Manchester City could target a move for Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma according to reports, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Ederson.

It’s been a quiet summer at the Etihad for the Premier League Champions so far, with Brazilian winger Savio the only arrival to date.

Pep Guardiola’s men are currently in America for their pre-season tour as they continue their preparations for the new campaign, but they could find themselves looking for a new goalkeeper.

City could target Donnarumma

Ederson, who joined Manchester City from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017 is out of contract in 2026 and has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Brazilian had agreed terms with Al-Nassr only for the deal to collapse, but Al-Ittihad are said to be in talks over a move for the 30-year-old who is believed to still be keen on moving to Saudi.

Fabrizio Romano has described a deal as difficult and it’s believed City are looking for €50m-€60m for the goalkeeper who has won six Premier League titles.

Gianluigi Donnarumma in action for PSG.
City could move for Donnarumma if Ederson leaves.

If Ederson does depart it would leave City with a difficult decision of whether to promote Stefan Ortega to number one, or go and sign a new first choice keeper.

Ortega impressed last season when he stepped in for the injured Ederson and recently signed a new contract at the Etihad until 2026.

However, talkSPORT have reported that City could target Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Donnarumma, and add that the 25-year-old would be open to a move to the Premier League.

The Italy international joined the French giants on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021 and has made 114 appearances for the club, winning three Ligue 1 titles.

England fans are well aware of Donnarumma after he saved penalties from Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Of course any move is dependant on whether Ederson brings the curtain down on his time at the club, but it’s something City will seriously need to think about as the new season draws closer.

Manchester City would expect £100m for Kevin De Bruyne this summer, but the Belgian hasn’t agreed personal terms with Al-Ittihad despite reports suggesting he has according to Ben Jacobs.

It’s been a quiet summer so far for the English Champions with Brazilian winger Savio the only arrival at the club, but there’s expected to be more activity on both incomings and outgoings as the new season draws closer.

De Bruyne is into the last year of his contract at the Etihad and he’s believed to be a long term target for the Saudi Pro League as they continue their recruitment drive this summer.

De Bruyne not close to Saudi move

The 33-year-old has been at Manchester City since 2015 after he joined from German side Wolfsburg and he’s gone on to establish himself as one of the greatest players in Premier League history.

It’s no secret that the Saudo Pro League are keen to recruit the Belgium international but reports that he’s agreed terms with Al-Ittihad are thought to be wide of the mark.

Jacobs has moved to clarify the situation by reporting that De Bruyne isn’t close to a move to Saudi and that City would expect £100m to part ways this summer.

He took to X.com and said:

“Kevin De Bruyne is not currently close to Al-Ittihad and hasn’t agreed to any Saudi move yet, as reported for @talkSPORT.

“KDB a long-standing Saudi target, but dealmakers know #MCFC would expect £100m this summer.”

TalkSPORT add that Saudi dealmakers would be prepared to wait until De Bruyne’s contract expires in 2025 to make a move.

The City legend has previously spoken of being open to a move to Saudi and didn’t shy away from talking about the vast finances on offer.

De Bruyne’s team-mate Ederson could be making the move to Saudi this summer with Al-Ittihad in talks with City over a move for the Brazilian.

The move has been described as difficult with City said to want €50m-€60m for Ederson, who is thought to still be keen on a move to Saudi after agreeing terms with Al-Nassr before the deal collapsed.

Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich continues to be of interest to Manchester City according to The Athletic.

it’s been a quiet summer so far for the Premier League Champions, and they have yet to make any signings, although Savio’s move from French side Troyes is expected to be announced soon.

Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to become the first side in history to win five Premier League titles in a row, whilst they will also want to get their hands back on the Champions League.

Kimmich still of interest to City

The Athletic have reported that City are looking for a midfielder to “partner or act as a deputy” for Rodri.

The report adds that Kimmich continues to be of interest to the club, and the German international is out of contract in 2025 and has yet to sign a new deal with Bayern.

The 29-year-old worked under Guardiola during the Spaniard’s time in Munich and knows exactly what to expect from the 53-year-old.

Joshua Kimmich in action for Bayern Munich.
Kimmich is into the final year of his contract with Bayern.

Kimmich was part of the Germany squad that got knocked out by eventual winners Spain in the quarter finals of Euro 2024, and he made 43 appearances in all competitions for Bayern last season, scoring two goals and providing ten assists.

it’s unclear what transfer fee Kimmich would command, but City making a move for the German international would make sense given his quality, experience and winning mentality.

The midfielder has had a decorated career with Bayern and has won the Bundesliga eight times as well as the Champions League.

Kimmich has made 390 appearances for the German giants to date following his move from Stuttgart in 2015, and has scored 42 goals and provided 104 assists.

The Athletic add that City also have an interest in Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and want to sign him, but not for anywhere near the £100m that was his previous release clause.

Atletico Madrid have advanced in their pursuit of Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez with negotiations taking place according to Cesar Luis Merlo.

Diego Simeone’s side will likely be in the market for a new striker with Alvaro Morata set to join AC Milan, whilst youngster Samu Omorodion has yet to play for the club following his move from Granada last summer.

There have been question marks surrounding the future of Alvarez, who has just won the Copa America with Argentina, with reports suggesting he wants more game time.

Atletico making progress over Alvarez move

Alvarez was linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this summer, whilst French giants PSG are also known to have an interest in the 24-year-old.

The World Cup winner made 54 appearances in all competitions last season, with 36 of those coming in the Premier League and he scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists.

Fabrizio Romano had reported last week that City would talk to Alvarez’s camp after the Copa America to find out the situation, with the club not wanting to sell the Argentine.

However, Merlo has reported that Atletico have advanced in their pursuit of Alvarez and negotiations have taken place, with the striker willing to leave City as he wants a bigger role.

Any potential move for Alvarez wouldn’t be cheap, and he is under contract at the Etihad until 2028, having only signed a new contract in March 2023.

Alvarez won the treble in his debut campaign at the Etihad, before adding a second Premier League title to his collection last season, whilst he has won the World Cup and the Copa America with Argentina.

The former River Plate star would almost certainly be first choice at Atletico, but with the sort of money City would be looking for it’s likely to be beyond what the La Liga outfit can afford.

In other possible outgoings at City, Saudi side Al-Nassr have reportedly made an initial approach for Ederson worth €30m, with City wanting more than €50m to part ways with the Brazilian, who is believed to have agreed to a move to Saudi.

Saudi side Al-Nassr have made an initial proposal worth €30m for Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson according to Fabrizio Romano.

It’s been a quiet window so far for the Premier League champions with no incomings at the Etihad, and the new season is just over a month away.

City have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Savio from Troyes, with the winger impressing on loan at Girona in La Liga last season.

Al-Nassr make Ederson proposal

The future of Ederson has been a topic of discussion for a number of weeks with the Brazilian attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Nassr are known to be in the market for a goalkeeper and after a move fell through for former Arsenal shot stopper Wojciech Szczesny, they have identified Ederson as an alternative target.

Romano has provided an update on the situation and said that the Saudi club have submitted an initial proposal worth €30m which falls way below City’s valuation, whilst Ederson has already agreed to move to Saudi.

He took to X.com and said:

“Al Nassr initial proposal to Man City for Ederson, worth €30m package.
“There’s big gap in valuation as Man City won’t accept this fee, they want more than €50m to let Ederson leave.
“Brazilian GK has already agreed to move to Saudi Pro League, depends on clubs now.”

Ederson arrived at City from Portuguese club Benfica back in 2017 and currently has two years remaining on his contract, with some reports suggesting the club have offered him a new deal with a pay rise in a bid to get the 30-year-old to stay.

The goalkeeper has had a decorated career in Manchester and has won everything there is to win with the club including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.

If Ederson does leave it would leave City with a difficult decision on whether they promote Stefan Ortega to first choice after impressing in Ederson’s absence last season or if they go out and sign a new number one ahead of the new campaign.

A switch to Al-Nassr would see Ederson link up with Cristiano Ronaldo and former City team-mate Aymeric Laporte.

Phil Foden was inches away from giving England the lead in their Euro 2024 semi final but his curling effort hit the post.

Xavi Simons gave the Dutch a dream start as he fired a brilliant strike into the top corner inside the first ten minutes, but England levelled from the penalty spot through Harry Kane after a controversial decision, which saw the referee sent to the screen.

England have created some good opportunities and Foden saw an effort brilliantly cleared off the line by Denzel Dumfries.

The Manchester City ace is having a brilliant game and again went gone close to giving England the lead as he picked the ball up on he edge of the box from Bukayo Saka before taking a couple of touches and unleashing a brilliant curling effort which struck the post.

The Three Lions have certainly come to life and are causing the Dutch, who remain a threat on the counter attack a number of problems.

Manchester City could still make a move for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes even though his £100m release clause has expired, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

City have been quiet in the window so far but are set to sign Brazilian winger Savio from La Liga outfit Girona for a reported fee in the region of €30m.

Pep Guardiola’s side will no doubt further strengthen their squad as they look to win a record breaking fifth Premier League title in a row and a second Champions League title.

City could still move for Guimaraes

City are also looking to offload a number of stars and have already sold Tommy Doyle to Wolves and Taylor Harwood-Bellis to Southampton.

The club are reportedly looking to find new homes for the likes of Kalvin Phillips, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and Joao Cancelo who was on loan at Barcelona for the last campaign.

Guardiola’s side could look to strengthen in midfield given the likely departure of Phillips, and the struggles of Matheus Nunes following his move from Wolves last summer.

Bruno Guimaraes applauds Newcastle fans.
Manchester City could still make a move for Guimaraes this summer.

However, in his column for GIVEMESPORT Jacobs has reported that City could still make a move for Guimaraes even though his £100m release clause has expired.

He adds that City never intended to trigger the release clause or make an offer close to it, but they could try their luck with a bid around the £80m mark.

The Brazil international has been brilliant for the Magpies following his move from French side Lyon in 2022, and his performances are attracting interest from some of Europe’s big hitters.

The 26-year-old signed a new five year contract last October keeping him at St James’ Park until 2028.

Whilst the Brazilian appears happy in the north east, if an offer came in from City it’s unclear how he would respond to it and whether he would force a move away.

Guimaraes in the City midfield alongside the likes of Rodri is some prospect, but the likelihood of that happening any time soon is slim as things stand.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis will join Southampton on a permanent basis from Manchester City following their promotion back to the Premier League.

The Saints beat Leeds 1-0 in the Play-Off final at Wembley to return to the top flight at the first time of asking following their relegation in the 2022/2023 season.

Harwood-Bellis joined Southampton on loan from City on deadline day last summer with the deal including an obligation to buy if Russell Martin’s side got promoted.

Harwood-Bellis makes Southampton move permanent

Southampton’s Wembley success means they will now pay the Premier League champions £20m for the centre back.

The 22-year-old has been a regular for the Saints this season, making 46 appearances and scoring two goals in all competitions.

Harwood-Bellis is now a permanent Southampton player.

It’s the second season in a row Harwood-Bellis has won promotion to the Premier League having spent last season on loan at Vincent Kompany’s title winning Burnley side.

In the aftermath of their Play-Off victory the defender couldn’t hide his delight at becoming a Southampton Player.

“I can’t put it into words, it’s different because I know I’m a Southampton player now”, he said in quotes picked up by BBC Sport.

“I wanted to stay here and to know that we’ll be in the Premier League and there’s not even a discussion to happen now [with Man City] and to just turn up for pre-season, I can’t describe that feeling.”

When asked about the difference between his two promotions the former City man admitted the one with Southampton meant a little more knowing he’s now a member of the squad.

“It’s surreal, both in completely different ways, I couldn’t have asked for much better”, he added.

“Last year was so special, with a special football club that I loved to bits.

“This year is exactly the same, with a little more edge because I know I’m here to stay.”

Pep Guardiola is in agreement with Erik ten Hag that injuries are the main reason Manchester United have struggled this season.

The Red Devils endured a miserable campaign, finishing eighth, their lowest finish since 1990 and lost a club record number of games in a single league season.

It wasn’t just domestically that United struggled, with Ten Hag’s side finishing bottom of their Champions League group, which contained Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen.

Guardiola agrees with Ten Hag

The Dutchman is looking to end the season on a high by lifting the FA Cup, with reports suggesting it will be his last game in charge of the club.

The Old Trafford outfit have expressed their interest in a number of managers including Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Kieran McKenna and Thomas Frank.

United will be desperate to stop their rivals from creating more history and becoming the first side to win back to back league and cup doubles.

Guardiola will come up against Ten Hag in a repeat of the 2023 FA Cup final.

United have been plagued by injury problems this season, particularly defensively with Ten Hag unable to field what he would consider to be his strongest line-up for large parts of the season.

Speaking before the Wembley showdown Guardiola admitted he was in agreeance with his counter part over United’s struggles being down to injuries.

“In the big clubs, when you don’t win, always you are in trouble”, Guardiola told reporters at his pre match press conference.

“That’s not a secret, I would be in trouble if we didn’t win.

“He’s done very, very good things and I have huge respect for his job in the past

“I completely agree when I listen to him say he hasn’t had a full squad all season and has had a lot, a lot of injuries.

“They should think this is the reason why, players have to be fit otherwise you cannot use them.

“They’ve had a lot of problems and then the manager has suffered a lot, I think the squad is really good but when players are injured you cannot use them.”

In a repeat of the 2023 final City go in as heavy favourites with United knowing they have to win if they are to play European football next season having missed out on qualification through the league.

Manchester City took a giant step towards becoming the first team to win four Premier League titles in a row by beating Tottenham.

City headed to north London having not scored a Premier League goal in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but ran out 2-0 winners thanks to an Erling Haaland double.

Haaland opened the scoring when he tapped home Kevin De Bruyne’s pass and he then wrapped up the three points from the spot after Pedro Porro fouled Jeremy Doku

City had a huge let off at 1-0 when Heung-Min Son was through on goal but Stefan Ortega in the City goal pulled off a brilliant save.

It now means Pep Guardiola’s men go into the final day knowing if they beat West Ham they will win the title.

Speaking after the game Micah Richards praised City’s ability to deliver in the vital moments.

The mentality Guardiola has instilled into this group is on another level and they just come alive when the pressure is on.
