Exclusive: No communication yet on Man Utd star’s future following recent Barca & Juve transfer interest

Manchester United have seemingly not yet officially communicated anything on the future of on-loan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, Romano explained that Amrabat, who is currently on loan at Man Utd from Fiorentina, has attracted some interest from Barcelona and Juventus in recent times.

It wasn’t the most convincing season from the Morocco international at Old Trafford, but he performed well in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City, and some fans might still be keen for him to be given more of a chance.

Amrabat has shown in the past that he can be a top performer, so it may be worth keeping him permanently, or extending his loan if possible.

Amrabat himself hinted that his future could still be at United, and Romano has suggested that it’s still up in the air as there hasn’t been anything formally communicated to the 27-year-old yet.

Amrabat transfer update from Fabrizio Romano

“While there has understandably been a lot of talk about the Manchester United manager situation, with Erik ten Hag’s future recently looking about 50-50 for him to stay or leave Old Trafford, there was also another interesting story to follow after the Red Devils’ FA Cup final win over Manchester City,” Romano said in today’s column.

“Sofyan Amrabat had a good game for United and spoke afterwards to hint that he could still end up staying at the club. However, my understanding is that nothing has been communicated to Fiorentina or the player side yet.

“It will depend also on the manager situation, so it will be part of the review that Man United will do this week. In January, Juventus and Barcelona were interested but Man United never opened doors for Amrabat to leave.”
