Newcastle United have now been given the green light to press ahead with the moves for Lewis Hall and James Trafford.

The Magpies have already completed the signing of Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer and they are looking to improve their squad further. Lewis Hall, who was on loan at Newcastle last season from Chelsea, will join the club permanently for a fee of around £28 million.

On the other hand, Newcastle are hoping to improve their goalkeeping department and they have identified James Trafford as a target. The Burnley goalkeeper is valued at £20 million and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle can secure an agreement with the Clarets for Trafford.

The transfer window is now officially open and the Magpies will be able to finalise the two deals now.

Both players will add quality and depth to the side. Newcastle had a disappointing season last year and they will look to bounce back strongly. They need to bring in more quality this summer and the likes of Hall and Trafford will be long-term acquisitions. Both players are quite young and they are extremely talented with a bright future. Newcastle could help them fulfil their tremendous potential in the coming seasons.

The signing of Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke from the Magpies. He is a proven performer in the English top-flight and signing him for free represents a real bargain.

Meanwhile, Hall and Trafford could develop to keep players for the club in the coming seasons and Newcastle fans will hope that they can fulfil their tremendous potential in the near future.

The two players are likely to cost a combined total of £48 million.

Newcastle will look to plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window and bounce back strongly next year. It will be interesting to see if they can secure Champions League qualification and do well in the domestic competitions.

According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Newcastle United are getting closer to landing James Trafford, and as long as negotiations go on, the team will reach a resolution with Burnley.

Eddie Howe has identified Trafford as a possible candidate in his pursuit of a new goalkeeper who might serve as Nick Pope’s dependable backup.

Giorgi Mamardashvili was discussed by the Magpies and Valencia, but it soon became apparent that the Georgia international would be beyond their means.

Following Trafford’s exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s final England squad for the Euros last week, Newcastle have concentrated their attention on him.

While Downie acknowledged that the Clarets rejected Newcastle’s initial offer, which was reportedly between £15 and £16 million, he believes that the fact that negotiations have proceeded is a sign that both sides are optimistic about reaching a deal.

Downie made this admission on the Loaded Mag transfer show.

Lewis Hall, who joined the Magpies on loan from Chelsea last season, has already signed a permanent deal at St. James’ Park.

Defender Lloyd Kelly is also set to be signed by Newcastle on a free transfer. The central defender has signed to a five-year contract with the Magpies.

Due to the departure of Loris Karuis, the uncertainty surrounding Martin Dubravka’s future, and the recent recovery of Pope after a long-term injury, the Magpies are hoping to strengthen their goalkeeping options this summer.

Eddie Howe will be back by Newcastle United

Newcastle are expected to be active in the market to bolster their squad and add players in every position.

After suffering an injury crisis last season that ultimately ruined their chances of qualifying for Europe, they are determined to add quality and depth to their squad.

A new striker and midfielder is also expected to arrive at the club this summer, with the Magpies close to completing the signing of defender Kelly and making progress to sign Trafford to add to their goalkeeping department.

How Juventus can make Douglas Luiz transfer happen

There were some interesting updates yesterday on the situation of Douglas Luiz. He could really leave Aston Villa in this summer’s transfer window, and he’s a concrete option for Juventus.

Firstly, in the next hours, Thiago Motta will sign his contract as new Juventus manager, until 2027, and then Teun Koopmeiners is an absolute priority for Juventus in midfield, and the player is super keen on the move. Juve can make both deals happen with outgoings and players involved – it’s not easy, but they are working on both deals.

So, Juventus will work on Koopmeiners, but they see an opportunity with Luiz. There are, however, two crucial points. The first one is the salary – Luiz has an important salary at Aston Villa, and so his salary with Juve would have to be in line with what they give to their other big players, or the deal is not going to be possible. And the other crucial point, as of today, is that the only way for Juventus to make this transfer happen is with a swap deal. Juve can’t go to Villa and pay €60m – they want to negotiate with Villa and this will follow in the next days, but the only way is with a swap deal.

In terms of players who could be involved, Juve are prepared to discuss Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior. Both players are out of contract next summer at Juventus, and not currently close to extending their contracts. Both players are being discussed, but the cash will also be crucial for Aston Villa.

If it doesn’t work out with Juventus, other clubs could enter the race for Luiz, as there is also interest from the Premier League. Luiz is open, the salary will be important, so let’s see what happens.

Benjamin Sesko is staying at RB Leipzig

Benjamin Sesko is staying at RB Leipzig – the decision has been made by the player and his agent after taking their time. He had possibilities from Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal – these three clubs offered Sesko the possibility to join Premier League football.

But, Sesko had a new contract proposal from Leipzig since three weeks ago and he decided to accept. It’s an important contract, he’s expected to be the star of the squad, a key player for Leipzig next season, and an important player for the manager Marco Rose.

Sesko decided to stay because he decided this was the best option for his development, something similar to what Erling Haaland did in summer 2021 when he was at Borussia Dortmund.

So, Sesko stays and his new contract will be signed in the next 24 hours, and then a future in the Premier League is still very possible, but not for this summer. Sesko is staying at RB Leipzig.

Are Man United really hijacking the Joao Palhinha transfer?

I wanted to clarify something on Joao Palhinha because yesterday we had some reports in England about interest from Manchester United and Barcelona. However, at the moment, Man United are still waiting to resolve the manager situation before attacking any position for the market.

Of course, United are still keeping an eye on the market, but they will not advance in any negotiations until they know who is going to be their coach. So at the moment Palhinha is not negotiating with Manchester United, we’ll have to wait and see what happens there with Erik ten Hag, or if they decide to go for a replacement.

Palhinha was also linked with Barca, but with their Financial Fair Play situation at the moment, they can’t go there and spend €40-50m on the Fulham midfielder. So, interest is there, but in terms of a concrete story, Bayern Munich have an agreement with Palhinha on a contract – the wages, the project – and Palhinha wants to go to Bayern.

Now, Bayern need to agree a fee with Fulham and they will push hard this week to try to reach an agreement as soon as possible. Fulham are obviously playing their game, but at the moment a hijack is not expected, with Bayern working hard on the Palhinha deal, and with new manager Vincent Kompany giving his green light to the board, so it’s on the Bayern board to make it happen. The negotiation with Fulham will continue, so let’s follow that, step by step.

Youssouf Fofana is leaving Monaco and would be perfect for English football

As reported yesterday, Youssouf Fofana is 100% leaving Monaco this summer. At the moment it’s a calm situation, nothing close or advanced with any club for Fofana from what I heard. He just wants to try something new and Monaco don’t want to lose him for free in 2025, so both parties are keen on an exit for this summer.

Let’s see who will enter the race as it’s still early, but in my opinion, he’s really perfect for English football, I can see him doing well in the Premier League…last summer, he was on Manchester United’s list.

Michael Olise is wanted by Man Utd and Chelsea but player sales could be crucial

Michael Olise is a player Manchester United like, he’s been on their list for months and so that could be one to watch, but we also know that Chelsea have been closely monitoring him as one of their targets for this summer after they were really close to signing him last year.

So, Chelsea are still there, but United as well. With United it’s really important to make some room financially with the sale of someone like Jadon Sancho, and also Mason Greenwood. They have to sell both players, and I think the amount they get from these two deals will be really important to see how much they can invest on a winger like Olise.

A lot of fans have been asking me more about the Sancho situation, but for the moment all I know is what I’ve shared, so I don’t have information yet on other clubs who could join the race along with Borussia Dortmund.

What I’ve been told is that Man United expect other clubs to join the race, not only Dortmund. As for Sancho, he loves BVB and staying there has always been his priority but the financial package could be an issue, so that’s why the situation is 100% open.

Barcelona want to keep Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix

Pep Guardiola spoke yesterday to confirm that Manchester City and Barcelona will soon have a conversation about Joao Cancelo. Barca will go strong for Cancelo after his loan from Man City last season, and the plan is the same for Joao Felix in the next days and weeks. It could take some time because Financial Fair Play clarity is needed, but Barcelona want to keep the two players.

James Trafford to Newcastle is advancing

Newcastle are advancing on a deal to sign James Trafford from Burnley. They have an agreement with the goalkeeper on personal terms, and they are working on a new bid in excess of £15m after their first proposal was rejected. Trafford has already said yes to the move.

Dortmund working on Serhou Guirassy transfer as top priority

Borussia Dortmund are working on signing a striker, and Serhou Guirassy remains their top target. They have been working on this for a few weeks, and there is a release clause in Guirassy’s contract at Stuttgart, of around €17.5m. Guirassy will take his time to consider all the options, but Dortmund are really pushing to make it happen. They want to be fast, but it’s not easy because many clubs are attracted by Guirassy. Dortmund’s intention now is to advance talks on the player side in the next days and weeks because they really want to sign the Guinea international, who they regard as perfect for their project.

Arsenal still working to keep wonderkid goal machine

Despite some talks of Arsenal wonderkid Chido Obi Martin now being in advanced negotiations with Bayern Munich, I’m told the situation with Obi Martin is still open. Bayern and Borussia Dortmund have been showing interest in the talented young striker for months, but Arsenal are still there and still trying to get him to sign a new contract and keep Chido at the club. Let’s see what happens in the next days.

It’s going to be the most interesting of summers for Newcastle United in the transfer market.

No longer able to just splash the cash on whomever they wish, the Magpies need to have one eye on Financial Fair Play before making a leap with any business they conduct before the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

That will immediately rule them out of signing certain players unless the Saudi Public Investment Fund and Eddie Howe are willing to accept that other players would need to be sold or loaned in order to land new targets.

Newcastle ruling out Mamardashvili signing

The other issue that they will find this coming season of course is that there is no European football for potential signings to look forward to, thus narrowing the talent pool significantly.

In some respects, not having the extra workload might actually help Newcastle in the Premier League, and in 12 months time, they could be in a far healthier position than they ended the 2023/24 season.

Newcastle won't sign Giorgi Mamardashvili
Giorgi Mamardashvili is no longer on Newcastle United’s radar.

There’s no doubt that a gruelling Champions League campaign last season – their first in more than two decades – took its toll on the team, with Howe and his backroom staff having to cope with a large amount of injuries across the season.

As the campaign wore on, so the Magpies kept sliding down the Premier League. The final insult was when Man United won the FA Cup against Man City, a result which meant that Newcastle were bumped out of Europe altogether, having been placed in the Europa Conference League position by virtue of their final Premier League finish.

With all of the above in mind, Relevo have reported that Newcastle have now definitively turned their backs on signing Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili becasue of the asking price.

The Northern Echo suggest that Burnley’s James Trafford is now the preferred goalkeeping target, and the Clarets will be forced to listen to any offers given their relegation from the Premier League.

Newcastle United are pushing to complete the signing of Burnley’s James Trafford this summer and following an underwhelming season in the Premier League, fans of the Magpies have their worries.

12 months ago, the 21-year-old was a highly-rated goalkeeper having played a huge role in England winning the under-21s’ European Championship. The Burnley star went through the entire tournament without conceding a goal, while saving a 98th-minute penalty against Spain in the final.

Trafford’s stock has dropped since as he experienced a tough season in the Premier League with The Clarets, making several mistakes on the way to the club getting relegated back down to the Championship.

Despite this, Newcastle are looking to sign the 6ft 3in shot-stopper this summer as the two clubs are currently in talks to get a deal done, reports The Athletic.

The transfer has a lot of fans at the Tyneside club worried after what they saw this season from the 21-year-old; however, given his age and past achievements, one bad campaign should not define the Englishman.

Alan Shearer believes James Trafford has been unfairly treated ahead of potential Newcastle move

Speaking about Trafford on The Rest Is Football podcast earlier this year, Newcastle hero Alan Shearer believes that the goalkeeper was unfairly treated this season given his age.

“I think it’s been a really tough season for him and at times, I think he should’ve been taken out,” the Match of the Day pundit said. “I think it’s been a mistake by Vincent [Kompany] to leave him there at times where he’s been under huge pressure, mistakes.

“And when that happens, I think you’re sometimes better off taken out of the team to sit back and have a look and reflect and give the job to someone else because goalkeeping is a very tough position anyway.

“But someone who’s so young and inexperienced, to come into the Premier League and be asked to do such a huge job, it’s a tough ask and I think it’s been unfair on him at times.”

Tuchel, Sancho and Greenwood latest at Man United

There’s been a big update on the Manchester United manager situation as my understanding now is that Thomas Tuchel and Man United are not expected to reach an agreement for the former Bayern Munich manager to become the new manager at Old Trafford. I can confirm Christian Falk’s report here that Tuchel had a meeting with Man Utd, they had many contacts and Tuchel was always considered the favourite candidate in case United decided to part ways with Erik ten Hag.

A decision on Ten Hag has not been made yet, so what’s going on? As I’ve said recently, Man United are having meetings with several agents and representatives of managers to make sure they assess all the options on the market before making a decision on a new manager, or on keeping Ten Hag.

Tuchel was the favourite of these options because he had direct conversations with Manchester United, and direct contact with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, but my understanding now is that Tuchel wants to take a break from football this summer. Tuchel doesn’t want to take any job for now, so his decision is to leave the conversations. Tuchel wants to take a break, he had talks with Man United but he’s currently planning to relax and wait for new opportunities in the future, but for sure, Tuchel was the closest to getting the job in case they considered a change.

Let’s see what will happen, if Man United will try to make one last effort or not, or if they decide to continue with Ten Hag or consider someone else for the job. But at the time of writing, Tuchel’s intention looks clear – to not continue in talks with Manchester United, so they are not expected to continue this conversation for the former Chelsea manager to take over at Man United. Now it’s on Manchester United to decide what they want to do, what happens with Ten Hag and other candidates.

In the next days, the next hours, we expect Man United to make a decision on Ten Hag and to clarify their plans for the future of the club in terms of the manager, but it’s an important update on Tuchel, and there’s also an important update on Jadon Sancho, because the position from Man United now is really clear – they are prepared to sell Sancho this summer.

Regardless of who will be manager, Man United will try to find a solution for Sancho. They want to sell Sancho and make some money from his departure, and the same is true for Mason Greenwood. United want both players to leave, and for now the plan is to enter into concrete conversations over Sancho to find a solution. When they discussed this internally, they indicated that £40m is the fee expected for Sancho if he is to leave the club.

Borussia Dortmund are obviously interested in keeping Sancho after signing him on loan in January. He’s one of their priority targets but £40m could be too expensive, so let’s see what they decide to do with Sancho, but for sure the interest is still there and the player is still keen on Borussia Dortmund. Still, Man United also feel that there could be some possibilities with other important clubs around Europe, so that’s why they are open to the market, and open to selling Sancho for around £40m, so keep a close eye on this one in the next days and I will keep you posted, but we don’t expect to see Sancho in a Man United shirt next season unless something crazy happens.

In terms of other manager updates – Roberto de Zerbi is waiting for an opportunity, he’s really keen on a new chapter in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino also feels ready, let’s see if something moves. Despite rumours, Graham Potter was never close to Brighton return, with Fabian Hurzeler expected to become the new manager soon. Stefano Pioli was Napoli’s plan B but the priority has always been Antonio Conte, so he’s now open to other options.

Joao Palhinha expected to join Bayern, but what does it mean for Joshua Kimmich’s future?

We can now say it looks like the Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich deal is going to happen. Bayern have agreed personal terms with Palhinha – the contract is agreed, the salary is agreed, and Palhinha is super excited about the possibility to join Bayern.

The initial Bayern proposal to Fulham was €35m plus add-ons, which Fulham rejected, but early next week the two clubs will talk again and the expectation is to reach an agreement for a fee of around €40-45m. Bayern will push again, but for now they have an agreement with Palhinha, and he expects Fulham to help him make this transfer to Bayern happen.

Why? Because last summer a transfer for Palhinha to join Bayern was 99.9% done. On deadline day of summer 2023, Palhinha travelled to Munich and everything was set – even the pictures of Palhinha with a Bayern shirt. But then Fulham were not able to find a replacement, they wanted Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and other players but they were not able to make it happen, and so the deal collapsed.

Since then, Palhinha was super professional – he didn’t complain about not being able to join Bayern, he played a fantastic season under Marco Silva, trained in a fantastic way, didn’t ask for a transfer in January, and so this is why Palhinha now expects Fulham to give the green light and let him go to Bayern.

Let me clarify one final point – new Bayern manager Vincent Kompany has approved the Palhinha deal. The Portuguese midfielder was a target for Thomas Tuchel last summer, but Kompany also wants the player, Bayern have always been the most interested club, and I now expect this transfer to happen because there is big optimism around all parties involved to keep pushing and make this transfer happen soon.

I’m still receiving many questions on Joshua Kimmich’s Bayern future and my understanding is that Bayern’s position is very clear – they are not negotiating a new deal for Kimmich, the situation is completely quiet as the player is focusing on the Euros, but the feeling is that if Bayern receive an important proposal for Kimmich this summer, they will be open to considering it. Unless they reach a new deal agreement, and at the moment it’s on total standby, they are prepared to let him go.

Let’s see who will approach Bayern, but for now it’s not something advanced or concrete. Still, the name of Kimmich could be one to watch for this summer’s transfer window, and also other incomings for Bayern – remember the name of Jonathan Tah, who is still a player Bayern want, along with Palhinha, so they could be busy with incomings.

Major ins and outs to watch at Juventus

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been approached by Al Nassr. The Polish shot-stopper has been offered a two-year contract with a really important salary, and Al Nassr will now also make an approach to Juventus, who are open to letting him go. Szczesny can leave Juventus and so it’s up to him to decide if he wants to go to Saudi.

Another important player at Juventus facing an uncertain future is Federico Chiesa. The Italian winger is out of contract next summer, and his agent will discuss the future of the player next week. Discussions are going to take place for the future of Chiesa. There is interest from Napoli but not only them, there is also interest from abroad and this is why I expect Chiesa could be one to watch in the next days.

Chiesa’s agent will speak to Juventus but the feeling is that the club could be open to letting the player leave this summer. They could then use the money from his sale on several other deals they want this summer, such as Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta and Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

So, this meeting between Chiesa’s agent and Juventus could be important, because Chiesa knows that Juve will have a new manager in Thiago Motta and so he and his camp are exploring options around Italy and elsewhere. Napoli and Antonio Conte are interested in Chiesa, but, again, it’s not the only solution there so this looks like one to watch for this summer’s transfer window.

Another player to watch could be Douglas Luiz because Aston Villa are under pressure financially to sell one player in the next weeks, and there is interest in Luiz from Juventus. Again, Juve’s top target is Koopmeiners, so Luiz would have to be an opportunity, perhaps with a swap deal, while clubs from the Premier League will also move. Luiz has always been appreciated by Arsenal and he was close to joining them two years ago, so let’s see if they decide to return or not, though at the moment they are not actively working on this one.

Still, Luiz looks like one to watch for Juve, Arsenal, and maybe other clubs too because for Villa, the Brazilian midfielder could be one to watch in terms of possible outgoings to stay in line with Financial Fair Play.

Busy summer of outgoings at Tottenham?

Tottenham are prepared to clear players out and make some changes to their squad. Tanguy Ndombele could be one of the names to watch, while Gio Lo Celso is also one name who could leave this summer. He has just one year left on his contract and there are no talks over an extension, so there are many possibilities in different countries.

Real Betis could be one option for Lo Celso, but not the only one, there are also other clubs interested, so keep a close eye on him as someone who could leave Spurs in this transfer window.

As reported, Unai Emery appreciates Lo Celso but Villa are currently busy on other deals, including Ross Barkley. A loan deal is not an option because his contract is short, has to be a permanent move and I don’t think he’s going to stay at Spurs, I see him leaving. For sure, La Liga is an attractive destination for Gio.

The situation also remains the same on Emerson Royal – from what I’m hearing, he would absolutely love to join AC Milan. He has two years left on his contract so Tottenham want an important amount of money, something like €20m, though Milan want to pay less than this, also because the player has an important salary. Let’s see how club-to-club discussions will go, but he is giving his priority to Milan even though there is also interest from Villarreal.

Bryan Gil and Alejo Veliz could be other players to watch, with the latter of those two expected to leave on loan, so for sure there could be movement for Tottenham in terms of outgoings as they are prepared to let several players leave.

Chelsea close in on new signing, plus Broja sale update

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of talented young right-back Pedro Lima, who could become the next big South American talent to join the Blues after Kendry Paez, while Estevao Willian is another expected to join.

We also know there will be outgoings at Chelsea this summer, and one player to keep an eye on is Armando Broja, who has been linked with Everton, among others, but what’s really going on?

My latest understanding is that the Everton board like Broja but with their financial situation, it’s all on stand-by now. It’s not something imminent or close, interest is there as well as from many other clubs as Broja is 100% expected to leave Chelsea on a permanent transfer this summer.

Trafford to Newcastle latest as Ramsdale considered too expensive

Newcastle United are in club-to-club talks to sign James Trafford from Burnley, so let’s see if they will be able to agree a deal. Talks are ongoing, while other goalkeepers such as Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale are also appreciated by Newcastle but considered too expensive because of the Financial Fair Play situation at the club.

Trafford could be an easier deal, could be cheaper, and Newcastle consider him a very good solution. Talks are taking place, Trafford would be keen on the move, so it’s an important one to watch for Newcastle in this transfer window.

Real Madrid relaxed over fitting Endrick and Mbappe together

Endrick continues to shine for the Brazilian national team, and it’s going to be interesting to see how he and Kylian Mbappe fit in together at Real Madrid next season.

All people at Real Madrid are quite relaxed, they’re sure that Endrick will shine and nothing will change with Mbappe’s arrival. Endrick is considered a fantastic talent, Real Madrid believe their early move for him in December 2022 was the perfect strategy to get one of the best gems in the world.

Personally, I’m really excited to see him playing in Europe next season, he looks like a top, top talent and ready to make the step up to this level.

According to The Sun, Burnley are seeking £30 million this summer for goalkeeper James Trafford in the midst of interest from Chelsea and other Premier League clubs.

Even though Trafford had a challenging first season in the Premier League with Burnley, a team that was relegated, he is still considered one of the best and most promising goalkeepers in the country.

After being relegated to the Championship, the Clarets want twice as much money from the Blues as they paid Manchester City last summer.

In the 38 league games that Burnley played last season, Trafford started 28 of them.

However, he was benched for the remaining 10 games by former manager Vincent Kompany in favour of Arijanet Muric.

The new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca sees Trafford as the long term choice for the goalkeeping position.

Maresca has worked with Trafford before at Manchester City during his time as a coach under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

The Blues are targeting a move for a goalkeeper who would suit the possession based style of the new manager.

James Trafford to Chelsea?

Maresca plays similar to how Guardiola plays, with the goalkeeper building play from the back and for that he needs someone who is good with the ball in his feet.

Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez are impressive when it comes to shot stopping ability but with the ball in their feet, they are not as well-equipped as the Burnley goalkeeper.

Chelsea face competition from Newcastle United to sign the English goalkeeper.

The Magpies have turned their attention to Trafford due to Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale’s high price tag.

Chelsea need a new ball playing goalkeeper

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Trafford and where he would be playing his football next season.

Chelsea’s interest in the player makes sense, who are looking to provide their manager the right platform to instill his philosophy and bring players who are comfortable in playing the style of football he prefers.

The west Londoners have already secured the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo to improve their defense and a move for Trafford could settle another position for long term in the starting line up.

England star is a priority for Newcastle

Burnley’s James Trafford is a priority for Eddie Howe as the Newcastle manager looks to add to his goalkeeper position this summer. The Magpies also like Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili but both are considered too expensive. The 21-year-old would provide competition for Nick Pope, who missed a lot of the season through injury. I’ve no news on Liverpool and Chelsea being interested in Trafford despite the Premier League giants being linked to the Burnley goalkeeper.

Newcastle will now enter club-to-club talks with Burnley, so let’s see how it goes. Whatever fee they agree on for the England star, Man City will receive 20% of any future sale.

New contract at Man City could see key player leave the Premier League champions

Stefan Ortega has signed a new two-year deal with Man City until 2026 as the Premier League champions like the player and he trusts the project going forward. This move is also linked to the future of Ederson as I told you two weeks ago that City are open to the potential exit of the Brazilian goalkeeper. The player’s agent has been exploring options for weeks, so we have to wait and see.

Ederson is yet to decide his Man City future
Ederson is yet to decide his Man City future

However, this is not something guaranteed as it will depend on the proposals and the decision of the player. Man City have left it in the player’s hands, but if the Premier League champions receive a good proposal, they will not stand in the goalkeeper’s way. City consider Ortega a top goalkeeper and are happy to enter the 2024/25 campaign with the German as their number one.

This Ederson story is one to keep an eye on as there is strong interest from Saudi Arabia.

Erik ten Hag’s future at Man United is 50/50

This weekend is a very intense one behind the scenes at Man United, despite things being very quiet around the future of Erik ten Hag. However, many things are happening.

I’m told that Man United are still talking to the representatives of other managers as the future of Ten Hag is still not safe as of right now. The Manchester club are yet to make a decision on their Dutch coach and are taking their time to make sure they make the right move. There are many people involved in this, including the board and the new co-owners.

The situation is still 50/50 as we wait for Manchester United to make their final decision.

Luis Guilherme to undergo West Ham medical next week

Luis Guilherme’s move from Palmeiras to West Ham is verbally done, but before the transfer is Here We Go, we wait for the player’s medical to be completed and the contracts to be signed.

The medical tests will take place early next week between Tuesday and Wednesday with the winger travelling to England on Sunday with his agent. The 18-year-old will then sign a five-year contract at West Ham.

The Brazilian is a very talented winger and the work of technical director Tim Steidten has helped bring the player to West Ham as he travelled to Brazil to get the deal over the line. The transfer was not an easy one to complete but the Premier League club made it happen.

The signing of Guilherme will cost West Ham a guaranteed €23m with €7m add-ons, with the Brazilian club receiving 20% from the 18-year-old’s next move.

Update on Man United’s centre-back search

Internal talks are currently ongoing over bringing a new centre-back to Man United, however, nothing will be done before they make their final decision on the future of Erik ten Hag, which should arrive soon.

Once the manager situation at Old Trafford is clarified, there will likely be a more concrete update about Man United’s search for a new central defender. I can say that Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Juventus’ Gleison Bremer are all on the Premier League club’s list of targets. However, many options are being assessed for the role of new centre-back at Man United.

Brighton close to appointing 31-year-old coach

31-year-old Fabian Hürzeler is set to become the new manager of Brighton after helping St. Pauli get promoted to the Bundesliga this season. We are waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement on the compensation fee, but this is considered only a matter of time as negotiations are going very well.

Hürzeler already has an agreement in place with Brighton regarding his contract, his salary and the project at the Premier League club, so the deal is done. Once the compensation fee is agreed, the St. Pauli coach will be confirmed as the new manager of Brighton and the youngest in England’s top flight.

In other news…

Caoimhin Kelleher – There has been no update yet on the future of Caoimhin Kelleher at Liverpool, with everything very quiet at present. Liverpool consider him an important player, and they are very happy with him. The only way that changes is if the goalkeeper decides that he wants to leave this summer, but it’s still all quiet there.

Alphonso Davies – There has been no change in Alphonso Davies’ situation despite reports stating that he is leaning towards signing a new deal with Bayern Munich. The player has a new contract proposal from Bayern and Real Madrid are waiting to see what he does. We just have to wait and see what the full-back decides. If Davies wants to leave, Real Madrid will make their move, but the La Liga champions will only proceed with favourable conditions.

Crysencio Summerville – Liverpool and Chelsea have both been scouting Crysencio Summerville for months, but then in terms of negotiations, nothing has started yet. Talk of the Reds no longer being interested in the winger can’t be true as it is still early for this transfer. The appreciation from both clubs is still there, so we have to see if they decide to approach Leeds for Summerville at some point during the transfer window.

Newcastle United have made Burnley’s James Trafford a priority target for the summer transfer window as Eddie Howe looks to add a new goalkeeper to his squad.

The Magpies boss was without his first-choice keeper, Nick Pope, for the majority of the season as the Englishman picked up a shoulder injury back in December. This has prompted Howe to assess the goalkeeper position at St. James’ Park as he wants to provide competition for the 32-year-old.

The Tyneside club had eyes on Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili but both are considered too expensive for the upcoming transfer window.

Burnley’s James Trafford is now Newcastle’s top target and the Premier League club are set to enter talks with the Clarets over a deal, states Fabrizio Romano.

The England star had a tough first season in the Premier League with Burnley as his performances ultimately led to the 21-year-old being dropped by Vincent Kompany. However, given his age, the youngster has many years to develop his game further and has already shown plenty of promise for Howe to work with at Newcastle.

Writing in his latest exclusive column for CaughtOffside’s The Daily Briefing, Romano has given an insight into Newcastle’s search for a new goalkeeper this summer.

“Burnley’s James Trafford is a priority for Eddie Howe as the Newcastle manager looks to add to his goalkeeper position this summer. The Magpies also like Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili but both are considered too expensive,” the transfer expert said.

Newcastle have submitted an offer of around £16m for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford as Eddie Howe continues his search to add a new goalkeeper to his squad.

The Magpies were without Nick Pope for the majority of this season due to injury and the Newcastle boss would like for competition for the 32-year-old.

According to the Daily Mail, Howe is an admirer of Trafford and that has resulted in the Tyneside club submitting a £16m bid for the England international. However, that is set to be rejected as The Clarets are holding out for a £20m fee.

Discussions over a deal to sign the 21-year-old are currently ongoing and it will be a transfer that Newcastle will want to wrap up quickly as the report states that there is interest in the Burnley star from ChelseaLiverpool and Bayern Munich.

The 2023/24 campaign was a tough one for Trafford as he was prone to many errors during his first season in the Premier League and was ultimately dropped by Vincent Kompany as a result of his performances.

Nevertheless, the youngster has shown signs that he can be a top goalkeeper and could be on the verge of completing a big move.

Liverpool monitoring James Trafford as Caoimhin Kelleher’s replacement

The Daily Mail mentions Liverpool as a potential next destination for Trafford and the Reds will likely make a move for the 21-year-old if Caoimhin Kelleher departs Anfield this summer.

The Ireland international has been Alisson’s backup for many years now and being 25, the goalkeeper has the desire to be a starter at a new club for the 2024/25 campaign.  Nottingham Forest and Celtic reportedly have an interest in the Irishman, and should he be sold, that’s where Liverpool could move for Trafford.

However, it looks like Newcastle are determined to get a deal done for the Burnley man and by the time Kelleher’s future has been decided, Trafford will have already switched clubs.
