Brighton are not expected to have a free run at Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville this summer according to reports.

Summerville is not short of suitors, and is expected to be sold by Leeds after they failed to gain promotion to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old scored 21 goals and provided ten assists in 49 games in all competitions last season and was named in the Championship team of the season.

Brighton won’t have a free run at Summerville

According to recent reports Brighton have opened talks with Leeds over a move for the Dutch winger who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, but it remains unclear what their transfer plans are this summer under Arne Slot.

It’s believed Summerville is valued at around £30m by Leeds, and he is under contract at Elland Road until 2026.

An update on Summerville’s future has been provided by talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook who says Brighton are in the driving seat but they won’t have things their own way.

Summerville scored 21 goals in all competitions last season.

“I don’t expect them [Brighton] to have a free run at Summerville,” Crook told talkSPORT.

“I think a lot of Premier League clubs have him on their radar.

“There has been talk of Liverpool, although I am told maybe that interest has cooled slightly.

“It’s going to be a good deal for Leeds.

“I think they are pricing him at around £30 million, so money to reinvest in their squad potentially.”

Brighton will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing campaign which saw them finish eleventh under the now departed Roberto De Zerbi.

The Seagulls have now appointed 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler as their new boss, with the German set to become the youngest manager in Premier League history with several of Brighton’s current squad older than him.

Brighton are exploring a move for Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe this summer according to reports.

Smith Rowe has found opportunities hard to come by at the Emirates and started just three Premier League games last season.

The 23-year-old is under contract with the Gunners until 2026 and despite his age he could be facing a crossroads in his career this summer.

Brighton explore move for Smith Rowe

TBR Football have reported a number of Premier League clubs are interested in the services of Smith Rowe, with those teams believed to be Brentford, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Wolves and Fulham.

The report adds the Arsenal academy graduate has been informed by the club they will not stand in his way should he wish to leave.

The Gunners are believed to want around £30m for the attacking midfielder, with any potential sale acting as “pure profit” given his homegrown status, which will help the club to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

Smith Rowe started just three league games last season.

Since scoring ten goals for Mikel Arteta’s side in the 2021/2022 Smith Rowe has made just three league starts in the two years since.

It was Arteta who offered the 23-year-old a new five year contract back in 2021 following a run of impressive performances.

Smith Rowe looks a long way off being the player he was two-three years ago due to a lack of game time and injury, and is in desperate need of new surroundings and a fresh start to get his career back on track.

Brighton are still searching for a new manager following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi at the end of last season, and finding a successor will be their immediate priority.

The Seagulls were keen to appoint Kieran McKenna before he committed his long term future to Ipswich, whilst Graham Potter has been touted for sensation return.

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has issued an update regarding sought-after midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The 21-year-old has been a subject of interest for several Premier League clubs in recent weeks; Chelsea made a verbal proposal for the star, whilst Arsenal have submitted two bids to try and prise Caicedo away from the Amex.

The Ecuadorian even issued a statement himself expressing his desire to take on a new challenge and sign for a new club – much to the dismay of Brighton, who then told Caicedo to not return to training until the transfer deadline passes on February 1.

He consequently missed today’s clash with Liverpool in the FA Cup, in which the Seagulls saw out an emphatic 2-1 victory to knock out the holders of the cup after an injury-time winner from Kaoru Mitoma.

De Zerbi changes stance on Caicedo’s future

Speculation is still circulating regarding whether or not Caicedo will continue as a Brighton player, as the club have been firm in their stance that he will not be leaving.

However, things may have changed slightly overnight. De Zerbi said post-match (via Fabrizio Romano): “I would like Moises to finish the season with us, but we are ready to go forward without him. I respect his decision. I can’t be also the chairman, so we will see in the next days.”

Brighton and Hove Albion saw out a triumphant 2-1 win against Liverpool to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Roberto De Zerbi has his side playing exquisite football and supporters dreaming of new heights they have never seen before. The Seagulls sit sixth placed in the Premier League and have a significant chance of going all the way in the cup to lift their first major trophy.

This afternoon again proved that Brighton mean business; knocking out the FA Cup holders at the Amex and matching them stride for stride throughout the match.

The goalscorers

Harvey Elliott opened the scoring before a Tariq Lamptey strike took a deflection off of club captain Lewis Dunk and flew past Alisson to level the tie in the 39th minute.

It then took until injury-time for the Seagulls to take the lead through a sensational piece of play and finish by in-form starlet Kaoru Mitoma.

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has addressed the situation regarding Moises Caicedo.

The 21-year-old’s future at the club has been the centre of speculation in January and the past week has been pivotal to a potential deal for Caicedo.

Arsenal submitted a £60 million bid on Friday that was swiftly rebuffed by the Seagulls.

Caicedo then took to Twitter to express his desire to take on a new challenge. He issued a heartfelt statement to Brighton supporters shortly after the board rejected the Gunners’ bid. Chelsea are also interested in the Ecuadorian but are yet to table an offer.

The Brighton board have since told the midfielder to stay away from training and club matches until the transfer deadline has passed on February 1. He was consequently omitted from the matchday squad to face Liverpool in the FA Cup this afternoon.

De Zerbi on Caicedo

De Zerbi had his say on the situation before the game, saying (via Fabrizio Romano): “Caicedo is a good guy. We will see. We hope he stays with us but this question [is] for the club and Moises.

In life you can make mistakes. We will see the best solution for the club, for Caicedo and for us.”

Brighton and Hove Albion remain firm in their stance that Moises Caicedo is not for sale this transfer window.

According to Ben Jacobs, the player’s agents are actively working to oversee his exit and “doing everything in their power” to force a January move. However, the club are not budging on their decision.

There has been speculation regarding Caicedo’s future for several weeks but even more so in the past day, as Arsenal had a £60 million bid rejected by the Seagulls.

The 21-year-old then opted to speak out himself on the situation and took to Twitter to express his desire to leave Brighton in a heartfelt statement.

Caicedo will not feature for club until transfer window closes

Since then, Ecuadorian was told to not attend training until February 1 once the transfer deadline has passed. He will consequently be omitted from the matchday squad to face Liverpool in the FA Cup, and Roberto De Zerbi expects him to play a key role throughout the second half of the season.

The Gunners and Chelsea are the two clubs in the race for Caicedo. Liverpool have been linked have not shown concrete interest.

Chelsea have reportedly had a bid for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister rejected.

That is according to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, which confirmed that the Blues had submitted a bid of around £49 million to try and prise the midfielder away from the Amex.

However, their offer was swiftly turned down by Roberto De Zerbi and the Brighton hierarchy.

The Seagulls will be unwilling to oversee another departure in the winter after Leandro Trossard forced the board’s hand into agreeing a deal for his exit and even more so with one of the star performers of the World Cup, in which Mac Allister played a key role in Argentina’s journey to lifting the trophy.

Chelsea’s winter spending

Chelsea’s pursuit shows that their January spending is not coming to an end yet, as they are still looking to bolster the squad with enough reinforcements to try and obtain a top-four finish in the Premier League, as well as a promising Champions League run.

An overview of Saturday’s Premier League action across the day with six matches taking place.

Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

The three points of the match were absolutely crucial to either side’s top-four hopes, however, they failed to find the back of the net and consequently saw the points shared at Anfield. New Chelsea signing Mykhaylo Mudryk made his debut late in the second half and looked like a bright spark for the Blues but was unable to finish off two promising chances in front of the travelling support.

Chelsea remain 10th whilst Liverpool sit ninth. Brentford separates the two teams, though all three are level on points.

Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Bournemouth took the lead in the first half through Jaidon Anthony in the 28th minute, with the Cherries hoping to pick up their first win in four matches, but a late equaliser from Sam Surridge rescued a point for Steve Cooper’s side, who returned to haunt his former team at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth have consequently fallen into the bottom three and Forest sit in 13th place.

Leicester City 2-2 Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton were looking to pick up their third consecutive win against an out-of-form Leicester side. The Seagulls took the lead in the 27th minute through recent star performer Kaoru Mitoma, before Marc Albrighton equalised for the Foxes just 11 minutes later.

Harvey Barnes then put Leicester ahead in the 63rd minute and Evan Ferguson netted a late goal to take a point back to the Amex in the 88th minute. James Maddison returned from injury during the match.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are 14th. Brighton are in sixth.

Southampton 0-1 Aston Villa

The Saints remain rock bottom of the league table after failing to take anything from their clash with Unai Emery’s men.

Ollie Watkins scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute in Villa’s first match without Danny Ings. Villa are 11th placed following the match.

West Ham United 2-0 Everton

Perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated matches of the weekend for neutral viewers, as the pressure on both managers could not be any higher right now. There was endless speculation heading into the game that either David Moyes or Frank Lampard would see their managerial reign come to an end if they oversaw defeat.

It was the latter that did, and whilst there are yet to be any further updates coming out of Goodison Park, the Everton board are likely to hold key meetings tonight regarding the future of the Toffees. It was Jarrod Bowen’s brace that separated the two relegation candidates.

The Irons have managed to crawl out of the top three to 15th place whilst the Blues are 19th and joint on points with Southampton in 20th.

Crystal Palace 0-0 Newcastle United

Another stalemate took place at Selhurst Park with the Eagles now picking up points in consecutive matches against top-four sides; Manchester United midweek and now the Magpies.

Eddie Howe’s rampant Newcastle side were unable to see out a win but have extended their remarkable unbeaten run to 15 league games and picked up a 12th clean sheet.
