Only Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Newcastle outscored Chelsea last season.

The Blues’ Cole Palmer led the way with 25 goals per BBC Sport, with Nicolas Jackson weighing in with 17. Thereafter the goals were spread eight across the squad.

It’s evident that with a target man in situ the West Londoners could really propel themselves up the Premier League in 2024/25.

Chelsea not signing Solanke

A mobile No.9 that also thrives on service has to be a priority for Enzo Maresca and Todd Boehly, however, former Chelsea man, Dominic Solanke, won’t be that man.

Solanke, 26, scored 21 goals and provided three assists last season according to WhoScored, and has shown himself to be a willing runner for Bournemouth, and someone who works hard throughout a game.

He’ll help create chances for the team and for himself rather than expecting to be consistently fed whilst meandering up front and staying out of harms way.

Dominic Solanke is unlikely to be signed by Chelsea
Dominic Solanke is unlikely to be signed by Chelsea

Football Insider are reporting that sources have said that Solanke’s sale price of £65m is too ‘prohibitive.’

On the face of it, that’s an odd statement to be making, given that the Blues have spent a huge amount on players over the past couple of seasons.

Perhaps the very real threat of being docked points because of Financial Fair Play is now having to be taken much more seriously than before.

Of course, Chelsea are well within their rights not to be held to ransom by clubs just because it’s believed that they have the money, though it would be hard to argue against the £65m that Bournemouth want for Solanke not being market value.

One of the form strikers in the English top-flight last season, he proved on multiple occasions that he has what it takes to make a team stronger.

Unless Todd Boehly has bigger fish to fry, not moving for Solanke doesn’t make an awful lot of sense at this point.

Ange Postecoglou is reportedly determined to sign an ‘A-list’ striker before the close of the summer transfer window.

The no-nonsense Aussie has yet to replace Harry Kane following the Englishman’s high-profile move to Bayern Munich last year. And with speculation over Saudi-linked Richarlison’s future mounting, this window is expected to see Spurs go all out to sign a new number nine.

Spurs transfer news: Ange Postecoglou targeting Dominic Solanke

Despite being in talks with Lille for Jonathan David, Spurs, according to Football Insider, have also set their sights on a player closer to home.

Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke is a striker the Lilywhites rate but his homegrown status means Daniel Levy must be prepared to pay ‘a premium price’.

Dominic Solanke to Spurs?

Spurs aren’t the only club monitoring the 27-year-old either. London rivals West Ham and Chelsea are also interested in the Baskingstoke-born hitman so competition for his signature will be fierce.

During his five years with the Cherries, Solanke, who has three years left on his deal, has scored a total of 77 goals in just over 200 appearances. His best campaign came last season when he netted 19 league goals from 37 starts.

Former Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke is open to a return to the club this summer but Bournemouth have reportedly declined to allow the Blues to pay his release clause in instalments, according to Simon Phillips.

Solanke impressed at Bournemouth last season, scoring 19 goals in 38 Premier League games, and 21 in all competitions in total.

It now surely makes sense for Chelsea to look again at Solanke, even if he failed to make a first-team breakthrough at Stamford Bridge earlier in his career, leading him to pursue his career elsewhere.

Solanke has improved a lot since then, and the 26-year-old now looks like he could clearly have a positive impact in this Chelsea team, which was overly reliant on a young and inconsistent Nicolas Jackson last season.

Dominic Solanke to return to Chelsea?

Solanke transfer situation explained by Chelsea expert

While things do not seem to be advanced yet, the Solanke to Chelsea story clearly seems like one to watch, according to Phillips.

CFC need a striker, and Phillips has linked a number of targets as options for the west London giants, with Solanke one of them, and with the England international open to joining.

“One situation of this could certainly be certainly Dominic Solanke, because things have been happening here, although SPTC sources still maintain nothing is advanced,” Phillips said.

“But he’s absolutely seriously being considered, I’ve heard from yet another source last night that Solanke is a name mentioned to them too. It’s a unanimous report now from SPTC sources. Let’s see if anything goes any further.

“Last we heard was that Bournemouth do not wish to let Chelsea pay the release clause in instalments, and maybe it does end there. But there’s always room for negotiations in these things, and Chelsea would look for the player to push. Solanke is open to a return. Again, nothing advanced, but certainly something going on there, there’s just far too much noise for it to be absolutely nothing in it.”

Liverpool can receive an unexpected £9 million transfer windfall if Chelsea go ahead with their interest in Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

According to Anfield Watch, the Reds can receive financial boost if their Premier League rivals Chelsea sign former Liverpool striker Solanke.

The Merseyside club sold the English striker back in 2019 for an initial £19m to Bournemouth but they added a clause in the deal that could benefit them now.

Chelsea, who are looking for a new striker this summer, have been linked with a move for Solanke.

The 26-year-old scored 19 Premier League goals last season and he was one of the best players in the league.

His brilliant form has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in England including Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.

According to The Athletic, his Bournemouth contract has a £65 million release clause that only specific teams may trigger.

Liverpool can benefit from Dominic Solanke’s sale to Chelsea.

Liverpool are also guaranteed 20 percent of whatever money Bournemouth make on the attacker.

The Reds will get £9 million if Chelsea decide to sign the in-form attacker.

Solanke was expected to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championship this summer but he was surprisingly left out as Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney went with the squad as Harry Kane’s back up.

Liverpool are waiting for Chelsea to make a move for Solanke

Due to his efforts, Bournemouth were able to surpass their previous club record from 2016–17 and ended up with 48 points in the Premier League.

A transfer for Solanke would be seen as a major loss by Bournemouth, since the player led the line and was the team’s top scorer in the Premier League in 2023–2024 with 19 goals, ahead of eight for Antoine Semenyo and seven for Justin Kluivert in second and third place, respectively.

However, his sale would provide them with much needed cash injection which they can spend on new signings in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea have reportedly been put off pursuing a transfer deal for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke as his £65million release clause is too expensive.

Solanke had a fine season in the Premier League last term and would surely be a decent option for a number of bigger clubs, with Chelsea undoubtedly in need of more depth up front after an inconsistent campaign from Nicolas Jackson.

Still, it seems Solanke is too expensive for Chelsea, according to The Athletic, and it seems fair to say there will surely be cheaper options than the 26-year-old out there.

Solanke will surely be a player to keep an eye on, however, as one imagines other clubs could end up looking at the England international as an option this summer.

Solanke transfer: Chelsea not looking to re-sign striker

Solanke had a spell at Chelsea as a youngster but never quite made it into their first-team before leaving to join Liverpool.

Dominic Solanke too expensive for Chelsea

Things didn’t work out for Solanke at Liverpool either, however, and he’s done well to rebuild his career since then, becoming a star performer for Bournemouth and showing everyone what he’s capable of in the Premier League.

According to The Athletic, however, it seems Chelsea’s main targets are Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran and Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, so it perhaps makes sense that Solanke, with such a high asking price, is not at the top of their list at the moment.

Tottenham could perhaps do well to take a look at Solanke, though, having apparently had a bid rejected for Ivan Toney (according to Football Transfers), whose asking price at Brentford might end up being similar.

Chelsea could do with adding goals to their side, but Solanke’s time at Stamford Bridge has surely now come and gone, one would imagine, even if we do sometimes see players get a second chance.

Given the way in which Chelsea do business these days, it stands to reason that the West Londoners will be linked with a large number of players available for transfer.

Some rumours will prove to be accurate, others completely wide of the mark, though what seems to be ostensibly true is that the Blues are casting their net far and wide to ensure that the players they bring to the club are best in class for their position.

Nowadays, when owner, Todd Boehly, wants to land a new signing, he’ll ride roughshod over anyone else to get his man.

Being able to tie them down to long contracts allows for a little bit of creative accounting at the club, and potentially goes some way to explaining how the club have been able to afford the vast number of new signings over the past couple of seasons – a fire sale last summer notwithstanding.

Chelsea could sign old boy Dominic Solanke

One player that has long been linked with the club is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, however, it now appears that Chelsea have cooled their interest thanks to the Partnopei’s insistence in not budging on a £100m+ asking price as well as the player’s dip in form.

Instead, according to HITC, the Blues might well consider a bid for one of their old boys, Dominic Solanke.

Dominic Solanke is being considered by Chelsea

With 21 goals and three assists to his name for Bournemouth last season per WhoScored, the 26-year-old enjoyed the second most prolific season of his career to date.

The outlet also detail a clause in the player’s contract which would allow him to join one of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six,’ meaning that Chelsea, if they were minded to move for the player, might be able to land him for what could be considered a bargain fee in today’s market.

Arsenal are reportedly targeting a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, according to The Express.

Mikel Arteta is determined to add more firepower to his squad after losing the Premier League title to Man City in the last two attempts.

The Gunners have bridged the gap on Man City, from five points in 2022-23 to two points in 2023-24.

However, they have failed to finish the dominance of Pep Guardiola’s Man City in the Premier League and in the summer transfer window, the Gunners are ready to splash the cash again to improve the quality of their squad.

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is a potential choice for the striker position, however, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are all interested in signing the Slovenian.

The Gunners could risk missing out on the striker and they have identified an alternative just in case they miss out on the Bundesliga attacker.

At the Emirates Stadium, signing a top-tier striker is a key objective this summer.

In the past, the team decided not to sign a No. 9 in favour of Kai Havertz leading the line in north London.

Dominic Solanke could leave Bournemouth for £65m with Arsenal interested in the striker.

Solanke will be available to some for £65 million this summer, according to The Athletic.

For the Cherries last season, Solanke registered 19 goals and three assists in his career best season.

Due to his achievements, he has been predicted to sign for a “big six” Premier League team before the next season.

Arsenal target was one of the best strikers last season

Even though Solanke is drawing a lot of attention, Bournemouth will be eager to keep one of their most valuable players.

After Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, and Alexander Isak, the 26-year-old tied for fourth position in the Premier League scoring standings.

Despite leading the line brilliantly for Andoni Iraola’s team, Solanke was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad in favour of Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa and Ivan Toney of Brentford.

After appointing new manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are looking at their options in the transfer window.

The Blues are expected to strengthen their squad in a number of positions after a disappointing campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League and despite qualifying for the latter stages of the cup competitions, they failed to win any silverware.

One of the position that needs to be strengthened at Stamford Bridge is the striker position and Chelsea have now been paired with Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

The striker enjoyed a successful season in 2023-24 by scoring 19 Premier League goals.

Journalist Dean Jones, while speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, has claimed that the Blues could look to sign Solanke.

He said:

“Another striker Dominic Solanke being spoken about in The Athletic. He has a release clause of £65m in his contract and it can only be activated by certain clubs.

“Interesting that is. They say that Solanke is being tracked across this season, but his release clause is limited to a select group of sides and the identity of those teams is undisclosed.

Dominic Solanke Bournemouth Premier League Chelsea
Dominic Solanke to Chelsea?

“I haven’t dug into this one yet, it’s definitely one for me to look further into today.

“He’s been brilliant and Bournemouth won’t want to lose him but the player’s head would be turned if there was serious interest in him. It wouldn’t surprise me if Chelsea again or Newcastle were to look in his direction.”

A report from The Athletic has revealed that Solanke has a £65m release clause in his contract.

The Blues will have to activate that clause in order to sign the player who scored more goals than Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min last season.

Chelsea are expected to be busy this summer

Chelsea have been linked with a number of strikers including Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney and more recently Julian Alvarez.

Despite having Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku at the club, the Blues are looking for a prolific attacker and rightly so.

In order to start challenging for trophies again, they need a ruthless presence upfront which was missing last season.

In an unusual twist, one Premier League striker is available for sale this summer, but only for selected clubs.

There’s some certainty to there being a striker’s ‘domino’ effect this summer, with a number of high profile names being moved around.

Benjamin Sesko, Romelu Lukaku, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Joshua Zirkzee are just a few front men that are likely to be at a new club for the start of the 2024/25 campaign, but it needs the first of those to make the jump elsewhere before the rest are likely to follow suit.

Premier League striker, Solanke, could be sold this summer

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could also be considered to be part of any merry-go-round, though as The Athletic (subscription required) note, his £65m price will only be for certain clubs.

What’s odd about the situation is that those clubs aren’t named, so one can assume if certain interested parties make enquiries, they’ll know by the price quoted whether they’re part of the select few or not.

Dominic Solanke could leave Bournemouth for £65m
Dominic Solanke could leave Bournemouth for £65m

That could make life difficult for Solanke, particularly if he’s considering a move to a club that’s interested, but they’re refusing to pay any more than the £65m, whilst being one of the clubs out of that particular circle.

It also isn’t clear at this point just how much interest there is in a player that scored an impressive 19 goals in the Premier League last season.

In a Bournemouth side that were good without being great, Solanke stood tall and was a real focal point for the South Coast outfit.

Whilst Andoni Iraola would almost certainly be loathe to lose a player with Solanke’s talent, if he’s able to reinvest all of the money, he may be able to strengthen in other areas as well as up front.

Richarlison endured a tumultuous 2023/24 season at Tottenham Hotspur, where he was off the boil more than he was on it during his time on the pitch, whilst his mental health issues clearly affected all aspects of his life.

Spurs showed the correct way to act when supporting the front man through some troubled times, but the bottom line is that he’s paid to put the ball in the back of the net and he hasn’t done that as often as the club might’ve liked.

Richarlison sale could fund Solanke move

The 27-year-old managed 12 goals in all competitions per WhoScored, but aside from a purple patch when he scored nine goals in 10 games between December 10 and February 3, he only managed three goals outside of that period, two of which came before the end of September and the last against Liverpool in May.

To that end, talkSPORT note that the North Londoners appear willing to offload the player in order to fund a move for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

The sale of Richarlison could fund Tottenham's bid for Dominic Solanke
Dominic Solanke could be the replacement for Richarlison at Tottenham

Moreover, the outlet also suggest that the Cherries may finally be ready to cash in on ex-Liverpool ace, Solanke, who bagged 21 goals and three assists (WhoScored) for Andoni Iraola’s side.

Ange Postecoglou began his first season at Tottenham well, but his side drifted away towards the back end of the campaign and ultimately ended up failing to qualify for the Champions League.

There was still progression under the Australian, however, that trend needs to continue on an upward curve in 2024/25 and the Bournemouth hit-man could be one of a handful of signings to help the club do just that.

Spurs might not get it all their own way in the transfer window though, with other clubs expected to bid for Solanke’s services once it’s understood that he’s definitely on the market.

For Solanke himself, this summer could represent a chance for him to take the next step in his career.
