Everton are on the brink of finalising a deal for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, according to the latest report from TEAMtalk.

Negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly progressing well, with Everton moving closer to meeting Leeds’ valuation.

The Blues are prepared to spend £20 million on Gnonto, while Leeds are holding out for £25 million.

It is suggested that a compromise could be reached with a £20 million fee supplemented by performance-related add-ons.

Gnonto, who expressed a desire to leave Leeds last season as well, ended up being forced to stay and played a pivotal role in their near-promotion campaign. He made 44 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists.

Everton’s longstanding interest in Gnonto

Everton’s interest in him is not new. There was interest from Everton for him last summer as well, who even made a bid for him which was ultimately rejected by Leeds who were holding out for £30m.

They were expected to return for him in January but the club got charged with financial breaches resulting in a 10 point deduction.

The player remains keen on a move to Goodison Park and it appears that a deal is close to now being agreed.

According to TeamTalk, Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto.

After a disappointing campaign last season, manager Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen his squad to ensure a better performance in the upcoming season.

The club could have to deal with potentially losing several players this summer.

Miguel Almiron is strongly linked with a move away, with clubs from Saudi Arabia showing interest in signing him.

Anthony Gordon has also linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks but the club are determined to keep hold of him.

Wilfried Gnonto to Newcastle?

Newcastle eyeing move for Leeds United star

One of Newcastle’s targets is Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto.

Gnonto wanted to leave Leeds last season but ended up staying and playing a crucial role in their near-promotion campaign.

He made 44 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists.

As per TeamTalk, the player is keen on leaving Leeds United again this summer and is attracting interest from several clubs including the Magpies.

They join Everton in the race to sign him with the report claiming that Leeds unwilling to sell him for anything less than £25m.

It looks like it’s going to be quite the summer for Daniel Farke and Leeds United.

This time last year, the German was having to contend with the ambitions of new owners, 49ers Enterprises, alongside those players who didn’t see their immediate future at Elland Road.

That meant that Farke didn’t really have a settled side until mid-September, and yet he still came within a whisker of guiding them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Summerville, Gnonto and Rutter all set to leave Leeds

That he didn’t has already been brought into sharp focus with forced sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur.

With a family history at the club, it would surely been with a heavy heart that the club had to accept that their player would need to be sold.

If that wasn’t bad enough for Leeds fans to digest, it looks like there could be worse to follow.

Leeds United are preparing to lose all three of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto.
Leeds United are preparing to lose all three of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto.

According to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the trio of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto are also all likely to follow Gray out of the exit door if acceptable bids are tabled for each of the trio.

Losing just one would be bad enough but if all three jump ship, that would severely weaken the Yorkshire club’s attempts to get promoted at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Such is the fall-out from still being marooned in the English second-tier.

The outlet quote sources as saying the players believe that they have something to offer at the top level, rather than spending another season in the English Championship.

If Farke and his superiors are forced to accept that they’re powerless to keep the players, the best the club can hope for is that they maximise any transfer fee for each, allowing them to strengthen and give Leeds the best chance of promotion on this occasion.

Football Insider claims that Leeds United player Wilfried Gnonto is back on Everton’s radar this summer.

When the Whites were relegated from the Premier League in the 22–23 season, the 20-year-old was among the few who showed any promise, so it appeared difficult to keep Gnonto at Elland Road a year ago.

Last summer, the Toffees were also eager to recruit the Italian international player.

But despite the player’s strong desire to leave and Everton’s keen interest, the Italian international stuck at Elland Road as a member of Daniel Fake’s team.

Now, after Leeds failed to win promotion back to the Premier League, interest has increased once again in the services of Gnonto.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has told Football Insider that the Whites will have to accept an offer of £30-35million for the player.

He said:

“There’s been talk of Gnonto coming to Everton, the club do like him from what I know.

leeds swansea gnonto
Wilfried Gnonto could leave Leeds United soon.

“It’s difficult for Leeds because they do have to sell.

“They need to get an auction going, and that doesn’t appear to be happening – but we never know which clubs are coming in for him behind the scenes.

“I would value him at around the £30-35million mark.

“The market is depressed because of their ability to command a higher price.

“He’s a talent, he could do well in the Premier League – but clubs know that Leeds have to sell.

“This is going to be a worrying window for the club.”

Should important players such as Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter be transferred, the Whites will have the challenging obstacle of finding replacements this summer.

Leeds United failed to get promoted to the Premier League after losing the Championship playoff final against Southampton.

Following an impressive campaign in the Championship, that ended up being a disaster for the Whites in the last couple of months, they faltered at the final stage.

A number of players are now expected to leave the club as Premier League clubs are now looking at Elland Road and considering signing their talented players.

According to journalist Graham Smyth, Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto are both likely to depart Elland Road this summer.

The journalist revealed the information on the Yorkshire Evening Post about the two Leeds players, who are likely to be poached by teams in the bigger leagues.

Some of the Leeds United players are set to leave the club this summer.

Dutch winger Summerville could leave the club in a £35million move and it would be a smart sale from the club having only signed the player for £1.5m.

Along with Summerville, Smyth has named Gnonto as the player who could leave the Championship club and a move to the Premier League or the Serie A is expected for the player who is looking to make a place in the Italy national team.

Farke has to make big decisions at Leeds United

It is going to be a busy summer at Elland Road and they will have to deal smartly with their incomings and outgoings.

Manager Daniel Farke is preparing his team to get promoted to the Premier League and for that he will have to deal with the transfer business of the club cleverly.

Leeds United are currently navigating treacherous financial waters after the Yorkshire side failed to bounce back up to the Premier League.

The club owes a staggering £190 million in transfer debts accumulated during Andrea Radrizzani’s tenure and have recently reported a £33.7 million loss, despite significant player sales.

This financial strain is compounded by their latest defeat at Wembley in the Championship play-off final against Southampton, marking their third consecutive loss in finals and a sixth unsuccessful play-off campaign.

Daniel Farke’s team were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Southampton in the Championship play-off final, courtesy of Adam Armstrong’s first-half goal. The defeat means Leeds United will spend a second successive season in the Championship, a significant blow given their ambitions to return to the Premier League.

Leeds United will be under serious profit and sustainability pressures

The financial ramifications of missing out on promotion are severe. Leeds fans are now bracing for the likely departure of key talents such as Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto. Chairman Paraag Marathe has acknowledged the possibility of player sales, stating that while the club has the necessary funds, they will need to make sales to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

The likelihood of losing pivotal players is a major concern for Leeds. Summerville and Gnonto are expected to attract significant interest from other clubs, making their retention difficult. Even young talents like Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter are not guaranteed to stay, despite the club’s efforts to hold onto them.

Marathe’s comments to BBC Radio Leeds underline the precarious situation: “We have the funds we need to do what we need, but there will need to be some trade-offs because of [profit and sustainability rules].” The club’s financial obligations and the need to balance the books make it challenging to retain their best players after failing to achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

Marathe emphasised the club’s commitment to adhering to profit and sustainability regulations: “There are certain things we need to do and we will make sure we are fully compliant with P and S [profit and sustainability] as we always have been. We’ll have to get back to the drawing board and see what deals we need to do.”

Prior to the last stretch of the season, Leeds were ready to make an instant return to the Premier League.

However, they faltered at that critical time, allowing Leicester City and Ipswich Town to capture the two automatic promotion slots.

It looked like the Whites had regained their form when they beat Norwich City 4-0 in the semifinal of the play-off.

But defeat against Southampton in the Championship final completely ruined their season.

A number of players face uncertain future at the club following their failure to get promoted to the Premier League.

According to Francesco Guerrieri, Wilfried Gnonto has expressed his desire to leave Leeds United and has started looking for a new team.

Wilfried Gnonto could leave Leeds United soon.

The teams in Serie A will receive precedence over other offers in the event that one is made.

Through his X account, Guerrieri revealed the news:

“Wilfried Gnonto wants to return to Italy. The Leeds striker is looking for a new club, if offers from Serie A arrive they will have priority.”

Leeds United are set to face a difficult time in the summer transfer window as a number of players might be heading to the exit door at Elland Road.

Leeds players face uncertain future at the club

The Championship club could be forced to sell some of their players in order to recoup some money after their failure to get promoted.

Crysencio Summerville, Dan James and Gnonto are all expected to leave the club as they are likely to attract interest from Premier League clubs.

Following their disappointment at not securing a top flight return and the corresponding £140 million, the focus will shift to which players must be sold this summer in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

As Leeds United navigates through the tumultuous waters of the Championship Play-Offs, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The club’s financial health hangs in the balance, contingent on their ability to secure a coveted promotion back to the Premier League this season.

Failure to achieve a swift promotion back to the top-flight could plunge the Whites into an array of financial struggles, with ominous worries on the horizon.

Renowned football journalist Pete O’Rourke has sounded the alarm to Football Insider, warning of “worrying times ahead” for the Whites if they’re consigned to another season in the Championship.

The recent 4-0 defeat to QPR in the penultimate game, and the 2-1 loss at Elland Road on the final day, only served to exacerbate the looming crisis, casting doubt on their aspirations of an immediate return to the top flight.

The financial landscape appears bleak for Leeds United, with staggering debts totalling £190 million stemming from the Andrea Radrizzani-era transfers. The club’s financial report, released just last month, revealed a daunting £33.7 million loss after factoring in player sales. Such a substantial financial deficit paints a grim picture, especially if clubs come knocking to collect their dues in the absence of promotion.

Compounding the issue is the impending decrease in parachute payments, a lifeline for relegated clubs, as Leeds brace for their second year in the Championship.

Leeds United will be in major trouble if they do not gain promotion to the Premier League

Desperation may force Leeds United’s hand, leading to the sanctioning of key player sales during the upcoming transfer window. Reports from Football Insider indicate that five stars, including talents like Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto, could be sacrificed in a bid to offset financial woes.

If the Yorkshire club fail to achieve promotion back to the Premier League then the club could be in dire straits. The likes of Summerville, Gnonto and Archie Gray could all be flogged to alleviate some of their debts, which would leave little wiggle room in order to fund a rebuild.

Leeds United are reportedly willing to entertain offers for Willy Gnonto in the upcoming transfer window, provided the price is right.

According to Football Insider, the club has set a valuation of £20-30 million for the talented youngster, and they would be prepared to consider offers at the higher end of that range.

It suggests that other clubs are closely monitoring Gnonto’s situation, with Premier League clubs among those showing interest.

The report also claims that Premier League clubs have shown interest in his teammates Ethan Ampadu, Crysencio Summerville and Joe Rodon as well.

Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League could help them keep hold of star players

Leeds are not overly keen on parting ways with Gnonto, and promotion back to the Premier League will certainly help them keep hold of their best players.

Currently, they findd themselves embroiled in a fiercely contested battle for direct promotion.

Sitting in 3rd place in the table with 87 points, they are just 2 points behind 2nd-placed Ipswich Town and 4 points adrift of league leaders Leicester City.

Ben Parker believes that Daniel Farke could bring Wilfried Gnonto into the starting lineup when Leeds United take on Blackburn Rovers.

On the latest episode of the LS11 Podcast, he said: “I think if there is a change, that will be it. Right before the international break, Willy was scoring goals. Then he’d come off, bring Dan James on and he’d get a goal so whatever was working it seemed to fit everybody.

“I think he might go down that way but even if we kept the same team it is a strong team, but it’s just not seeing that rhythm we have seen for large parts of the season. These are the type of games if we got an early goal it settles everyone down.”

The Whites are going through a disappointing run of form right now and they have picked up just five points from their last four matches after the international break.

They will be hoping to bounce back strongly and Parker feels that Gnonto could be given the nod ahead of Dan James. The Welsh international winger has been quite disappointing since the international break and taking him out of the limelight could be a good decision.

Although he scored an impressive goal against Hull City, his performances have been largely ineffective.

Meanwhile, Gnonto will be desperate to prove his worth and hold down a starting spot. He will be looking to grab the opportunity if leads are prepared to give him a start against Blackburn.

The Italian is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him and he is certainly good enough to start regularly in the championship.

It will be interesting to see if he can make an instant impact for Leeds in the Championship.

Wilfried Gnonto in action for Leeds United

Gnonto could be useful for Leeds

The Whites are currently pushing for promotion to the Premier League and they will need to finish the season strongly pull stop they cannot continue to falter at this stage of the season.

Gnonto to will add pace, flair and unpredictability to the attack.

The talented young Italian was in impressive form before picking up an injury on international duty. He scored 6 goals in 9 league starts prior to the injury blow and he will be hoping to get back to that level once again.
