Manchester United are considering appointing Wolves manager Gary O’Neil about taking a coaching role at Old Trafford.

New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to reshape the structure of the club by appointing a coach rather than a manager.

According to a report from ESPN, the Red Devils want to appoint O’Neil but they are unsure whether he would replace Erik ten Hag or work alongside him.

Nonetheless, the report notes that “no decisions have been made” on Ten Hag’s future as of yet.

Man United have not made a decision on ten Hag

Ten Hag may have had some breathing room after United’s exciting FA Cup victory against Liverpool before the international break, but the club’s leadership has not yet decided whether or not to keep him on for the upcoming season.

As Ratcliffe and company consider whether Ten Hag is the right man to lead the team into the future, they have been linked with Gareth Southgate, Thomas Frank and Roberto De Zerbi in the last few days.

Gary O’Neil to Man United?

Although O’Neil has been informed that the Red Devils are considering him, it is unknown what kind of job they are willing to offer.

O’Neil may be a part of the Red Devils’ plans to reorganise their coaching staff this summer.

Wolves have a three-year deal with him, so if Man United step up their interest, they would probably have to pay compensation.

Man United continue their off the pitch appointments

Ratcliffe would be making another bold move off the pitch if O’Neil decides to sign with Man United.

He has already managed to lure Omar Berrada, a highly regarded man, away from Manchester City, and this summer he will assume the role of CEO.

The Red Devils are also eyeing Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth to become their new sporting director.

A number of further changes are expected at Old Trafford in the summer under the new leadership of Ratcliffe.

An overview of all the action from Saturday’s 3pm Premier League matches, with changes to the top half and relegation zone in the table.

Earlier today Manchester United saw off rivals Manchester City in the 189th instalment of the Manchester derby. Erik ten Hag’s side completed an emphatic comeback to win 2-1 late in the game.

Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0 Liverpool

The Seagulls have continued their impressive form by adding to Liverpool’s woes; a 3-0 win at the Amex has Brighton in seventh place in the league, with Roberto De Zerbi eyeing those lucrative European places.

Liverpool have now suffered back-to-back league defeats by a three-goal deficit after their 3-1 loss to Brentford on January 2. They sit eighth-placed and are currently seven points off the top four.

Solly March scored a brace and Danny Welbeck netted the third.

Everton 1-2 Southampton

A clash that was crucial to both sides’ survival hopes swung in the Saints’ favour, who are likely still buzzing off their Carabao Cup progression after knocking out Manchester City midweek.

Boos rang around Goodison Park with deafening chants of “sack the board” as soon as the full-time whistle blew. Pressure is heaped on Frank Lampard’s shoulders, though he seemingly remains backed by the Everton faithful. The change they want to see is above the manager.

The Toffees sit 19th whilst Southampton sit 20th, the clubs are level on points.

Amadou Onana scored for the Blues and James Ward-Prowse netted a brace for his side.

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Leicester City

Nottingham-born Brennan Johnson etched his name onto the scoresheet twice in the Midlands derby to see off the Foxes with no response.

Both teams were in the relegation zone earlier in the campaign but have significantly improved their form since then.

Forest are 13th and Leicester are 15th.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 West Ham United

David Moyes is another manager whose role is under considerable threat after a lacklustre start to the season. After reaching new heights with the Irons, he has failed to get his side into any positive form so far and faces calls by the supporters to be relieved of his duties.

Daniel Podence scored the only goal of the game at the Molineux Stadium, with Wolves currently two points away from the bottom three.

The Hammers are in 18th and face 19th-placed Everton next.

Arsenal will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points.

The Gunners can head in to the prolonged international break with a five-point advantage over their competitors following Manchester City’s 2-1 loss at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta’s side take on an out-of-form Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux. Wolves are currently sat rock bottom of the league after picking up only two wins all season and accumulating 10 points.

Arsenal will have several key players travelling to Qatar to represent their countries at the World Cup, including Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White and Bukayo Saka. A notable omission was centre-back Gabriel, who was not chosen to feature for the Selecao despite his impressive run of performances.

Arsenal lineup

Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Jesus.

Barcelona and Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their reported bid to land Ruben Neves this summer.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Wolves, with United needing to replace Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, while Barcelona are also said to be keen.

Neves has been excellent for Wolves over recent years, and he is being tipped to take the step up, still only 25 years of age.

But he will not come cheap, or anything close to it this summer.

According to The Sun, Wolves will ask for as much as £75million for their Portugal international this summer.

That is likely to be a problem for United, who are not likely to spend that much on a player, closing in on a big-money deal for Frenkie de Jong.

Meanwhile, Barcelona can be ruled out if that price tag is true, struggling from financial difficulties and unlikely to spend anywhere near that figure.

Liverpool striker Takumi Minamino has rejected the chance to stay in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has been with the Reds for two years, making 55 league appearances, scoring 14 times.

During his spell, he also spent time away on loan with Southampton, and he will leave having only played a small role for the Reds.

He will leave with three titles to his name, though, including the Premier League title, and his exit will come this summer.

The forward is likely to leave this summer, two years ahead of his Anfield contract coming to an end, and reports claim he will join Monaco on a permanent deal.

According to Football Insider, the Japan international did have the chance to stay in the Premier League, but he has rejected a deal.

According to the report, Wolves tabled an offer to sign Minamino this summer, but the offer was rejected, with the forward deciding he wants to join Monaco.

Manchester United are being backed to make a fresh bid to land Wolves star Ruben Neves this summer.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Portuguese midfielder this summer, with Erik ten Hag desperate to improve his midfield.

United need to replace Paul Pogba, who will leave Old Trafford when his deal expires at the end of this month.

Neves could be the man, but he will not come cheap for United.

According to The Transfer Exchange Show, United are now readying a £42million deal, having had a £35million offer rejected in January.

Wolves are said to want £50million, with Neves under contract at Molineux until 2024.

According to the report, Neves has told his agent, Jorge Mendes, he would rather stay in England for family reasons.

That’s important because Barcelona have also been linked, meaning United hold an advantage.

But given it would be a transfer between two Premier League clubs, the Red Devils will likely have to pay that premium.

Barcelona are said to have moved to the front of the race to sign Ruben Neves.

The Wolves star appears to be in demand this summer, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Barca all linked.

Neves has impressed with Wolves over recent years, and still only 25 years of age, it’s starting to feel like the right time for him to make a step up.

Wolves are not likely to make it easy for any club to pull off a deal, with head coach Bruno Lage slapping a ‘£100million’ price tag on the midfielder earlier this season.

Whether that is an accurate price tag or not remains to be seen, but in the meantime, Barca are pressing on in their bid to complete a deal.

According to Sport, Blaugrana boss Xavi Hernandez has already put a call in to Neves personally in a bid to get ahead in the race.

For now, it seems, Arsenal and United are playing catch up.

Manchester United are said to be weighing up a fresh bid for a midfielder.

United will need to sign at least one midfielder this summer, with Paul Pogba set to leave at the end of his contract.

And a number of players are already being linked as we wait for the summer transfer window to officially open.

One of the main players being linked is Wolves star Ruben Neves, and United already had a bid rejected for Neves during the January window, according to the Daily Star.

That bid was worth £35million, and Wolves are said to want as much as £50million for their Portuguese star.

Whether United are prepared to match that value remains to be seen, but according to The Sun, Erik ten Hag is now lining up a fresh offer.

It will be interesting to see just how close United get to that value, and indeed whether they can get their hands on their target.
