One fan on a mobility scooter also joined the protest—taking the opportunity to vent his fury against the Oyston family.
Hundreds of supporters came onto the field at the beginning of the second period of the club’s final game of the season, against Huddersfield Town—a last resort against the club owners.
Fans had already taken part in various protests in and out of the stadium. Flares were lit and banners were displayed, all requesting the departure of the club’s detested owners.
Stewards at Bloomfield Road proved unable to shift the unhappy fans and the contest was ultimately abandoned.
This didn’t dissuade the unhappy fans, who made their way towards the directors’ box.
The invasion and abandonment brings the curtain down on a desperate campaign for Blackpool.
The club were relegated to the third tier last month—six games before the end of the season—and end the campaign at the foot of the second tier, having amassed only 25 points from 45 matches.
