Tottenham are open to offers for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer and Fulham are one Premier League club believed to be readying a move for the Denmark international.

Marco Silva is looking to bring in a new midfielder ahead of the 2024/25 campaign as his options at Craven Cottage are limited. The Portuguese coach currently has Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed, and Sasa Lukic to choose from following the departure of his main star Joao Palhinha.

The 29-year-old joined Bayern Munich as part of a deal worth €56m. The Bundesliga club had an interest in the Fulham star since last summer and having failed to secure his services back then, the German giants returned.

The London club originally wanted Man United’s Scott McTominay but they had a bid worth £17m rejected by the Manchester club, reports Football Insider.

As a result, Fulham have now turned their attention to Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the Cottagers said to be readying a bid for the Danish midfielder.

Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg should jump at Fulham opportunity

Hojbjerg does not have a future at Tottenham as the North London club would ideally like to sell the midfielder before his contract expires in 2025.

The Danish star was not a major player for Ange Postecoglou last season starting in just nine of his 36 Premier League appearances as the Australian coach preferred Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr in his midfield two.

Spurs have now added Archie Gray to their ranks having signed the youngster from Leeds United during the current transfer window. This will reduce Hojbjerg’s minutes further and the 28-year-old should jump at the chance to play for Fulham.

Bigger clubs may arrive for the Tottenham star but Fulham is an exciting project under Silva’s leadership as the West London club played some beautiful football last season on the way to a 13th-place finish – which could have been higher.

It remains to be seen if the Cottagers submit an official proposal to Tottenham for the Denmark international, but Hojbjerg will certainly be at a new club come the end of the transfer window.

Fulham are lining up a potential transfer deal for Fluminense midfielder Andre as their replacement for Joao Palhinha, who has left to join Bayern Munich.

Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Fulham have resumed talks over signing Andre, who was also a target of theirs back in January, while Liverpool and AC Milan have also been among the clubs to show an interest in the talented 22-year-old.

Fulham ended up keeping hold of Palhinha last summer, but now that he’s gone it makes sense that they’re prioritising a talent like Andre to come in and become their first choice in defensive midfield.

Liverpool are also known to have monitored the Brazilian, though they ended up going down a different path last summer with some major investment on four new midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Andre transfer: Brazilian midfielder open to Fulham move

Andre to Fulham?

Sources have told CaughtOffside that Andre is open to joining Fulham, with an agreement on personal terms now very close and expected to be reached.

There have also been talks between Fulham and Fluminense as the two clubs look to close a deal, with the Brazilian side looking for €30-35m for their star player.

Fulham should have money to spend after selling Palhinha, but at the same time it remains to be seen if they’ll be prepared to over-pay for a relatively inexperienced and unproven player, even if he is highly thought of in the game as someone with a big future ahead of him at the highest level.

It will be interesting to see if this deal goes through, and if Andre can then prove to be a success in the Premier League, as one imagines that might pave the way for a big move to somewhere like Liverpool again in the future.

After securing the services of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, Vincent Kompany is seemingly wasting no time in beefing up his Bayern Munich squad.

According to CaughtOffside columnist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Fulham’s Joao Palhinha will put pen to paper on a €50m transfer to the Bavarian giants on Wednesday.

It’s no doubt been a long 12 months for the brilliant midfielder, after a move to Bayern collapsed on Deadline Day last summer.

However, all good things come to those who wait, and despite the change of manager, there’s been no change in Bayern’s desire to land the 29-year-old Portuguese.

Romano states that the player has already completed his medical with his new club so it’s just the formality of contract signing that is left to be sorted out.

Joao Palhinha will put pen to paper on Bayern deal on Wednesday

After losing Tosin Adarabioyo this summer too, Fulham need to work hard and fast to replace two of their best players in 2023/24.

Marco Silva will want the Cottagers to remain competitive and not become one of those teams that start the inevitable slide towards the relegation places after losing their best players.

Craven Cottage has been redeveloped to a high standard and with a view to Fulham remaining as a Premier League club.

It isn’t clear at this stage who Fulham might be looking at to replace the duo, however, having not drawn out negotiations, it’s given them more than enough time in the transfer window to bring in the right players.

Riccardo Calafiori gives green light to Arsenal, but Chelsea still in the race

The big story of the last few days is with Riccardo Calafiori and if you’ve been following on here then you’ll know since last week about the strong interest from Arsenal and Chelsea. Both clubs are really interested in Calafiori, and now Arsenal have presented their proposal to the Italy international – it’s a long-term contract, the salary is not an issue at all, and they also presented their project to the player, and he is open to joining Arsenal in case they can reach an agreement with Bologna.

So, there is already a green light from Calafiori to Arsenal, but what about Chelsea? My understanding is that Chelsea are prepared to approach Bologna, and that they will try to include players in the negotiation. It’s a different strategy, but Chelsea are still there, even if Arsenal are the favourites at the moment.

Arsenal have a shortlist with three names in that position – left-footed defenders who can play centre-back or left-back. Jorrel Hato fits the bill in that respect and also remains one of the most appreciated talents by Arsenal, but for now Ajax still insist to keep him for one more season. So, Calafiori is exactly what Arsenal are looking for in that position, and Mikel Arteta has approved the potential deal and we’re now waiting for the next step. Let’s see what will happen between Arsenal and Bologna, this is now the crucial point.

It’s also important to note that Calafiori has given the green light to Arsenal because Juventus are almost no longer in the race. For weeks and weeks, Juventus wanted Calafiori, they had an agreement on the salary with Calafiori, but they are now considered out as they cannot agree on a deal with Bologna. The truth is that Bologna are furious with Juventus after their manager Thiago Motta made the move there this summer, and so that’s why they are furious with Juve and they would prefer to sell the player abroad.

Now they have the chance, because Arsenal are there and Arteta is really keen to bring Calafiori to the club. The relationship between Arsenal and Bologna is also very good after they previously negotiated the deal for Takehiro Tomiyasu, so let’s see if Chelsea can come up with something, or if Arsenal will now win the race for one of the most talented young defenders around. Despite rumours about PSG and Bayer Leverkusen, I’m told that the only two clubs in the race are Arsenal and Chelsea, with Arsenal ahead at the moment.

It will be interesting to see his development from here, and how Arsenal plan to use him if they manage to complete this signing. He can play easily as a centre-back or left-back, he’s excellent in both positions; he was a left-back for his whole career before this superb season as centre-back last season.

What does Joao Palhinha transfer mean for Joshua Kimmich?

Joao Palhinha and Joshua Kimmich

Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich is now a ‘here we go’ as there has been a breakthrough in talks between Bayern and Fulham. Palhinha asked very clearly to be allowed to join Bayern, and now it looks closer to going through, so what could this mean for the future of other Bayern midfielders?

There has been a lot of speculation about Joshua Kimmich in particular as he’s in the final year of his contract at Bayern now, and some fans have asked me if Palhinha’s arrival means he’s replacing him.

Let’s see what happens because Bayern have still a chance to extend Kimmich’s contract. Still, the most likely scenario at the moment is for Kimmich to leave and try a new experience, it will also depend on proposals because Kimmich will explore all the options available to him after the Euros.

Truth about Liverpool swap deal and Marc Guehi links

It’s been a quiet summer for Liverpool so far, but we know there was recently interest in Anthony Gordon, and there has been some speculation about a failed attempt at agreeing a swap deal with Newcastle.

Some outlets have reported that Joe Gomez was one of the names being offered by Liverpool to Newcastle, but I can’t confirm this. Newcastle and Liverpool had a contact for Gordon, as reported a few days ago, but a swap deal was never something close or concrete, so I don’t have this information I’m afraid.

In terms of names coming in for the defence, Marc Guehi has been linked with Liverpool (as well as other clubs) several times and he’s impressing with England at the Euros. There is interest from many clubs, but nothing close or concrete yet as he wants to focus on the tournament now and not be distracted. For sure Guehi remains an interesting name for this summer with two years left on his contract at Crystal Palace.

Ederson to Saudi remains one to watch

There is a lot of movement in Saudi Arabia – the market there has restarted and we’re heading into important days. Al Ittihad also have a new manager in Stefano Pioli, and something could happen from the Premier League in the next days.

One concrete possibility is for Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson to move to Saudi – it remains the case that he has proposals from Saudi clubs, as I reported at the end of May. There are discussions ongoing between Al Nassr and the agents of Ederson, though they’re not the only ones showing an interest. Ederson is open to a move to Saudi, and Man City are open to letting him go.

Now City are waiting for an official bid from Ederson, and of course a move will depend on the financial proposal. Still, City have been aware of this possibility since May and so they extended the contract of Stefan Ortega, because if Ederson leaves, Ortega will be the new first-choice goalkeeper for Pep Guardiola and City will bring in a new backup for that position.

Real Madrid remain ready to sign Davies and Yoro this summer if the money is right

Real Madrid have had a busy few months and they have two more big names on their list at the moment – Alphonso Davies at Bayern, and Leny Yoro of Lille. So what’s the latest with these players?

Real Madrid remain very keen on Davies and never stopped contacts on the player side. However, it depends on the asking price, because if Bayern put Davies on the market for a normal fee, Real Madrid are happy to start a negotiation, otherwise they are very happy with the squad they have.

If Davies were then to stay at Bayern but not sign a new contract, then the chances for Real Madrid to move for the Canadian left-back next summer as a free agent would be very concrete. So it could either be Davies now for a reasonable price, or Davies in 2025 if he doesn’t extend his contract at Bayern.

With Yoro, the situation remains quite clear – Real Madrid want the player, and the player wants to go to Real Madrid. The message to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain has always been clear – his desire is to go to Real Madrid, so he is pushing to go there and he is ready to wait for them.

Real Madrid don’t want to pay big money for a player who’s out of contract next summer, so it’s a similar situation as with Alphonso Davies, it would also in this case need to be a fair price. Still, there is the feeling that Lille would be ready to sell the player this summer, and this is why it remains a very strong topic for this summer, with contacts taking place.

For now, the only way for clubs like Man United, Liverpool and PSG to enter strongly into the race is if negotiations between Lille and Real Madrid collapse. In that case, Yoro could open the door to other clubs, but for now Real Madrid is his absolute priority.

Crysencio Summerville to PSG links explained

There has been an interesting story coming out about PSG being interested in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville. I’ve spoken before about the expectation being for Summerville to leave Leeds after they couldn’t win promotion back to the Premier League, and I’ve also reported on Summerville to Brighton being discussed, so what about these new links with PSG?

My understanding is that the situation is: Summerville shares the same agents as Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. PSG are in talks with Geertruida on personal terms, so Summerville was mentioned during talks but there’s still no negotiation ongoing between the clubs or the player’s agents. It’s an open race with Brighton and more clubs interested.

Bayern Munich look to be making significant progress on the transfer of Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, which could be significant for Liverpool in their pursuit of Joshua Kimmich.

CaughtOffside understands that Liverpool are among the clubs ready to step up their interest in Kimmich as he enters into the final year of his contract at Bayern, and Fabrizio Romano now has a further intriguing update.

There has been a breakthrough for Bayern in their efforts to sign Palhinha from Fulham, and it seems Romano expects it’s the most likely outcome that Kimmich will leave the Allianz Arena.

There still seems to be some chance of the Germany international signing a new contract with his current club, but that’s clearly not what Romano expects to be the most likely outcome at the moment, so that could be good news for Liverpool.

Joshua Kimmich is attracting interest from Liverpool

Kimmich has been a great servant to Bayern and one imagines some fans will be disappointed to see him go, though Palhinha looks a quality replacement.

Bayern Munich have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

That’s according to a recent report from HITC, who claims the Bundesliga giants are closing in on signing one of their long-term targets.

Coming close to moving to Bayern last January, Palhinha, 28, saw a last-minute approach collapse on Deadline Day.

Bayern Munich agree deal to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham

However, agreeing to allow the 28-year-old to leave if Bayern returned for him this summer, Fulham, now subject to a £42 million offer, have had little choice but to give the deal the green light for a second time.

Preparing to embark on a new challenge next season, Palhinha is expected to finalise his move to the Allianz Arena once the summer EUROs come to an end later this month.

Marco Silva identifies ideal replacement

With Palhinha seemingly heading to the Bundesliga, Marco Silva is thought to be on the lookout for a suitable replacement.

Brazilian midfielder Andre is speculated to be the Portuguese manager’s preferred choice, however, still with two years left on his contract, it remains to be seen how open to selling him club side Fluminense are.

Despite being just 22-years-old, Andre already boasts an impressive career CV. The young South American was first promoted to Fluminense’s senior first-team in 2021 and has gone on to make nearly 200 appearances since.

The Ibirataia-born midfielder is valued around £25 million by Transfermarkt, but given the wealth on offer in the Premier League, Silva’s Cottagers can probably expect to pay a fee much higher.

Bayern are still considered more than interested in Joao Palhinha and would like to sign the Fulham star this summer.

The Bavarian giants, however, appear likely to only post one final offer for the Portuguese international’s services.

At which point, failure to land the holding midfielder could see the Bundesliga outfit pursue Everton’s Amadou Onana as an alternative.

“FC Bayern would still like to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham. The third offer should still be the last. The club does not want to pay a total of more than €46m for the player,” Christian Falk wrote in his exclusive Fact Files column with CaughtOffside.

“Because Fulham wants more money, FC Bayern recently looked at Hakan Calhanoglu from Inter Milan. But the Italians also didn’t want to let the player go for less than €50m. Calhanoglu would have loved to come to FC Bayern. Only when it became clear that the move was failing due to finances did he make it clear by post that he wanted to stay at Inter.

“Bayern is therefore continuing to look for alternatives if Palhinha doesn’t work out. Amadou Onana from Everton is now an issue again. The Munich team now knows that Onana can leave for £52m [€61.4m at the current exchange rate]. The sum is higher than Palhinha, but Onana is also younger at 22 years old. The money would therefore be invested for the longer term.”

The Belgian’s current terms with the Toffees are set to expire in the summer of 2027.

It’s worth pointing out that Bayern Munich won’t necessarily have a clear run at Onana in the current window.

Most clubs are remaining patient ahead of the end of international tournaments, and in the meantime, Arsenal are said to be keeping a close eye on the Belgian international.

It’s just a ‘monitoring‘ stage as things currently stand, but things can, of course, quickly develop in the market.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have also been linked with a potential move for the Bayern target, though it remains to be seen how the Villans will deploy their funds this summer.

Bayern Munich could let Kingsley Coman go this summer as they close in on the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column today, Fabrizio Romano explained that there could be a chance for Coman to leave Bayern as Olise adds yet another option to their attack.

New Bayern manager Vincent Kompany has a lot of quality in that position, with Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane seemingly more likely to stay at the Allianz Arena, with Romano singling out Coman as the most likely of those three to leave.

The Olise to Bayern deal is edging closer to completion, and it seems Bayern will keep being busy this summer as Coman could leave while other targets are still on the club’s agenda, such as midfield duo Xavi Simons and Joao Palhinha, and Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, according to Romano.

Coman transfer following Olise signing at Bayern?

Kingsley Coman to leave Bayern Munich?

Discussing Bayern’s plans, Romano said: “Michael Olise will this week become a new Bayern Munich player. Everything is okay between Bayern and Olise, and they will pay his release clause at Crystal Palace – £45m plus £5m in add-ons.”

He added: “Bayern are now also working on other deals, including Jonathan Tah. The Bayer Leverkusen centre-back wants to go to Bayern, so let’s see if they can reach an agreement. For Xavi Simons, we’ll have to wait until after the Euros. With Joao Palhinha, negotiations between Bayern and Fulham are still ongoing, with the player pushing for the move.

“With the Olise signing, I’ve had some fans asking me questions about what it could mean for the futures of Bayern’s other attacking players. My understanding is that Bayern are happy with Leroy Sane, while Serge Gnabry has publicly said that he’d be happy to stay, so we’ll see what happens in case of proposals.

“Kingsley Coman is probably the player I’d say has the highest chances of leaving Bayern – he’s open to possible proposals and so are Bayern, but despite links with PSG the race is still absolutely open, it’s not something concrete or imminent, despite what’s been reported elsewhere.”

Sell-on clause complicates Riccardo Calafiori transfer

Riccardo Calafiori has made an impressive start with Italy at the Euros, but many of you will also know just how well he was playing at Bologna in Serie A all season. So what’s his situation in the transfer market this summer? Thiago Motta has of course just left Bologna to become Juventus manager, and we can say that Juve remain the favourites to sign Calafiori this summer.

Juventus have been working on the Calafiori deal for some time, they have a green light from the player as he’s keen on the move. The contract and salary won’t be a problem, but the issue at the moment is with Bologna – they really want to keep the player and they will make life difficult for Juventus or any other club interested in Calafiori.

For Bologna, it’s important to keep Calafiori as they will play next season in the Champions League and are already likely to lose another important player in Joshua Zirkzee, who has a €40m release clause. So this is why keeping Calafiori is crucial and Bologna will fight to do it.

Another reason is that Swiss club Basel, who signed Calafiori from Roma two years ago, would receive over 40% of any future sale worth over €6m. This is a big percentage, and so this is why it is not easy for Bologna to set a normal price for Calafiori – it has to be bigger because of this high percentage.

Still, Juventus are still there, Motta sees Calafiori as a crucial piece for the future, and Calafiori is keen on the move, so let’s see what happens. Negotiations won’t be easy as Bologna want to keep the player, or hope that maybe a crazy offer arrives from abroad, perhaps a club in England.

What next for Germany’s young superstars?

Germany have been my favourite performers of the Euros so far, but obviously it’s still very early and we still have to see many others! But the energy they had, the impact of Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz was something fantastic, really. If they keep going with youngsters shining and experienced legends like Toni Kroos helping them, it can be special.

Wirtz and Musiala starred in Germany’s 5-1 thrashing of Scotland. We already knew what big talents these two are, but now we’re also seeing them shine in a major international tournament, so what’s the latest on their futures?

For Wirtz, Bayer Leverkusen have been very clear this summer that the player is not for sale. When Xabi Alonso met for talks over his future in March/April, he got the guarantee from the club what Wirtz would not be leaving this summer. So for now he’s staying, but summer 2025 could be different.

We know many clubs will be there, Bayern Munich are always one to watch for a top German player, while clubs from England will also be there, even if for now the situation is quiet. It’s also true that there is appreciation from Real Madrid – people at the club feel that there is something about Wirtz that fits the Real Madrid style. Barcelona director Deco is also in love with Wirtz, even if for now the Financial Fair Play situation makes it almost impossible. Still, Deco has known Wirtz for a long time and considers him one of the future superstars of world football.

I think the future of Alonso will be important, because if one day he becomes the manager of Real Madrid, I would expect him to push to have Wirtz at the club. Still, for now he’s staying and so it’s important to respect Bayer Leverkusen and see what happens next season and what the situation is by summer 2025.

With Musiala, his Bayern Munich contract expires in 2026, but they’re preparing a new contract proposal for the player. Bayern are working on new contracts for a number of other players, but for Musiala it will be a special one in terms of the salary. After the Euros, negotiations will re-start, but it could be a problem for Bayern if they get to next summer and Musiala still has just one year left to run on his contract.

Interest in Musiala is strong, especially in England, where many clubs are waiting to see what will happen. Manchester City are big fans of Musiala, but it will depend on Bayern as they want to extend his contract, and losing a big German superstar like Musiala would be a big problem for Bayern.

More Bayern targets, including Joao Palhinha

Bayern are also still working on the Joao Palhinha deal – they are currently offering more than €40m, but Fulham want more than this as the package agreed last summer was higher, closer to €60m. There’s still a gap but talks continue, because Palhinha has agreed on personal terms with Bayern and he wants the move. At the moment, Bayern are pushing and I haven’t heard anything about other bids from any other clubs.

Dani Olmo’s name is also making headlines again and he could be one to watch this summer as I’ve previously reported. There’s interest from several clubs, I mentioned Bayern one month ago…but at the moment, during the Euros, still nothing concrete. There’s a chance for him to leave RB Leipzig as there’s a €60m release clause active so anything can happen.

Finally on Bayern, I have no information on bids being made for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo. The last approach from Bayern was in January, but now it’s quiet between Bayern and Araujo. For now, Bayern are working hard to sign Jonathan Tah after bringing in Ito. The situation around Araujo is quiet, he’s a crucial player for Barcelona so only a crazy bid could change the scenario.

Amadou Onana to Arsenal and Aston Villa rumours – the facts

Many of you have been asking me about the Amadou Onana situation. For now it’s certainly the case that Everton feel something could happen for Onana this summer, and that’s why they’re not accepting any proposal from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite – they received an offer of £35m plus add-ons from Man United but they said no, because they want at least £65-70m, so it’s not easy.

Still, it’s also important to say that Everton expect movement for Onana. We’ve had rumours about Arsenal but at the moment they have not received any formal proposal. Arsenal have been tracking Onana, he’s a player on their list, also last summer and in January, though they decided not to enter into conversations.

Arsenal keep monitoring Onana but at the moment there is nothing in terms of direct contacts, so let’s see what happens, but for Everton the expectation is for some clubs to move for the Belgian midfielder.

Onana has also been linked with Aston Villa, but my understanding is that Villa remain focused on the swap deal involving Douglas Luiz joining Juventus, with Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior moving in the other direction.

Erik ten Hag’s new Manchester United contract getting closer

A new contract extension for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United is getting really close. Everything is going very well in the negotiations between Ten Hag and Man United, and they hope to make it happen as soon as possible. They want to make it happen before the start of the new season because they believe it will be a crucial step to show the trust they have in Ten Hag after the long internal review they had this summer.

Conversations between Man United and Ten Hag’s agents are going well, there are still details to clarify, but there is hope to make it happen before the new season, which is really important for Man United’s strategy.

Bayern Munich are still working on the transfer of Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha and there doesn’t currently look to be any competition for his signature, according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Portugal international has shone in the Premier League and looks like he’d surely be a quality signing for a number of top clubs, though at the moment is seems like only Bayern are making serious moves to win the race for this deal this summer.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano provided an update on the Palhinha situation, explaining that it is now key for Bayern and Fulham to agree on a fee for the 28-year-old.

For now, the two clubs seem some way apart on the final amount to be paid for Palhinha, so it will be interesting to see if this can be resolved, or if it perhaps ends up dragging on and allowing other clubs an opportunity to enter the running.

Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich?

Palhinha transfer situation explained by Romano

It’s sure to be a busy summer for Bayern after such a disappointing season last term, with the club ending their long run of Bundesliga title wins, while they also under-achieved in the Champions League.

New signings like Palhinha could be crucial to help get the club back on track under new manager Vincent Kompany, with Romano providing an update on the situation.

“Bayern are also still working on the Joao Palhinha deal – they are currently offering more than €40m, but Fulham want more than this as the package agreed last summer was higher, closer to €60m,” Romano said.

“There’s still a gap but talks continue, because Palhinha has agreed on personal terms with Bayern and he wants the move. At the moment, Bayern are pushing and I haven’t heard anything about other bids from any other clubs.”
