Leicester City are preparing for life in the Premier League without two of their key figures.

The Foxes have lost manager Enzo Maresca and midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.

However, they are actively looking to strengthen their squad under the leadership of new manager.

Football Insider reports that Leicester City are planning a move for Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp.

The newly-promoted Premier League team is looking to sign a midfielder who has experience in the league.

With the midfielder playing in the Premier League 77 times, he has exactly what Leicester City are looking for.

Under Ange Postecoglou, Skipp has failed to cement a place in the starting line up with the midfielder making most of his appearances last season from the bench.

Skipp has a contract with Spurs that runs until 2027, which puts Spurs in a strong position.

Leicester have identify Tottenham midfielder as transfer target

Having already sorted the future of Wilfred Ndidi by extending his stay at the club, the Foxes are now looking for another midfielder who can help them stay in the Premier League next season.

A move away from the North London club would be the ideal choice for the player and also for Tottenham.

Spurs can invest the money generated from his potential sale in funding their transfer business while the player can get more playing time.

Tottenham are planning to offer two players to Leeds as part of a deal for midfielder Archie Gray according to reports.

Leeds are facing the prospect of having to sell one or two of their key players this summer, having failed to win promotion to the Premier League last season.

Gray, who had a breakthrough season falls into that category along with the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto.

Tottenham could offer players as part of Gray deal

The 18-year-old made 52 appearances in all competitions for Leeds last season, and is one of the brightest talents in Europe.

Gray has been attracting interest from several Premier League clubs and it was reported on Saturday that Brentford had made an offer and a medical had been scheduled but on Sunday it was confirmed that Leeds had rejected that bid.

The Athletic reported that Tottenham are working on a deal to sign Gray, and talks are ongoing with an expectation that a deal can be reached even though nothing has been finalised yet, but the player’s preference is believed to be a move to north London.

Spurs are hoping to complete a move for Gray.

Leeds need to raise funds before Sunday’s profit and sustainability deadline and it appears Gray could be sacrificed so they don’t breach the rules.

The Times have reported that Spurs could use a player as part of the deal with two players under consideration to be a makeweight in the deal.

The report adds one of those players is Joe Rodon, who spent last season on loan at Elland Road where he made more than 50 appearances.

Rodon is under contract at Spurs until 2026, but is expected to leave this summer as he clearly isn’t part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

The Times add that the other player who could be used is Oliver Skipp, who has played under current Leeds manager Daniel Farke at Norwich.

However, it’s claimed there ae reservations about using Skipp, who came through the academy as part of the deal due to Spurs being back in Europe and needing to have a certain amount of homegrown players.

Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp is expected to seal a transfer to Leeds United very soon, according to claims made by former Spurs player Alan Hutton.

The 23-year-old has long been considered a fine young talent at Tottenham, but he’s no longer looking like someone realistically likely to get a lot of playing time in their first-team any time soon.

Skipp has previously gone out on loan to Norwich City, and it seems his former manager Daniel Farke, who is now at Leeds, is keen to work with him again.

Discussing Skipp’s future, Hutton said: “I think so. It always helps when you know the manager, and you can go to a club where you can settle in quite quickly and get to know the players in pre-season.

“We’re talking about a big team in Leeds who just missed out on going up, and that will be their remit next season. If I’m totally honest, I can’t see him being regular for Tottenham moving forward, I think they’ve got too many options in that number eight.

“He does do a good job, to be fair, when he comes in, but a move somewhere where he feels at home and is playing regular football is where we’ll see the best of him. Leeds will need reinforcements if they’re going to go up next year, so I think that could be a good move.”

Leeds were in the automatic promotion places for much of last season but ended up dropping into the playoffs, where they then lost the final against Southampton last month.

This means another campaign in the Championship for LUFC, but they could surely do well to snap up a talent like Skipp to add to their midfield and help them go a step further next season.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering offering two players to Leeds United in exchange for Archie Gray.

The Lilywhites have been tracking Gray for quite some time with Leeds’ failed push for promotion likely to hand Ange Postecoglou a significant boost in his pursuit of the 18-year-old.

And according to a recent report from The Athletic’s Dan Bardell, Spurs could tempt Daniel Farke’s Whites into parting ways with their talented number 22 by offering Oliver Skipp and last season’s loanee Joe Rodon in a double swap deal.

While Leeds’ level of interest in Skipp is unknown but a deal that could see Rodon return to Elland Road permanently will almost certainly tempt Farke.

The Welsh defender was one of Farke’s most-used players last season — featuring in 50 games in all competitions.

Leeds United are reportedly working on clinching a smart double transfer raid on Tottenham this summer as they prepare to rebuild for another promotion push next season.

Daniel Farke’s side suffered disappointment at the end of a mostly very promising season in the Championship, missing out on an automatic promotion place and having to settle for the play-offs, which then led to a defeat against Southampton in the final.

Leeds are now supposedly keen to try their luck with two signings from Spurs as they target both Oliver Skipp and Joe Rodon – two players who seem likely to be available.

Reports suggest Tottenham are in the market for a new midfielder this summer, meaning Skipp might move on, and it looks like Leeds are one of the teams ready to pounce.

Rodon, meanwhile, has been out of favour at Spurs for some time and could be an ideal signing for a club in the Championship with ambitions of breaking back into the top flight.

Skipp has previously played under Farke, so that could be useful for LUFC, though neither deal is done yet.

Tottenham Hotspur, like any other club, will already be thinking about their transfer targets for the coming summer window.

Ange Postecoglou has to be happy with how players such as James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have integrated at White Hart Lane, and would hope that any new additions can make a similar impact.

Financial Fair Play will also play a part in just how much money each club has to spend, whilst a UEFA ruling for those teams playing in Europe could affect the chances of one Tottenham player being handed the opportunity of moving away.

Oliver Skipp has only played for 644 minutes in the 2023/24 season according to WhoScored, and to that end it wouldn’t be a surprise to understand that he’d prefer a switch elsewhere to get some more match time.

However, according to The Boy Hotspur, UEFA rules will dictate that a 25-man squad for European games must have a minimum of four ‘club trained’ players with it.

Tottenham only have three ‘club trained’ players at present

At present, the Lilywhites only have Brandon Austin, Alfie Whiteman and Skipp as three of the four that the North Londoners could require.

On that basis there’s little chance of Skipp being sold by Daniel Levy and, in fact, it might also force the return of Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton, who Spurs are believed to have a buy-back option on.

Once Tottenham’s final position this season has been defined, then the board and management team can get to work on what’s required for 2024/25.

Glenn Hoddle has expressed admiration for Oliver Skipp following Tottenham Hotspur’s narrow escape from going 2-0 down against Brentford on Wednesday.

The first half against the Bees proved frustrating for Tottenham fans, with Thomas Frank’s side taking the lead within the first 15 minutes. It seemed their strategy was to frustrate Spurs and disrupt their rhythm at all costs.

Tottenham rode their luck, but Brentford also had opportunities to extend their lead before the break. One of those chances appeared to fall to Neal Maupay on the edge of the six-yard box.

Brentford managed to deliver a ball into the box, targeting Ivan Toney. As Toney seemed to be in an offside position, several Tottenham players appeared to switch off. However, Oliver Skipp remained vigilant and tracked Neal Maupay into the box, ultimately making a challenge to prevent the ball from reaching the striker.

Glenn Hoddle, speaking on TNT Sports, didn’t hold back in his praise for the 23-year-old’s intervention during the match.

“It’s a fabulous bit of defensive work as well. The little ball goes in, Toney’s offside, it’s true he doesn’t attempt to play the ball. He leaves it. But Skipp, his awareness defensively to get that is amazing. He covered the ground, it’s excellent defending.”

Skipp was one of the players who maintained his composure during a tense first 45 minutes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He executed a couple of well-timed tackles and diligently swept up whenever Spurs’ attacking pressure seemed on the verge of breaking down.

There is speculation surrounding Skipp’s potential departure from Tottenham in the summer, and it’s fair to suggest that he may not emerge as a superstar in Ange Postecoglou’s side. However, he consistently proves himself whenever given the opportunity to play, rarely letting the team down.

Gary Neville believes Tottenham midfielders Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are not good enough to play Ange ball.

Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr impressed Ange Postecoglou from day one and the pair have established themselves as the starting duo.

But Spurs are set to have a headache when these two will leave for AFCON in January and miss 4 to 6 games.

Tottenham have an injury crisis which has sidelined the likes of Bentancur and Maddison. They will be left with Skipp and Hojbjerg, the two players that Ange does not seem to fancy much.

While Hojbjerg has been a consistent and reliable performer for Spurs since coming in, his style of play is more passive and does not align with Ange ball.

Meanwhile, Skipp has failed to impress Ange as well, who has seen himself fall even below Sarr in the pecking order.

And Gary Neville has claimed that Ange has a ‘huge’ problem ahead of him in the absence of Sarr and Bissouma.

Neville told Sky Sports (via TeamTalk):

“I think the way in which Ange Postecoglou asks this team to play, Skipp is a good technical player, Hojberg is physical, but they both lack the other side of the game. Skipp can’t get around the pitch and Hojberg technically isn’t good.

“But this guy (Sarr) alongside Bissouma as well, they are just perfect for the way this team wants to play. They don’t win when he doesn’t play.

“They have the energy and the technical ability with the ball, they connect the back to front, they are brave and I have to say the most important thing for Spurs is that he has got to keep these players fit, but they do lose those two in January – that’s a big problem.”

Spurs are back to winning ways with consecutive wins over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. Their next game is against Everton next Saturday which will be a tough challenge for Ange.

Spurs are reportedly set to block the exits of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp in January.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, who claims recent injuries, including to Rodrigo Bentancur, have put the brakes on any plans to sell midfielders.

Hojbjerg, 28, and Skipp, 23, were expected to depart in the New Year. However, plans have changed in light of Bentancur’s latest injury which saw him suffer a ligament tear against Aston Villa following a heavy challenge from Matty Cash last weekend.

The Uruguayan is expected to be sidelined for nearly two months, which could allow both Hojbjerg and Skipp more game-time over the notoriously busy festive period.

Although it is now very unlikely any will depart, Ange Postecoglou is believed to be pushing to bring a new midfielder in.

The Lilywhites are also without James Maddison (foot) and Mickey van de Ven (thigh) — it is not known exactly when the pair can expect to return.

One man’s misfortune is another’s stroke of luck, and that definitely appears to be the case for a trio of Tottenham Hotspur players.

The Lilywhites have been unlucky in the sense that injuries to key players have dented their excellent start to the campaign, however, once Spurs begin to resemble their first choice XI once more, it’s entirely possible that they’ll continue their great work under Ange Postecoglou.

Rodrigo Bentancur was the latest to fall victim to the injury curse this season, and the knock he sustained during the recent game against Aston Villa will ensure that he won’t be back out on the pitch until next February.

According to The Telegraph (subscription required), that means a likely reprieve for both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp.

The outlet suggest that the north Londoners are unlikely to entertain any bids for the pair in January, and that’s despite the fact that Hojbjerg in particular has barely got a look in under the Australian.

Indeed, WhoScored report that he has only played 556 minutes in all competitions since Postecoglou took charge at White Hart Lane.

As so often happens in football pride needs to be swallowed to a certain extent, because the job still needs to be done.

If nothing else for Hojbjerg and Skipp, it’ll put them in the shop window for next summer, which is no bad thing if one or both believe their future is elsewhere in any event.
