Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is attracting interest from the likes of Fulham and Galatasaray, but Erik ten Hag insists United want to keep hold of him.

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their squad having finished a disappointing eighth last season and bottom of their Champions League group.

After a slow start to the window there’s been a flurry of activity at Old Trafford with a number of deals being completed, and several more near the finish line.

Ten Hag insists United want to keep McTominay

United have signed striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, whilst teenage centre back Leny Yoro has also arrived from Lille, with the club also believed to working on deals for Manuel Ugarte and Matthijs de Ligt.

Midfield is an area United are looking to strengthen and they are believed to be trying to offload Casemiro, whilst the club won’t be taking up their €20m buy option on Sofyan Amrabat following his loan spell from Fiorentina last season.

United have also been linked with a move for France international Adrien Rabiot who is now a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired.

Ten Hag wants McTominay to remain at Old Trafford this summer.

Question marks have also surrounded the future of Scotland international McTominay who was the subject of interest from West Ham last summer.

The 27-year-old is once again attracting interest this summer with the likes of Tottenham, Fulham and Turkish giants Galatasaray all said to be interested.

However, Ten Hag has come out and insisted United want to keep the midfielder and that he’s a very important part of the squad.

“We have very good players so there will always be an interest from other clubs,” Ten Hag said.

“When you score 10 goals in a season and also perform very good for Scotland, then there will be an interest. But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad.

“What he can contribute, as we saw last season once we had our sixes available, he could play in a more advanced role and he is a highly interesting player for our team.”

McTominay popped up with a number of late and important goals last season for United as he scored ten goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, but he only has one year remaining on his current deal although United have a club option for a further year.

Man United midfielder Scott McTominay hopes to stay at Man United for the upcoming season and beyond as the Manchester club seek £30m to part ways with the Scotland international this summer.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at Old Trafford in 2025 and the current transfer window would be the ideal time to sell the midfielder should he fail to agree a new deal with Man United.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new central midfielder, with the Premier League giants pursuing deals for PSG’s Manuel Ugarte and free agent Adrien Rabiot. According to L’Equipe, United will need to part ways with €70m in order to secure the services of the Uruguay international, while Rabiot is likely to demand large wages.

Man United hope to shift Casemiro on ahead of the new campaign getting underway, however, McTominay is another option to help fund other signings.

According to Football Insider, the Manchester club have placed a £30m price tag on the 27-year-old and are believed to have rejected a bid from Fulham this week as it fell below this valuation, reports talkSPORT.

The Scotland international’s priority is to stay at Old Trafford ahead of the new season and will hope to do enough throughout the 2024/25 campaign to earn a new contract.

Scott McTominay was crucial for Man United last season

McTominay was also linked with a move away from Man United last summer as West Ham pursued the midfielder. However, the Scotland star remained at Old Trafford and had a big season with the Manchester club.

The 27-year-old scored 10 goals during the 2023/24 campaign and became a regular in Ten Hag’s team, playing 43 games in all competitions.

The midfielder scored some huge goals for United throughout the season, especially during their run to the FA Cup title, netting in the Red Devils’ quarter-final against Liverpool and again in the semi-final against Coventry City.

McTominay has spent his whole career at Man United and as his time at Old Trafford looks to be coming to an end, it is not hard to see why the 27-year-old doesn’t want to give it up easily.

The make up of West Ham’s first-team starting XI could look markedly different from last season when they first take to the field in 2024/25.

Perhaps because of Julen Lopetegui’s way of playing, certain players are being targeted for various positions, which is likely to ensure that some players who were first-team regulars under David Moyes, will either be a second choice under the Spaniard or will be sold.

West Ham linked with Scott McTominay again

One player that the Hammers were linked with 12 months ago is Man United’s marauding goalscoring midfielder, Scott McTominay.

It would appear that the Scot could be surplus to requirements for the Red Devils again, given their known interest in PSG’s Manuel Ugarte, so the time could be right for the 27-year-old to move on.

One former Hammer, Frank McAvennie, has demanded his old club get the deal done.

“I would pay it. £25million-£29million is nothing for a midfield player of Scott’s calibre. He’s only 27 years old and you see him play for Scotland, he scores goals, and he can play centre-half or centre-midfield,” he said to West Ham Zone.

“He’s in amongst all the big boys at Manchester United. It must be bad because he’s playing well and all of a sudden, he gets dropped. I’m asking, ‘Why is he being dropped?’ because the others are rubbish.

“I’d take him at West Ham. He needs a strong manager to get his finger out because he’s a damn good player when he puts his mind to it.”

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is reportedly now also a transfer target for Tottenham this summer, though he won’t be allowed to move on the cheap.

The Scotland international has struggled to establish himself as an automatic starter for Man Utd, so it could be that he’ll now look to move on in order to play more regularly, with a lot of recent transfer rumours about him emerging.

The latest club to be linked with an interest in McTominay is Tottenham, with the Sun reporting, however, that the Red Devils want as much as £40million to let him go, despite asking for more like £30m this time last year when West Ham made an offer.

McTominay could be a decent signing for Spurs, with the Sun reporting that he’s now emerging as an alternative to Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher for the north London side, as the Blues ace could now be set to see out the remainder of his contract at Stamford Bridge before leaving next year.

Scott McTominay celebrates a goal for Manchester United

Although some Tottenham fans might not be that excited by McTominay, he has arguably been a bit of an unsung hero for United in recent times, and unfortunate not to get more regular guaranteed playing time.

The 27-year-old could well have a really positive impact for a club like Spurs, even if £40m perhaps looks a bit pricey for someone of his all-round profile and age.

Still, it makes sense that MUFC don’t just want to let McTominay go on the cheap, with the club in need of funds from player sales after spending big on Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, with the latter deal now looking more or less done, according to Fabrizio Romano via his Daily Briefing column.

McTominay being homegrown means United won’t want to lose out on the potential for pure profit from a Financial Fair Play perspective.

Man United have rejected a bid from Fulham believed to be less than £30m for Scott McTominay as the London club look to recruit the Scotland midfielder during the current transfer window.

The Cottagers lost Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich last week with the Premier League club agreeing to the Portuguese star’s sale for a transfer fee worth €56m. The Bundesliga club had an interest in the Fulham star since last summer and having failed to secure his services back then, the German giants returned.

Marco Silva now needs a replacement for the 29-year-old and it is believed that Fulham are interested in Man United’s Scott McTominay.

According to the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler, the Cottagers have seen a bid worth less than £30m rejected by the Manchester club as they seek a higher fee for the Scotland international.

It is not certain if Fulham will return for the 27-year-old over the coming weeks, but they have a good chance of signing McTominay if they do as the midfielder only has one year left on his current United contract – although the Red Devils have the option to extend that by another year.

Scott McTominay needs to leave Man United this summer

Although McTominay featured 43 times for Man United last season, it would be best for the 27-year-old to leave Old Trafford, as the Scotland star is not a guaranteed starter at the Manchester club and Erik ten Hag is also expected to sign a new midfielder this summer.

The Man United star is in a period of his career where he needs to be one of the first names on the teamsheet and the midfield talent would be guaranteed that at Fulham. The Cottagers are one of the more exciting teams in the Premier League and working under Marco Silva could be good for McTominay’s career.

The 27-year-old will find it hard to leave Man United having spent his entire career with the Premier League giants but it is a move he needs to make ahead of the new campaign.

Although the summer transfer window has only been officially open for a couple of weeks, West Ham United continue to be one of the busier clubs with regards to negotiations for players.

Technical director, Tim Steidten is evidently working hard behind the scenes to try and deliver a world class XI for new manager, Julen Lopetegui.

It appears that a number of names are continuing to be linked with the East Londoners, and according to CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of the club’s transfer plans, they will open talks again this week for out-of-favour Man United midfielder, Scott McTominay.

West Ham want Man United ace Scott McTominay

Sources indicate that the Red Devils are looking for a fee in the region of £29m/€35m, and whilst Turkish giants, Galatasaray, are also reported to be interested, they prefer a loan option as they consider the sale price to be too high at present for the 27-year-old Scottish international.

It’s also understood that McTominay himself wants an annual salary of around £10m, which Galatasaray have also apparently baulked at, weighing in with a €6m-€7m salary package.

Man United's Scott McTominay is a target for West Ham
Man United’s Scott McTominay is a target for West Ham

With the Hammers planning those talks this week, which will be a follow up to previously held discussions, this would put them in the box seat to land a player that they were first linked with 12 months ago, but who, ultimately, decided to give things another go under Erik ten Hag at Man United.

His 2023/24 didn’t get any better than the season before, and has left the player with an important decision to make.

It isn’t clear if he is interested in a move down south or to the Turkish Super Lig at this stage, but surely either would be preferable if he isn’t going to be in Erik ten Hag’s first choice XI at Man United.

Were Gala unable to land McTominay, they could go after the Red Devils’ English right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka again according to CaughtOffside sources.

Manchester United have reportedly rejected early offers for Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay this summer amid interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The 27-year-old has been a reliable first-team player for Man Utd down the years, even if he’s never quite looked convincing as an automatic starter who might help the Red Devils really raise their game and become genuine title contenders again.

Still, it seems there’s plenty of interest in McTominay this summer, with the Manchester Evening News suggesting multiple early summer bids have been turned down by United, who also rejected around £30m from him a year ago.

The report also quotes Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu publicly speaking about negotiations to sign McTominay and other targets.

Scott McTominay could be on the move.

“McTominay’s transfer fee is being discussed,” Hatipoglu said.

“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, he wants to see all options.

“There is no talk of single-digit figures for right-back and midfield transfers. But we have allocated a budget of less than €10million for right-back.

“There is no negative situation regarding Guela Doue. Negotiations are ongoing (for) McTominay and Doue. (Aaron) Wan-Bissaka is not our priority.”

United could do well to cash in on McTominay if there is a chance to do so, but it seems they’re determined not to give him away on the cheap.

Still, even a relatively modest fee for the Scotland international could represent a very healthy sale for the club due to the fact that he came up through their academy, so would represent ‘pure profit’ in terms of Financial Fair Play rules and regulations.

United could do with making changes in midfield, so shipping someone like McTominay out might be a good place to start, though at the same time one imagines there are others like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen that the club might prefer to try offloading first.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been linked with a move away from the club and the Red Devils are looking to bring in quality replacements before selling him.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are keen on the Scotland international and they are waiting to find out whether Manchester United will sanction his departure in the coming weeks, as per Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has been a useful squad player for Manchester United, but he is not a regular starter for them. He needs to play more often at the stage of his career and joining clubs like West Ham or Newcastle could be ideal for him.

Manchester United might not be able to provide him with regular first-team action. The Red Devils are hoping to bring in midfield reinforcements and the Scottish international is likely to drop further down the pecking order.

In addition to that, McTominay has a contract with Manchester United until 2025 and he will be a free agent next summer. With that said, Manchester United have an option to extend his deal by another year. It would make sense for them to cash on him this summer, if he is not a key part of their plans going forward.

Selling him would bring in the funds to improve the squad and Manchester United would be able to sign quality players. It remains to be seen what the Premier league giants decide in the coming weeks.

Scott McTominay would improve Newcastle and West Ham

Meanwhile, the midfielder scored 10 goals and picked up three assists in all competitions last season and he could be a useful acquisition for Newcastle and West Ham.

The Hammers need more quality in the middle of the park and signing a complete central midfielder like McTominay would be a wise decision. Newcastle need to add more creativity, goals, and work rate in the middle of the park as well. The 27-year-old old is well settled in English football and he could make an instant impact if he joins either of the two clubs.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 27-year-old midfielder is a player in demand and clubs like Fulham, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Southampton are all keeping tabs on his situation. However, Football Insider claims that Manchester United are in no hurry to sell the player and they are ready to press ahead with their transfer business before deciding on the Scottish international’s future.

McTominay was a useful squad player for Manchester United last season, and even though the 27-year-old did not start every game, he proved himself to be an important asset. The Red Devils need more quality and depth and their squad and keeping the Scottish international at the club beyond the summer would not be a bad idea. He can help out defensively and chip in with goals and assists as well.

Man United do not want to sell Scott McTominay now.
Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Man United midfielder Scott McTominay.

McTominay would be a quality addition

McTominay scored 10 goals in all competitions for Manchester United last season and he helped them win the FA Cup as well. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can convince the player to continue. He will be hoping to play more often at this stage of his career and the Red Devils might have to provide him with some gametime assurances.

The aforementioned Premier League clubs could certainly provide him with regular gametime, and it remains to be seen whether he is attracted to the idea of joining them instead.

The likes of West Ham and Newcastle have ambitious projects and McTominay could be a key player for them. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Even if the Red Devils decide to sell him, they are unlikely to let him leave for a knock down price and the English clubs will have to shell out a substantial amount of money for him.

Newcastle United are actively looking at options in the transfer market to improve their squad and increase the quality and the depth of their pool of players.

Eddie Howe and the Magpies management have a busy summer ahead of them as they plan to sort out the issues their squad faced last season.

The Toon Army are looking to make additions to all positions in their squad.

They have already signed Lloyd Kelly to improve the quality of their defense but they need a lot more to replicate their successful season of 2022-23 when they qualified for the Champions League and reached the Carabao Cup final.

According to Manchester World, Newcastle are eyeing a move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Scotland international could be heading to the exit door at Old Trafford with only one year remaining in his contract.

The Red Devils could look to cash in on him and the player might consider a move away.

Man United Newcastle United Scott McTominay
Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Man United midfielder Scott McTominay.

McTominay was used as a substitute on most occasions last season and he still contributed goals from the bench and saved Man United on a number of occasions.

The midfielder was close to joining West Ham United last summer to replace Declan Rice at the London Stadium, however, the move did not materialise in the end and he stayed with the Red Devils.

Newcastle United move can revive McTominay’s career

If there is no guarantee to start next season under Erik ten Hag, then McTominay has to leave the club for better opportunities elsewhere.

He is about to reach the peak years of his career and for that he needs to play every week.

The Magpies face competition from rival Premier League clubs in the race to sign him, with Fulham, Southampton and West Ham all cosidering a move for the 27-year-old.

As per the report, Fulham are leading the race to sign him so Newcastle have a lot of work to do if they are serious about getting this deal done.
