Liverpool and Aston Villa are targeting a move for the same player this summer.

The Reds have been quiet with their transfer business so far this summer having made no signings at all.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have made a number of impressive additions to their squad including midfielder Amadou Onana from Everton.

Both the clubs are now battling for Juventus centre-back Dean Huijsen, according to Football Insider.

The young centre-back is a long term target of both the clubs and they see him as a future star.

Huijsen impressed on his loan spell at Roma last season and since then, he has caught the attention of clubs in England.

Juventus have no intention of letting the player leave the club this summer and the fact that he has a contract at the club till 2028 shows Juve’s intention of keeping the player long term.

Both Liverpool and Aston Villa are looking for a new centre-back this summer.

The Reds need a partner for Virgil Van Dijk in their defense while Unai Emery is looking to add depth and quality to his squad ahead of Villa’s debut season in the Champions League.

More than Villa, Liverpool are desperate for a new defensive signing after losing Joel Matip this summer following the expiry of his contract.

It remains to be seen who wins the race to sign the defender but it all depends on what Juventus are planning to do with the young centre-back.

Liverpool are desperately looking to sign a new defender this summer after losing Joel Matip.

The Reds need a new centre-back who can partner captain Virgil Van Dijk in the Liverpool defense.

A number of centre-backs have been linked with a move to Anfield but nothing is advanced at this stage.

New Liverpool manager Arne Slot has still not made any signings at the club and the fans are anxiously waiting for a new addition.

The Reds were linked with a move for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi but according to Football Insider, the defender will prove to be too expensive for the Merseyside club.

Guehi has impressed some of the biggest Premier League clubs after his fine performances for his club and country.

The 23-year-old was one of England’s best performers at the recently concluded Euros, which the Three Lions lost after making it to the final yet again.

The Palace defender is a long term target of Liverpool but his £70milllion price tag is proving too much for the Reds.

Marc Guehi Liverpool Premier League
Marc Guehi is proving to be too expensive for Liverpool

After losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich this summer, the Eagles are demanding £70milllion for their valuable asset Guehi.

In order to keep him at the club and push away potential buyers, they have set a massive price tag for the central defender.

Liverpool consider Marc Guehi too expensive

However, Liverpool are not willing to meet the price tag set by Palace and they may look for other options in the market now.

The defender has two years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

His reliability and composure at the back can be an asset for any team that signs him but they would have to meet the demands set by Palace.

The defender will get his big move sooner or later as his impressive performances cannot be ignored for too long.

Liverpool are looking to sign a new centre-back this summer to partner with experienced defender Virgil Van Dijk.

The Reds had been linked with a move for Lille defender Leny Yoro who ended up at Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Arne Slot is still looking for his first summer signing at Anfield after joining the club following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Merseyside club have identified Juventus centre-back Dean Huijsen as their top centre-back target.

The report has mentioned interest from Aston Villa as well in the services of the defender.

After losing centre-back Joel Matip when his contract expired this summer, signing a new defender was always the priority for the Reds.

Liverpool have been linked with Yoro, Goncalo Inacio, Marc Guehi and a number of other centre-backs this summer.

They now seem prepared to make a move for the young Juventus defender, who spent time on loan at Roma last season and impressed with his performances.

The Premier League giants have identified him as their top target this summer, who could be crucial to Liverpool’s defensive options following the uncertain future of Van Dijk at the club.

The Dutchman is entering the final year of his contract at Anfield and with rumours of a move to the Saudi Pro League sooner or later, signing a reliable defender is a necessity for the Reds.

The Spanish defender is tied to a long term contract at Juventus that runs until June 2028, giving the Serie A giants the upper hand when it comes to potential negotiations between the two clubs regarding a transfer.

Liverpool need a new defensive addition this summer

The young defender is 6ft 5in tall and his physical presence can help the Liverpool defense.

The Merseyside club currently have the options of Ibrahima Konate, Jarrel Quansah and Joe Gomez to partner Van Dijk.

Konate has had fitness issues, Quansah is not experienced enough at the top level while Gomez has mainly been used as a full-back and is only good enough as a back up option.

With the Premier League season less than a month away, Slot needs a new defender who can have a preseason with the club and can get familiar with the manager’s playing style.

Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo appears to have revealed the club’s plan to replace Mohamed Salah this summer.

Mo Salah has been the star player for the club for the last several seasons, consistently performing season after season.

Salah’s outrageous numbers with Liverpool

Since joining the club, he has broken a number of records with his ridiculous goal-scoring numbers. In 349 appearances across all competitions, he has scored an incredible 211 goals and assisted another 89. That is 300 goal contributions in 349 games. (Transfermarkt)

He was one of the most important players for Jurgen Klopp, playing a key role in the success enjoyed under the German’s tenure.

However, his future as remained uncertain. Saudi Arabia have been after him since last summer with Liverpool rebuffing two massive bids from them.

But with the Egyptian’s contract set to expire next summer, Liverpool owners will not be allow their biggest asset to leave on a free transfer and could consider selling him this summer.

As such, it has been speculated that the club has been looking for potential long-term replacements for the Egyptian king, with the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Mohamed Kudus linked in the recent past.

Wataru Endo wants Takefusa Kubo at Liverpool amid links

Another player they have been strongly linked with in recent days is Japanese international Takefusa Kubo.

There have been contradicting claims regarding a move being in advanced stages with some reports stating that Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal for the player but some sources have refuted these claims.

Amid the rumours, Kubo’s Japanese counterpart may have accidentally confirmed Liverpool’s intentions of replacing Mo Salah.

Endo appears to accidentally reveal Liverpool’s plan to replace Salah

Speaking on ABEMA Sports Time, the LFC midfielder has seemed to talk up the possibility of his Japan teammate joining him at Anfield, in the process lifting the veil on one part of the club’s transfer strategy.

When asked if he could sign one international colleague for the Reds, Endo replied (as shared by AnythingLFC_):

“Maybe Kubo. They’re looking for a replacement for Mo Salah, so that’s probably going to be a real area for Liverpool to strengthen in the future, and if they think about who can replace him, I think it’ll be Kubo.”

Liverpool are not expected to make a move for Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo in the coming weeks despite recent reports linking the Premier League giants to the Japanese talent.

Japanese outlet Sports Nippon claimed that Liverpool had agreed a deal to sign the 23-year-old for a fee in the region of £50m, but that is not believed to be the case according to transfer expert Matteo Moretto.

The Merseyside club were linked to Kubo back in January but Moretto states that this latest story is just an old one being dug up again.

The transfer journalist is not aware of anything imminent between the Merseyside club and the Real Sociedad winger and nothing should be expected between the parties throughout the rest of the transfer window as things stand.

Kubo has been with the La Liga club since 2022 and has impressed many during his time in San Sebastián.

With Mohamed Salah having turned 32 this summer, Liverpool will be on the lookout for his replacement in the future and that may lead them to Kubo. However, the Japanese star is likely to be playing his football with Sociedad this season, where he has a contract until 2029.

Nothing concrete between Liverpool and Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo

Writing in his latest exclusive column for CaughtOffside’s The Daily Briefing, Moretto addressed the latest links between the Merseyside club and the Japanese international, playing down the Premier League club’s links to the winger.

“Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo was linked with Liverpool during the winter transfer window, and this week fresh reports have emerged about Liverpool potentially activating his €60m release clause,” the transfer expert said.

“My information on this is that there is nothing concrete in the works, and I’m not aware of any talks with him over a move either.

“It’s an old topic that has come up again, and from what I’ve been told, in recent hours, and in recent days, we should not expect anything imminent for Kubo.”

New Liverpool coach Arne Slot has made the decision to fully assess his squad during the Reds’ upcoming pre-season tour of the United States before bringing new players to Anfield ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The Dutch coach has a lot of work to do before the Merseyside club take on Ipswich Town in their Premier League opener on 17 August as pre-season has not been ideal for the 45-year-old.

The former Feyenoord boss has not had many of his starting players to work with so far this summer as many of Liverpool’s squad went deep into Euro 2024 and Copa America. Stars will gradually start to return over the coming days and weeks, but it remains to be seen how that will impact Slot’s team during the opening part of the new season.

The international tournaments could not have come at a worse time for the new Liverpool boss as pre-season is the period when a new coach gets to implement his philosophy into his players and most of the Reds’ big stars have been missing.

However, patience will be needed in all areas of the club this season, as it is a period of transition following the long successful reign of Jurgen Klopp.

Arne Slot makes major Liverpool transfer decision

According to The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, Liverpool have not signed any players this summer as a result of Slot wanting to fully assess his squad during the Reds’ upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.

The Premier League giants’ last game on this tour is against Man United on August 3 in South Carolina, therefore, the final month of the transfer window could be very busy for Liverpool.

Although this may worry fans, this is the correct approach as Klopp left a strong squad behind at Anfield for Slot – evident in their premature Premier League title challenge last term.

The Merseyside club need two or three quality additions before the transfer window shuts and Slot will know exactly what areas need to be strengthened once the final whistle goes in South Carolina on August 3.

Former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might be making a return to England after a brief stint in Turkey.

Ox joined Besiktas last summer as a free agent after being released by Liverpool. He signed a three year contract with the Turkish side, making 30 appearances, scoring 4 goals and assisting one across all competitions.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could return to England

But it appears that the new manager in charge, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, does not see the 30-year-old as part of his future plans

Besiktas are now looking to offload Oxlade-Chamberlain and are offering him to various English clubs.

According to The Sun, the Turkish side is interested in loaning him out, provided the majority of his wages are covered by the club that takes him on.

Last summer, there was interest from several English teams, including Brentford and Sheffield United. While there are no new reports linking him to any specific English clubs at the moment, interest might reignite now that he has been made available.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s success with Liverpool

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool from Arsenal for a £35m fee, and although majority of his time was marred with various injuries, he did play a role in the Reds’ success under Jurgen Klopp.

He made 146 appearances for them, scoring 18 and assisting 15 across all competitions. During his time there, he won the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup and the FA Cup among other trophies.

As Besiktas seeks to find a new home for Oxlade-Chamberlain, it remains to be seen which English club will step up to bring the experienced midfielder back to the Premier League.

West Ham United have reportedly submitted a bid for the potential transfer of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, even if a deal looks difficult and expensive for the Hammers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham have had some talks over signing Summerville, while they’ve also tabled an official proposal to Leeds, though this is not currently considered a deal close to completion.

It remains to be seen if West Ham will be able to afford the talented young Dutchman, who has also been monitored by big names like Chelsea and Liverpool in recent times, as Romano previously told CaughtOffside via his exclusive Daily Briefing column.

Summerville might be more realistic for clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool, but it would seem they’re yet to step up their interest and make actual concrete efforts to sign the 22-year-old.

If West Ham could win the race for Summerville then it truly would be an impressive statement by the east Londoners, but it remains to be seen where he’ll end up.

Roma have also had Summerville on their list this summer, as Romano notes elsewhere in his X post above, so perhaps they’ll emerge as a concrete option again later in the window.

Summerville transfer: Is he good enough for Chelsea or Liverpool?

Given that West Ham’s efforts seem likely to be in vain, could we see bigger clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool come back in for Summerville after previously scouting him?

Crysencio Summerville to West Ham, Liverpool, or Chelsea?

Arne Slot could surely do with making some changes in attack this summer after inheriting a Liverpool squad that ended last season poorly, and which has the ageing Mohamed Salah and injury-prone Diogo Jota up front at the moment.

Chelsea, meanwhile, could surely find that Summerville is an upgrade on flops like Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, even if he’d represent a bit of a gamble due to his lack of top level experience.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to swoop for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin in a surprise move this summer, with the Ukraine international keen to leave the Bernabeu.

The Reds already have Alisson as their number one, but it could be that new manager Arne Slot wants competition for the Brazilian shot-stopper.

Reports in Spain suggest Liverpool look like being an opportunity for Lunin as he assesses his options this summer, with the 25-year-old keen to avoid being backup to Thibaut Courtois next season.

Lunin ended up playing a lot of games for Madrid last term while Courtois was out injured, but it seems he’s now not keen to go back to being on the bench for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

It seems a bit surprising, therefore, that Liverpool are now being linked with Lunin as he’d surely not be a guaranteed starter at Anfield while Alisson is still around.

Andriy Lunin to Liverpool?

Lunin transfer: Do Liverpool need the Real Madrid goalkeeper?

It may be that Slot, who is coming in to replace Jurgen Klopp, has some big plans in goal for the club, and it might end up being the case that Alisson doesn’t fit his playing style.

Lunin is certainly a fine talent and a big opportunity on the market, so perhaps there’s a chance we’ll see him join LFC, while Alisson could move on.

The former Roma man was linked strongly with Saudi Pro League clubs last summer, and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see those links come up again, especially as the likes of Al Nassr, Al Hilal and Al Ittihad are known to have missed out on Manchester City’s Ederson.

Alisson would be a fine alternative, and it might give Liverpool an opportunity to make decent money from an ageing player, with Lunin an ideal long-term replacement in that position.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Chelsea youth player Rio Ngumoha.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 16-year-old winger has already agreed on a move to Liverpool and he has decided to leave the Chelsea academy. The Reds are now working to secure his signature.

The 16-year-old’s registration is going through Premier League’s five-step investigation process and the transfer could be confirmed in four weeks.

Ngumoha is highly rated in England and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for Liverpool if they can get the deal done. Chelsea will be thoroughly disappointed after failing to keep a talented young player like him at the club. Losing him to a direct rival will be even more disappointing for the Blues.

Chelsea have shown a willingness to rely on young talents in recent seasons and losing Ngumoha will come as a bitter blow. Meanwhile, Liverpool will be hoping to help the 16-year-old continue his development and establish himself as a first-team player for the club in the coming seasons.

Liverpool want to sign Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea.

Liverpool could nurture Rio Ngumoha into a star

Liverpool have a proven track record when it comes to nurturing young players and Ngumoha will certainly fancy his chances of breaking into the Liverpool first-team in the coming seasons.

The 16-year-old winger is capable of operating on either flank and he will add pace, flair and technical ability to the side. With the right guidance, he could establish himself as a first-team player for the club.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the country and the opportunity to join them can be hard to turn down for most players. It is no surprise that the Chelsea academy graduate is tempted to move to Anfield this summer.
