West Ham United are keen on signing the Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters.

According to a report from Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham are currently locked in talks to sign the 27-year-old defender and Southampton are holding out for a fee of around £20 million.

In an interview with Give Me Sport, Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that West Ham have been trying to sign Walker-Peters for a while now and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree on a fee.

“They’ve been chasing Kyle Walker-Peters for a while now. Talks, I’m told, are still open with Southampton, but a fee simply can’t be agreed, between what West Ham are prepared to pay and what Southampton want.”

The 27-year-old could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Hammers who need to add more quality and depth to their defensive unit. Although West Ham have Vladimir Coufal at their disposal, it seems that they are looking to add more competition for places so that the squad can improve.

Ben Johnson recently left the club and Walker-Peters could be the ideal replacement.

Kyle Walker-Peters would improve West Ham

The 27-year-old has proven himself in English football over the years and he is certainly good enough to start for a team like West Ham. He will certainly fancy the possibility of joining the Hammers this summer. The reported asking price is certainly within West Ham’s affordability range but the Hammers are looking to sign him for a more reasonable price. It remains to be seen whether they can convince Southampton to lower their demands.

The former Tottenham Academy graduate will want to compete in the Premier League regularly and a move to the London club would be ideal for him. He is at the peak of his powers right now and he could make an instant impact at West Ham.

West Ham have brought in a quality manager like Julen Lopetegui and they will hope to secure European qualification next season. They need to improve their squad in order for that to happen.

West Ham are considering a move for Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters according to reports as they look for a new right back following Ben Johnson’s departure.

It’s set to be a busy summer at the London Stadium as the Hammers look to strengthen their squad ahead of Julen Lopetegui’s first season in charge.

So far the club have signed Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, centre back Max Kilman and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, with plenty more reinforcements needed if West Ham are going to qualify for European football.

West Ham eye Walker-Peters

The Hammers are on the hunt for more depth in the right back position following Johnson’s decision to join Ipswich on a free transfer.

Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to leave the club this summer, and has been linked with a move to the London Stadium, with journalist Dean Jones reporting that West Ham view a move for Walker-Peters as easier to do.

Walker-Peters is attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

“We know that West Ham are very seriously looking for a new forward and have tried on Jhon Duran, but also we will see them kick on in their bid to find a full-back,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“Man United are still waiting to discover whether they are serious about Wan-Bissaka.

“It has seemed like they have looked into a few other options that might be easier to do, and Kyle Walker-Peters is one of them, but certainly this is one of the areas they want to address quickly.

“Getting a deal sorted for Flynn Downes is helpful and the close-season negotiations with Southampton were always aimed at sorting out that situation before pre-season as we have reported recently.”

Walker-Peters had been linked with a possible return to Tottenham earlier in the summer, and the right back was part of the Southampton side which won promotion back to the Premier League through the play-offs last season, making 47 appearances in all competitions.

West Ham were heavily reliant on Jarrod Bowen for goals last season, and as well as having interest in  Jhon Duran, they are reportedly weighing up a move for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Tottenham are ready to step into the market to sign a new right-back this summer.

With Emerson Royal edging closer to an exit from the club, Spurs are ready to sign a new player this summer in the right-back position.

They have been linked with a move for Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters, who has also attracted interest from West Ham United.

Ben Jacobs has been talking about Walker-Peters and his future on Last Word on Spurs.

“With right-backs you’re right with what you say, there is room for one more. West Ham I’m told are more active on Kyle Walker-Peters. There were discussions with Walker-Peters and Flynn Downes going the other way. West Ham are still there while Spurs haven’t advanced anything on Walker-Peters,” Jacobs said.

Timo Werner and Archie Gray joined the Spurs this summer, and Ange Postecoglou is keen to add additional names to the squad.

The Hammers and Julen Lopetegui are more active in signing a new right-back this summer and they are leading the race to sign Walker-Peters.

West Ham have decided to back new manager to start a new era at the club and they are already makings some big moves having signed Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham this summer.

West Ham are set to target Kyle Walker-Peters, Matias Soule and Youssef En-Nesyri as their next three summer signings according to The Guardian.

After a slow start to the summer the Hammers are starting to click into gear and have signed Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras and Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United.

The club are set to complete the signing of Wolves defender Max Kilman, having had a bid of £40m accepted for the 27-year-old.

West Ham set for a busy window

It’s been all change at the London Stadium this summer with Julen Lopetegui replacing David Moyes, with a new era being ushered in at the club.

The Hammers need to strengthen their squad significantly if they want to get back into European football having missed out with a ninth placed finish last season.

Whilst the three signings they have made so far is a good start, more need to follow them through the door.

Walker-Peters is a summer target for West Ham.

West Ham could certainly do with further strengthening at full back and in the attacking areas, and Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg has named who he believe’s will be the club’s next three signings.

“West Ham want a striker, a midfielder and a winger, and have held talks with Southampton over signing Kyle Walker-Peters,” he wrote.

“The full-back could be part of a deal that takes Flynn Downes to Southampton.”

The other two names are Juventus attacker Soule and Seville striker En-Nesyri, who has been linked with a move to West Ham previously.

Soule can play across the frontline and impressed in Serie A last season whilst on loan at Frosinone, and his versatility no doubt appeals to West Ham.

En-Nesyri is believed to be available for around £17m and has worked under Lopetegui previously with the pair winning the Europa League with Seville.

If the Hammers were able to add these three names to their squad it would certainly set them up nicely for the new season, and they really need to hit the ground running under Lopetegui.

West Ham are close to completing a double transfer swoop.

They have been strongly linked with former Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters and Wolves star Max Kilman this summer.

And according to the latest report from Knees Up Mother Brown,  the Hammers are closing in on both deals.

West Ham closing in on two deals

The report claims that West Ham made an offer for the Southampton defender recently and are currently working on a player-plus-cash deal with the Saints that could involve midfielder Flynn Downes going the other way.

At the same time, they are also reportedly in negotiations with Wolves for their star Max Kilman.

It claims that their initial £25m offer was turned down and the club are now renegotiating a deal for the 27-year-old.

Both players are reportedly keen on a move to East London.

However, West Ham may face competition for Walker-Peters from Tottenham, as recent reports suggest that the Lilywhites are considering re-signing him.

Lopetegui replaced Moyes as new West Ham manager at the end of the season

The Hammers are expected to have a busy transfer window with new manager Julen Lopetegui aiming to build a strong squad to implement his preferred playing style.

Lopetegui replaced David Moyes at the end of the season. The former Manchester United manager came under fire for his passive style of play which did not yield results for them this past season.

West Ham under Lopetegui are expected to be more expansive and attacking in their play and with the talent that they have, it is exciting to see how they perform next season.

Of course a lot of that will depend on how successful Lopetegui is in getting his desired targets.

Tottenham are showing interest in Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters as they look to sign a new right back this summer according to reports.

Spurs could be in the market for a right back this summer if Emerson Royal departs, with the Brazilian attracting interest from AC Milan.

A potential Royal departure would leave Spurs needing a back-up for first choice right back Pedro Porro.

Spurs interested in Walker-Peters

Walker-Peters came through the ranks at Spurs, before being sold to Southampton in 2020, and he was part of the side which won promotion back to the Premier League last season.

Spurs have been linked with Monaco’s Vanderson who has a price tag of around £34m which they are reportedly put off by, but GIVEMESPORT report they are interested in reuniting with Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters is reportedly attracting interest from former club Tottenham.

The report adds that Spurs consider the 27-year-old as a cost effective option as they search for a back-up right back.

If Walker-Peters did rejoin the club he would count towards the home grown quota, but GIVEMESPORT add he would still have to be convinced of his role in the squad.

Former Spurs defender Alan Hutton believes the club could try and hijack Manchester United’s move for Jarrad Branthwaite, but it remains to be seen if Spurs are prepared to spend up to £70m on one player this summer.

The club haven’t done a lot of business, and so far they have only extended Timo Werner’s loan from RB Leipizig.

Spurs are believed to be in the market for a midfielder and a striker, with the club linked with moves for Conor Gallagher and Ivan Toney as they look to strengthen the squad in an attempt to get back into the Champions League next season, having missed out to Aston Villa by just two points.

Tottenham are being linked with a move for former player Kyle Walker-Peters ahead of the summer transfer window.

The club is currently undergoing a full-back crisis, with Destiny Udogie, Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies all out injured.

On the right side, Pedro Porro has established himself as a key player under Ange Postecoglou. However, the only backup option, Emerson Royal, has struggled to impress, specially within Postecoglou’s system.

To address this issue, Tottenham are expected to sign another full-back during the summer transfer window and recent rumours have linked them with their former defender, Kyle Walker-Peters, who is currently playing for Southampton.

In the latest development, club insider and lawyer John Wenham has expressed confidence that the English right-back would be eager to leave the Saints to rejoin the Lilywhites.

The 27-year-old’s contract at St Mary’s Stadium is set to expire next season, and with no extension in sight, a departure seems increasingly likely.

Walker-Peters has been a consistent presence under Russell Martin this season, starting in 45 games in the Championship and contributing three goals and three assists.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, making him a viable target for Spurs.

In an interview with Tottenham News, Wenham shared his thoughts on the potential return of Walker-Peters to North London.

Wenham on why Kyle Walker-Peters will be keen on a Tottenham return

He claimed that the former England international sees the move as a strategic step to enhance his career prospects and potentially re-enter the England national team setup.

Wenham emphasised several factors that might fuel Walker-Peters’ enthusiasm about returning to Tottenham.

He pointed out that Spurs, as a considerably larger club compared to Southampton, offer greater exposure and opportunities.

He told Tottenham News:

“Some people have asked me why Walker-Peters would want to return.”

“Firstly, Tottenham are a ginormous club compared to Southampton.“

“This season we have played such few games and there have still been several injury issues.”

“There will be plenty of minutes to go around next season, and Walker-Peters will be thinking that a move to Spurs could get him back in the England squad.”

Walker-Peters’ versatility to play on either flank of the defense would make him an attractive proposition for the club, addressing their immediate needs and providing depth for the upcoming season.

As Tottenham look to bolster their squad, Walker-Peters could play a crucial role in their plans to compete on multiple fronts next year.

Tottenham are reportedly considering a reunion with their former defender, Kyle Walker-Peters, as part of their plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites are eyeing a move to bring back the English right-back from Southampton, leveraging a clause in Walker-Peters’ contract that allows for such a return.

According to talkSPORT, Walker-Peters remains a viable option in Ange Postecoglou’s transfer strategy for the summer.

The Lilywhites are considering re-signing the English right-back from Southampton due to a clause in the player’s contract that allows for such a move.

At 27 years old, Walker-Peters has less than 15 months remaining on his current contract with Southampton, which is due to expire in June of the following year.

With no extension discussions underway, his potential departure from St Mary’s Stadium seems increasingly likely.

Walker-Peters could prove to be a decent signing for Tottenham

Walker-Peters has been a consistent figure in Southampton’s lineup this season, starting in 43 games in the Championship and contributing three goals and three assists to his team’s cause.

The London-born player offers versatility, having primarily operated as a right-back in 35 appearances, while also showcasing his adaptability by featuring on the left flank of the defence on seven occasions. (Transfermarkt)

Given his familiarity with the club and his ability to contribute effectively on both defensive flanks, Tottenham Hotspur could view Walker-Peters as a valuable addition to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Where Tottenham Hotspur end up finishing the 2023/24 Premier League season will have a bearing on a number of things.

Prize money, which will help to advance new signings – or not – as the case may be, european football next season if they able to keep up their current form – and more.

Whichever position they ultimately land on, Ange Postecoglou can give himself and his staff a big pat on the back for the job that they’ve done in what is the Australian’s first manager’s job in the English top-flight.

Tottenham need ‘club trained’ players

According to the Daily Express, should Spurs manage to end the campaign in the European places, they could be forced to re-sign their former defender, Kyle Walker-Peters.

Kyle Walker-Peters to Tottenham?

The outlet note that, at present, Tottenham don’t have the required amount of ‘club trained’ players in their squad.

UEFA regulations are, apparently, that each club in European football, must have at least four in their 25-man squad, and Spurs currently just have three in Oliver Skipp, Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin.

Clearly, Ange Postecoglou will need a bigger and better squad than the one that they have this season, and whilst Walker-Peters might not necessarily be his first-choice, it’ll be difficult for the North Londoners to try and circumvent the rules.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed to Spurs News that a move for the 26-year-old defender at the end of the season cannot be ruled out and Chelsea have looked at the former Tottenham defender as well.

“My understanding is they are looking for someone who can possibly play both sides, not Diego Dalot but someone of that ilk,” Bailey said.

“I wouldn’t necessarily rule it out, Walker-Peters is someone who Chelsea looked at as well. For these signings as well, the fourth centre-half I still think is probably Lloyd Kelly or Tosin Adarabioyo to come in on a free. Good Premier League players but at the end of the day, they are going to be fourth choice. Spurs don’t need to go and spend £60 million on a centre half.”

When Spurs sold him to Southampton, they inserted a £30 million buyback clause in his contract and it remains to be seen whether they decide to trigger it in the summer.

Tottenham already have two right-backs in Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal. Signing another full-back wouldn’t make a lot of sense. Tottenham have other priorities and they should look to improve the other areas of their squad first.

As far as Chelsea are concerned, they could certainly use a quality right-back as an alternative to Reece James. James has had his fair share of injury problems and Chelsea need a reliable backup option.

Kyle Walker-Peters to Tottenham?

Walker-Peters has been a key player for Southampton since joining the club and he has proven his quality in the Premier League in the past.

The 26-year-old will certainly be tempted to return to the top flight and the opportunity to play for clubs like Tottenham and Chelsea will be hard to turn down.

The defender needs to join a club where he will get ample first-team action and he should look to seek gametime assurances before making the move. It remains to be seen whether the player is keen on a return to his boyhood club at the end of the season.
