Leicester City have been very active in the transfer market since their promotion back to the Premier League.

They have brought in four new signings to the club, but they must now look to offload their fringe players and make way for other incoming ads.

The Foxes have a bloated squad and they cannot afford to head into the new season with that. Selling some of their fringe players would be useful and a report from Leicester Mercury suggests that they could raise up to £52 million by selling the likes of Harry Souttar, Victor Kristiansen, Boubakary Soumare and Patson Daka.

The report states that Souttar could fetch around £10 million this summer and it will be interesting to see if Steve Cooper is ready to sanction his departure. His predecessor Enzo Maresca would have sold Souttar if he had stayed at the club.

Meanwhile, Kristiansen did not have a place under Maresca last season and he went out on loan with Bologna. It will be interesting to see if Leicester City are willing to sanction his departure for a fee of around £15 million.

Soumare was on loan at Sevilla last season and the Spanish club are reportedly keen on keeping him for the long term. A fee of around £10 million has been mentioned and it remains to be seen whether the Spanish outfit are ready to pay up.

The midfielder will want to continue in La Liga after having impressed with them.

Finally, Daka has had a difficult time at Leicester City this past season and it is time for the Foxes to move him on and bring him an upgrade.

The attacker is reportedly valued at around £12 million. It remains to be seen whether Leicester can get rid of their fringe players in the coming weeks and improve their squad adequately before the new season begins.

Leicester City forward Patson Daka’s twitter statement suggests he could be staying at the club despite relegation.

The Foxes’ nine-year long Premier League journey came to an end after they were relegated to the Championship on the last day of the season.

Following their relegation, a number of star players have been linked with a move away from the club. James Maddison is on top of that list.

The England star has been one of best attacking midfielders in the Premier League over the years and has attracted interest from some of the top clubs including Tottenham and Newcastle.

Youri Tielemans has already agreed a deal with Aston Villa who will be joining them on a free transfer.

Mewanwhile, Patson Daka has taken to twitter to express his feelings post relegation. It’s been a couple of weeks since Leicester were officially relegated and the player finally broke his silence over it.

He tweeted:

“It’s been weeks of reflection, but the feeling is still the same.

“I’d like to thank the LCFC community whose unwavering support was the brightest spot during what was a challenging season.

“Leicester will rise again, until then, let’s keep our fighting spirit alive.”

He joined Leicester City in 2021 from RB Salzburg. Since the move, he has made 74 appearances for the Foxes scoring only 15 goals and assisting another 8.

The return is not good enough to attract interest from top clubs but the centre-forward certainly has the potential and quality, having previously racked up 68 goals and 27 assists for RB Salzburg.

The English Championship is renowned for being one of the hardest leagues to get out of, and if Leicester City are relegated, they may find it is a long, long way back to the riches of the Premier League.

The Foxes are out of the bottom three on goal difference, so every point from now until the end of the 2022/23 season is vital for Dean Smith and his men.

Fulham, Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham stand between Leicester and the relegation trap door, and all four fixtures are unlikely to be easy.

Fortunately for Smith, his side have picked up a bit of form at just the right time.

After a period of one draw and nine losses in 10 games, the Midlanders are now unbeaten in three per WhoScored, winning one and drawing two.

James Maddison to leave Leicester City?

Clearly, Smith’s appointment and that of his experienced backroom team has had an effect, and they might just be able to get themselves out of the mire.

The board of the club will certainly be hoping so because Football Insider report that there’s expected to be a mass exodus if Leicester are relegated.

Those players mentioned as potential exits are; James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka, Kelechi Iheanacho, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, Ricardo Pereira and Timothy Castagne.

If that situation were to come to pass, it would put immediate pressure on Smith or whomever is the manager from the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

Losing such prominent players would severely weaken any chance Leicester might otherwise have of returning to the top-flight.

It hasn’t been the greatest of seasons for Leicester City or their striker, Patson Daka.

The 24-year-old Zambian striker has managed just four goals in 22 Premier League appearances this season per WhoScored, and is as culpable for the Foxes poor campaign as any other player.

With Brendan Rodgers recently leaving the club by mutual consent, it will fall to the next managerial incumbent to try and dig the King Power Stadium based outfit out of the relegation mire.

Leicester have nine games left to play in the 2022/23 season and are second from bottom with the worst recent record of all of the clubs that are threatened by the drop.

Jesse Marsch

To that end, the report from HITC that indicates Jesse Marsch is in the running to replace Rodgers isn’t likely to go down well with Foxes fans.

If Marsch wasn’t good enough for Leeds United, who sacked him earlier this season and replaced him with Javi Gracia, there doesn’t appear to be too much logic behind Leicester believing he’s the right man for the job.

That said, Daka might well be delighted by that particular appointment if it happens, as the report also states that the striker scored 61 goals in two seasons under the stewardship of Marsch at Red Bull Salzburg.

If he’s able to find his scoring boots for the final run in, and if Marsch happens to be the man installed, it might well lead to unexpected Premier League salvation.

Daka has just equalised for Leicester with a stunning left footed strike from outside the box.

Ben Chilwell gave Chelsea an early lead with a fine volley. And Felix had the ball inside the net again in the 34th minute but it was chalked off for offside.

5 minutes later, Leicester City have seen themselves level thanks to a moment of brilliance from Patson Daka. Ricardo Pereira received the ball and back heeled it into the path of Daka who took on a player before unleashing a fierce strike from distance straight inside the back of the net.

What a way to level things up. Watch the goal below:

Galatasaray are hoping to sign the Leicester City forward Patson Daka this month.

As per reports, the Turkish outfit have held talks with Leicester regarding a move for the 24-year-old and it remains to be seen whether they come forward with a concrete proposal now.

Leicester City paid €30 million for the forward back in the summer of 2021 and they will be hoping to recoup as much as possible for him.

Daka has been quite underwhelming since his move to Leicester City and he has scored just 3 goals across all competitions this season.

The Foxes need to bring in a more reliable goalscorer and it remains to be seen whether they can sign a quality striker at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, a fresh start could be ideal for Daka and the move to Galatasaray could be an interesting opportunity for him. He will get to play regularly with them.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement before the Turkish window closes. That said, weakening their squad this month might not be a wise decision from Leicester.

Leicester City have added a fourth against Nottingham Forest at the King Power Stadium in what has been a brilliant night for the home side.

The Foxes were in desperate need of a win tonight as they were rooted to the bottom of the league before kick-off and they have taken all three points in style.

Two goals from James Maddison and one from Harvey Barnes gave Leicester a 3-0 halftime lead and the fourth has now been added in style.

Patson Daka met a low cross from Maddison and finished with a cheeky back flick, in what was one of many marvellous goals on the night.

There were two big talking points in the Chelsea-Newcastle game. First was the Kai Havertz challenge on Dan Burn, with Havertz deemed to have used an elbow. Both players were jumping for the ball, both have got their arms raised for elevation and unfortunately Havertz catches Burn.

It looks like Havertz’s eyes were on the ball, so I can see why it wasn’t judged to be violent conduct. It’s a bit subjective and some might say it should have been a re card, but it’s not a clear and obvious error from the match referee David Coote. I think he got that right and that’s why VAR didn’t get involved. Having said that, if he’d felt it was a red card there wouldn’t have been a review either, because it’s subjective.

There was also a penalty shout for Newcastle, with Trevoh Chalobah on Jacob Murphy. For me, Chalobah’s clearly got a hold of his shirt, and cut across him as well, challenging him and bringing him down. If you look at the referee, he can’t see through players so you can perhaps understand why he’s not given a penalty straight away, but in that situation he’s got to make sure he’s got a good viewing angle. He’s got to get wider, we’re seeing referees become too lazy, relying on VAR and not making that decision themselves.

Still, I’m at a loss as to why VAR hasn’t got involved there. It was a clear and obvious error and Newcastle can feel hard done by. They’ve had a few like that this season, with Ederson’s challenge for Man City against Ryan Fraser coming to mind. We’ve seen a lot of inconsistencies and it’s mind-boggling at times. It needs to be seriously looked at.

Moving on to Everton against Wolves, Jonjoe Kenny can have no complaints about the red card. When you’re already on a yellow you can’t go making a challenge like that. Everton are fighting for their lives now and they need all the players they can get, but they can have no complaints about that dismissal.

There were a couple of talking points from the Arsenal-Leicester game. Firstly, the Ben White challenge on Patson Daka – that’s a clear challenge that should’ve resulted in a yellow card, but the referee’s not seen it due to the speed of the game. They can feel hard done by there, but VAR can’t get involved on yellow card offences.

Brendan Rodgers might feel hard done by on the penalty. It just hit Soyuncu on the hand, his arm was in an unnatural position, why is his arm that high? But then, the time it look to recommend that as a review, if you’re spending that long looking for a handball you can find what you’re going to find. It’s just clipped his fingers, yes, but if it’s taken that long to spot, is it a clear and obvious error? I’d imagine Rodgers might’ve been a bit disappointed with that.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has openly acknowledged the pace of Leicester City star Patson Daka.

Van Dijk is no slouch himself, and is one of the quickest defenders around, but even struggled to deal with the pace of the Leicester striker, whose pace he described as “crazy quick” when speaking BT Sport during a post-match interview following his sides 2-0 win over The Foxes.

He said: “We want to keep a high line because we know we can win the ball up high. It’s the risk you have to take.

“Today, I played against Patson Daka, who is crazy quick in my opinion, so you have to be ready.”

Daka, a summer signing from RB Salzburg, has scored nine goals in total for Brendan Rodgers side, four of which have come in the Premier League.

He is a long way off of emulating the aging Jamie Vardy in terms of his peak Premier League numbers or impact. But Daka has come up with some big goals for Leicester already.

In another reality, Daka would be on the same side as the Dutchman. On his Here We Go Podcast in September, Fabrizio Romano revealed the now 23-year-old would have been signed by The Reds in the summer if they had been able to offload Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri and super sub Divock Origi.

It’s funny how the transfer market can lead to a cascading of transfers occurring or not occurring.
