to the Liverpool midfield if he joins the club. He is valued at £45 million and Liverpool certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done.

Liverpool and Tottenham want to sign Ederson.
Ederson to Liverpool?

Tottenham keen on Ederson as well

Meanwhile, the report from GMS claims that Tottenham have also discussed the possibility of signing the Brazilian midfielder and it will be interesting to see if they come forward with an offer for the player.

Then North London club will have to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park, especially if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg decides to move on. The Denmark international has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham and he needs to leave in order to play regularly. Ederson could be the ideal replacement for him.

Manchester City could be tempted into selling two of their most senior and influential players this summer.

That is the view of the Cityzens’ former financial advisor Stefan Borson, who has admitted the likes of Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne could leave the Etihad this summer in favour of lucrative transfers to Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.

Although Ederson, 30, still has two years left on his contract, De Bruyne, 33, is entering the final 12 months of his, and yet to be offered a renewal, the Belgium international now faces an uncertain future.

Man City tipped to sell Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne to Saudi clubs

City also have a history of selling some of their best talent to the Middle East with Riyad Mahrez making the switch to Al-Ahli last summer, and Borson believes this year could see at least one more high profile departure.

“City showed last summer with the sale of Mahrez that, if they get the right price, they are prepared to sell and go again with the squad rebuild,” he told Football Insider.

“It will depend on whether City can get the fees they want. But it does look like Ederson certainly seems to be quite keen on a move.

Ederson to seal transfer away from Man City?

“There are also rumours that there has been an offer for Kevin De Bruyne, which would clearly be quite a big move. City would probably demand quite a big fee, but he only has a year left on his contract.”

Ederson is rumoured to be a top target for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, with De Bruyne thought to be attracting interest from Al Ittihad.

Should the pair leave the Etihad this summer, regardless of their age, City will be a worse team for it. The pair have played a huge part in the team’s success in recent years; boasting 31 winner’s medals between them, including a remarkable treble just over 12 months ago.

Despite winning another Premier League title in 2023/24, this summer could be one of huge change for Man City as talisman Kevin De Bruyne appears to have agreed to a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Belgian has seemingly long been courted by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and according to TeamTalk, he has ‘verbally agreed’ to a move to Al Ittihad.

Kevin De Bruyne set to leave Man City

It would bring an end to a glorious career in European football for the 33-year-old, and allow him to see out his final playing days in the relative comfort of Saudi Arabian football.

Though more and more players are now being persuaded to move to the Pro League, strengthening a belief that it will soon be amongst the world’s best, landing De Bruyne would be a real coup for PIF.

Belgium and Man City ace, Kevin De Bruyne, appears to have agreed a move to the Saudi Pro League
Belgium and Man City ace, Kevin De Bruyne, appears to have agreed a move to the Saudi Pro League

Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar remain the two biggest names to have made the leap to Saudi, and though more household names have followed, none have been in the same class.

De Bruyne can’t claim to be in that rarified air either, but he could certainly be classed as the best of the rest.

With one year left on his current deal with Man City, PIF will have to pay a fee for his services, though that would appear to be small change when one considers just how much money there is to throw at the league.

TeamTalk also note the willingness of City goalkeeper, Ederson, to join De Bruyne in a move to the Pro League, though Al Nassr are thought to be the Brazilian custodian’s destination.

Both deals need to be secured soonest if Pep Guardiola wants to be given a decent amount of time to find a replacement for De Bruyne in particular. Stefan Ortega will move up to be the number one if Ederson leaves.

Riccardo Calafiori gives green light to Arsenal, but Chelsea still in the race

The big story of the last few days is with Riccardo Calafiori and if you’ve been following on here then you’ll know since last week about the strong interest from Arsenal and Chelsea. Both clubs are really interested in Calafiori, and now Arsenal have presented their proposal to the Italy international – it’s a long-term contract, the salary is not an issue at all, and they also presented their project to the player, and he is open to joining Arsenal in case they can reach an agreement with Bologna.

So, there is already a green light from Calafiori to Arsenal, but what about Chelsea? My understanding is that Chelsea are prepared to approach Bologna, and that they will try to include players in the negotiation. It’s a different strategy, but Chelsea are still there, even if Arsenal are the favourites at the moment.

Arsenal have a shortlist with three names in that position – left-footed defenders who can play centre-back or left-back. Jorrel Hato fits the bill in that respect and also remains one of the most appreciated talents by Arsenal, but for now Ajax still insist to keep him for one more season. So, Calafiori is exactly what Arsenal are looking for in that position, and Mikel Arteta has approved the potential deal and we’re now waiting for the next step. Let’s see what will happen between Arsenal and Bologna, this is now the crucial point.

It’s also important to note that Calafiori has given the green light to Arsenal because Juventus are almost no longer in the race. For weeks and weeks, Juventus wanted Calafiori, they had an agreement on the salary with Calafiori, but they are now considered out as they cannot agree on a deal with Bologna. The truth is that Bologna are furious with Juventus after their manager Thiago Motta made the move there this summer, and so that’s why they are furious with Juve and they would prefer to sell the player abroad.

Now they have the chance, because Arsenal are there and Arteta is really keen to bring Calafiori to the club. The relationship between Arsenal and Bologna is also very good after they previously negotiated the deal for Takehiro Tomiyasu, so let’s see if Chelsea can come up with something, or if Arsenal will now win the race for one of the most talented young defenders around. Despite rumours about PSG and Bayer Leverkusen, I’m told that the only two clubs in the race are Arsenal and Chelsea, with Arsenal ahead at the moment.

It will be interesting to see his development from here, and how Arsenal plan to use him if they manage to complete this signing. He can play easily as a centre-back or left-back, he’s excellent in both positions; he was a left-back for his whole career before this superb season as centre-back last season.

What does Joao Palhinha transfer mean for Joshua Kimmich?

Joao Palhinha and Joshua Kimmich

Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich is now a ‘here we go’ as there has been a breakthrough in talks between Bayern and Fulham. Palhinha asked very clearly to be allowed to join Bayern, and now it looks closer to going through, so what could this mean for the future of other Bayern midfielders?

There has been a lot of speculation about Joshua Kimmich in particular as he’s in the final year of his contract at Bayern now, and some fans have asked me if Palhinha’s arrival means he’s replacing him.

Let’s see what happens because Bayern have still a chance to extend Kimmich’s contract. Still, the most likely scenario at the moment is for Kimmich to leave and try a new experience, it will also depend on proposals because Kimmich will explore all the options available to him after the Euros.

Truth about Liverpool swap deal and Marc Guehi links

It’s been a quiet summer for Liverpool so far, but we know there was recently interest in Anthony Gordon, and there has been some speculation about a failed attempt at agreeing a swap deal with Newcastle.

Some outlets have reported that Joe Gomez was one of the names being offered by Liverpool to Newcastle, but I can’t confirm this. Newcastle and Liverpool had a contact for Gordon, as reported a few days ago, but a swap deal was never something close or concrete, so I don’t have this information I’m afraid.

In terms of names coming in for the defence, Marc Guehi has been linked with Liverpool (as well as other clubs) several times and he’s impressing with England at the Euros. There is interest from many clubs, but nothing close or concrete yet as he wants to focus on the tournament now and not be distracted. For sure Guehi remains an interesting name for this summer with two years left on his contract at Crystal Palace.

Ederson to Saudi remains one to watch

There is a lot of movement in Saudi Arabia – the market there has restarted and we’re heading into important days. Al Ittihad also have a new manager in Stefano Pioli, and something could happen from the Premier League in the next days.

One concrete possibility is for Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson to move to Saudi – it remains the case that he has proposals from Saudi clubs, as I reported at the end of May. There are discussions ongoing between Al Nassr and the agents of Ederson, though they’re not the only ones showing an interest. Ederson is open to a move to Saudi, and Man City are open to letting him go.

Now City are waiting for an official bid from Ederson, and of course a move will depend on the financial proposal. Still, City have been aware of this possibility since May and so they extended the contract of Stefan Ortega, because if Ederson leaves, Ortega will be the new first-choice goalkeeper for Pep Guardiola and City will bring in a new backup for that position.

Real Madrid remain ready to sign Davies and Yoro this summer if the money is right

Real Madrid have had a busy few months and they have two more big names on their list at the moment – Alphonso Davies at Bayern, and Leny Yoro of Lille. So what’s the latest with these players?

Real Madrid remain very keen on Davies and never stopped contacts on the player side. However, it depends on the asking price, because if Bayern put Davies on the market for a normal fee, Real Madrid are happy to start a negotiation, otherwise they are very happy with the squad they have.

If Davies were then to stay at Bayern but not sign a new contract, then the chances for Real Madrid to move for the Canadian left-back next summer as a free agent would be very concrete. So it could either be Davies now for a reasonable price, or Davies in 2025 if he doesn’t extend his contract at Bayern.

With Yoro, the situation remains quite clear – Real Madrid want the player, and the player wants to go to Real Madrid. The message to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain has always been clear – his desire is to go to Real Madrid, so he is pushing to go there and he is ready to wait for them.

Real Madrid don’t want to pay big money for a player who’s out of contract next summer, so it’s a similar situation as with Alphonso Davies, it would also in this case need to be a fair price. Still, there is the feeling that Lille would be ready to sell the player this summer, and this is why it remains a very strong topic for this summer, with contacts taking place.

For now, the only way for clubs like Man United, Liverpool and PSG to enter strongly into the race is if negotiations between Lille and Real Madrid collapse. In that case, Yoro could open the door to other clubs, but for now Real Madrid is his absolute priority.

Crysencio Summerville to PSG links explained

There has been an interesting story coming out about PSG being interested in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville. I’ve spoken before about the expectation being for Summerville to leave Leeds after they couldn’t win promotion back to the Premier League, and I’ve also reported on Summerville to Brighton being discussed, so what about these new links with PSG?

My understanding is that the situation is: Summerville shares the same agents as Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. PSG are in talks with Geertruida on personal terms, so Summerville was mentioned during talks but there’s still no negotiation ongoing between the clubs or the player’s agents. It’s an open race with Brighton and more clubs interested.
