According to HITC, West Ham have started talks with Italian giants AC Milan to discuss the signing of defensive duo Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori.

After arriving at the club, new manager Julen Lopetegui is ready to make big changes to the squad by adding fresh faces and strengthening all the positions.

The Hammers have already completed the signings of winger Max Guilherme, goalkeeper Wes Foderingham and defender Max Kilman.

They have no intention to stop any time soon and now they are targeting a move for AC Milan’s defensive duo.

The new West Ham manager is looking to reshuffle his defense this summer after the Hammers conceded goals for fun last season in the Premier League.

Only the three relegated Premier League teams conceded more goals than the Hammers last season which makes it obvious that new defensive additions are desperately needed.

Former Chelsea defender Tomori has had a successful time in Italy and now he is open to return to the Premier League and prove himself in England.

The defender’s consistent performances for the Italian giants have often gone unnoticed in England and now he is ready show his quality in the Premier League.

The Hammers started talks to sign Thiaw before entering the discussions for potentially signing Tomori.

As per the report, the Serie A giants are open to letting both the players leave the club.

West Ham face competition from Newcastle United

AC Milan want to make new signings this summer and in order to make space for them, they are willing to let the defenders leave the club.

The Hammers face competition from Newcastle United to sign the defenders and both the clubs are expected to be locked in the battle to complete the signings.

Both West Ham and Newcastle are in a similar position in terms of signings needed at the club to improve on their performance last season.

West Ham are interested in signing AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season under new manager Julen Lopetegui, who replaced David Moyes at the end of last season.

According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers are considering a move for the former Chelsea player to bolster their defence.

West Ham’s interest in Tomori is not new, as they previously attempted to sign him on loan in 2020, but he opted to stay at Chelsea at that time.

Tomori in action for AC Milan

Tomori will not come cheap for West Ham

Tomori joined AC Milan in 2021 for a fee of £24 million and has since impressed, making 142 appearances, scoring 7 goals, and providing 1 assist. He played a significant role in helping Milan clinch the Serie A title in his debut season.

The Rossoneri currently value Tomori at €40-50 million, and with his contract running until 2027, Milan are in a strong position to demand such a fee. It remains to be seen whether West Ham will be willing to meet Milan’s asking price.

After a disappointing season for Newcastle in 2023/24, Eddie Howe and his backroom staff need to dust themselves down and go again for the new campaign.

Their enthusiasm and diligence in pre-season will arguably set the tone for 2024/25, and without the distraction of Europe this season – even if that was their aim – they may fare better this time around.

With Man United’s FA Cup win guaranteeing them Europa League football, it meant that Chelsea dropped down into the Europa Conference League place that had already been reserved for the Magpies.

Newcastle want Fikayo Tomori

As a result, Newcastle were bumped out of Europe altogether.

Given that there will be no extra midweek games, Newcastle will be hoping that the incredible injury list they had throughout last season will ease considerably, and most of their first-choice XI will remain fit for the duration.

There will be one or two transfers made during this summer, and it’s believed that the club are looking for another centre-back, despite the fact that they’ve just signed Lloyd Kelly.

Newcastle want Fikayo Tomori
Newcastle want Fikayo Tomori

According to Football Insider, former Chelsea ace, Fikayo Tomori, is now on the Magpies radar.

Currently plying his trade at Italian giants, AC Milan, Tomori has gone about his business with aplomb, away from the glare of the English media.

He has made 142 appearances for the Rossoneri, starting in 32 out of 35 games last season.

It isn’t clear if the Serie A side would be willing to part with the 26-year-old, however, with Financial Fair Play now a fact of life for every club, it may be that a decent offer from the Premier League outfit would be received favourably.

Not forgetting the will of the player, who has a Chelsea past and may decide that now is the right time to return to the English top-flight.

Arsenal are lining up a move for the former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

The 26-year-old has been quite impressive since his move to AC Milan and he has established himself as one of the best central defenders in Italian football right now.

A report from Football Transfers claims that Arsenal monitoring his situation closely and Mikel Arteta has earmarked him a target.

The Gunners have already expressed their interest in signing the player, but it seems unlikely that the player will leave this month. Milan will not want to weaken their squad midway through the campaign and any move might have to wait until the summer transfer window.

The report further states that the player’s family are Arsenal fans and that could be an advantage for the Gunners when they look to sign him at the end of the season. Tomori himself is a big fan of Thierry Henry.

He failed to make his mark in the Premier League during his time at Chelsea, and he will probably feel that he has unfinished business in England. The opportunity to join a big club like Arsenal could be an attractive proposition for him.

Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan

The Gunners are competing for the league title on a consistent basis and they will be an attractive destination for most players. The former Chelsea defender will want to win major trophies with the North London club if the transfer goes through.

The 26-year-old has the physical and technical attributes to thrive in English football, and he could form a reliable partnership with William Saliba at the heart of Arsenal’s defence.

Manchester United have been linked with a surprise move for the AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

The 25-year-old Englishman has established himself as a key player for the Italian club since joining them from Chelsea. It seems that Manchester United are now hoping to bring him back to England.

A report from Milan Web claims that the defender is valued at €40 million and Manchester United have set their eyes on the former Chelsea player. The Red Devils certainly have the financial resources to pay the reported asking price and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in the coming weeks.

It is no secret that Manchester United will have to improve their defensive unit and Tomori could prove to be a quality acquisition.

The England international defender has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League and he could be keen on a return to England if the opportunity represents itself. He will feel that he has unfinished business in English football and he will want to prove himself in the top flight.

Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan

Manchester United could part ways with the likes of Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane in the near future and they will need to replace the two players adequately.

Tomori is entering the peak years of his career and he could be an asset for Manchester United in the coming seasons. The defender could form a quality partnership with Lisandro Martinez at the heart of Manchester United’s defence for the years to come.

At the reported valuation, the defender could even prove to be a bargain for Manchester United.

England have beaten Malta 2-0, on rather flat evening for the Three Lions. However an own goal and a Harry Kane goal earnt England a victory and three points.

Rice had one chalked off, which would have made it 3-0 England, but that would have been a rather flattering scoreline for the performance from the Three Lions.

Read on for our England player ratings, and who stood out for the Three Lions…

Jordan Pickford – 6 – Didn’t have to make a save, and only made the one punch, made 41/41 passes but was un tested so can’t be rated higher.

Fikayo Tomori – 6 – Taken off at half time, played in a slightly unfamiliar left back role, becoming a back three in possession. Made two tackles and completed four out five long balls.

Harry Maguire – 6.5 – Kept a clean sheet of course, and made two clearances and one block. Also completed 10/10 long balls, and won 7/7 aerial duels.

Marc Guehi – 6 – Not to much to do, made two interceptions and made 103/106 accurate passes, with 7/8 long balls.

Kieran Trippier – 6 – Managed two tackles, one clearance and one interception at right back, also making one key pass and completing 5/5 long balls.

Conor Gallagher – 5 – Subbed at half time to bring on the more attacking Bukayo Saka, worked hard and won some duels in midfield, however was a little sloppy in possession on a few occasions.

Jordan Henderson – 5 – Subbed after 61 minutes, played 2/2 long balls and won 2/4 ground duels. Didn’t offer enough in the middle of the park when playing out.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7 – Could have created more but did get forward in central midfield, getting four shots off (two on target) and making one key pass.

Marcus Rashford – 5 – Subbed after 61 minutes, struggled to get himself in the game, had one shot which was blocked and only completed 2/6 of his dribbles.

Harry Kane – 7.5 – Scored the goal to give England a 2-0 lead, and allow them breathing room. However wasn’t as involved as he could have been, only having 34 touches.

Phil Foden – 8 – Tried to make things happen whenever he got the ball, made three key passes, completed 4/4 dribbles and looked the most dangerous player on the pitch.

Subs: Bukayo Saka 7, Kyle Walker 6 , Cole Palmer 6 , Declan Rice 6

Fikayo Tomori’s transfer market value has surely more than doubled since he left Chelsea for a move to AC Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Romano explained that this was smart business by Milan, who do not have a buy-back clause for Chelsea in their deal, which will surely come as reassuring news to fans of the Rossoneri.

Romano said: “Some Chelsea fans have also asked me about Fikayo Tomori after his superb performances for AC Milan. His value for sure must have more than doubled since he left Stamford Bridge for the San Siro.

“AC Milan have been smart in signing Fikayo, he’s a very good player and also a good leader.

“My understanding is there is no buy back clause for Chelsea, at the moment he’s 100% focused on Milan project – he signed a new deal a few months ago.”

Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan

Some Chelsea fans must be wondering why on earth Tomori was allowed to leave the club after witnessing his rise in Italy, but this is just one of many promising academy talents the west Londoners have let go in recent times

Tomori had been struggling for playing time at Stamford Bridge, so it looks like he made the right move for his career, and it will be interesting to see if he ends up back in the Premier League at some point in the future.

The 25-year-old only has three England caps to his name, which is a bit of a surprise, so returning to an English club might boost his international chances.

AC Milan take on Newcastle in the first game of Champions League Group F on Tuesday, 19th of September, at the San Siro, at 17:45 PM (BST).

In an article by The Shields Gazette, they go over the injury worries for both AC Milan and Newcastle, and the repercussions that will have on the team.

Milan are set to be missing defender Pierre Kalulu, who was absent from their 5-1 loss to Inter Milan at the weekend. Also missing was the suspended England defender Fikayo Tomori, which led to a centre back partnership of Malick Thiaw and Simon Kjaer.

The starting central defender pairing this season has been Thiaw and Tomori, and this will be available to face Newcastle as Tomori is back from suspension. The English defender will know about Newcastle, after his time at Chelsea, facing them on two occasions.

Newcastle will be without midfielder Joelinton through injury, after he sustained a knee injury whilst on international duty with Brazil, something he has struggled with previously and he is now expected to be out for a couple of weeks.

Joe Willock and Emil Krafth also remain out through injury, however Newcastle will be boosted by the returning faces to the XI of Sandro Tonali and Miguel Almiron who started on the bench in Newcastle’s weekend fixture.

Tuesday night’s Champions League semi-final second leg is a must-win for both sides, with Rafa Leao strengthening a Milan side that have it all to do against Internazionale.

In last week’s first-leg, a fast start from the Neroazzurri saw them two goals to the good to silence the mostly AC Milan populated San Siro.

With Inter holding the advantage both in goals terms and now effectively being the ‘home’ side in the same stadium, it’s going to take a monumental effort from the Rossoneri to come back.

However, they really did miss Leao’s pace and creativity, and that’s something that Inter need to guard against,  particularly in the opening exchanges.

Along with Leao, Malick Thiaw and Junior Messias come in for Alexis Saelemaekers, Simon Kjaer and Ismael Bennacer.

Simone Inzhagi’s side could live to regret not scoring a third goal last week given how on top they were during the opening 45 minutes, and they can’t afford to sit back and invite Milan on to them.

Inter start with exactly the same XI as last week, with Romelu Lukaku only making the bench.

An early goal from the Neroazzurri could kill the tie as a contest, and if the likes of Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez can get in amongst it again as they did in the opening 10 minutes of the first leg, there’s every chance a famous victory.

A sensational atmosphere awaits. Game on!

AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori and Sandro Tonali are said to be targets for Arsenal this summer as the Gunners prepare for Champions League football next season.

While the North London side still have a chance of claiming the Premier League trophy, their top four status has been secured for some time now, meaning that Champions League football will return to the Emirates after a six-year absence and as a result, Tomori and Tonali are the latest big names to be linked with Mikel Arteta’s side.

This is according to 90Min, who say that the pair have been watched by Arsenal scouts lately ahead of the summer window.

Tomori has attracted interest from Manchester United, Newcastle United and his former side Chelsea as well as the Gunners, while Tonali has been looked at by Arsenal scouts as well as Spurs and Chelsea.

Tomori and Tonali have 56 Serie A appearances between them this season

25-year old Tomori has established himself as one of Europe’s brightest defenders in a talented AC Milan side, while many view Tonali as the successor to Andrea Pirlo, the 22-year old showing an elite ability to control games for the Rossoneri having been at the club for just under two years.

Arsenal’s pulling power will certainly be elevated by their Champions League status and who knows how much more they’ll have if they manage to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title, so a move for the AC Milan pair this summer certainly cannot be ruled out, as the Gunners look to establish themselves as one of Europe’s powerhouses after not being in such a conversation for a long time.
