Brazilian midfielder Fred has been linked with a return to the Premier League.

A report from Fotomac claims that Newcastle United are keen on the 30-year-old midfielder and they could look to bring him back to the Premier League.

Fred joined Fenerbahce at the start of the season and the 30-year-old has been a key player for the Turkish outfit. His performances have attracted the attention of Newcastle who are now keen on signing him as an alternative alternative to Sandro Tonali.

The Italian international midfielder has been banned for 10 months for his involvement in an illegal betting scandal. Newcastle will have to bring in quality replacements and Fred could be a useful short-term acquisition.

It will be interesting to see 30-year-old is keen on a return to the Premier League in January. The report claims that Newcastle could submit an offer as soon as the transfer window reopens.

Fred in action for Manchester United

Newcastle certainly have the finances to get the deal done, but they need to convince the player first. Fred moved to Fenerbahce in order to play regularly. He was struggling for regular game time at Old Trafford. Newcastle might have to provide him with gametime assurances before the transfer can happen.

The Magpies are currently competing in the UEFA Champions League and the opportunity to join them will be an attractive proposition for most players. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months.

To this point, things have gone very well for Manchester United in the summer transfer market.

Erik ten Hag has pinpointed the players that he wants for the Red Devils, and the club have gone out and concluded their business efficiently.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have all been secured already with an expectation of more to come.

There is the small matter of outgoing transfers too, with deals supposedly in the pipeline for Fred, Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and, potentially, Scott McTominay.

For ten Hag, the sooner he knows exactly which players will still be with him next season the better. Surely the last thing that the Dutchman wants is to bed down his team and squad more generally, only to find that it still changes significantly over the course of the next few weeks, before the transfer window closes.

One player that the club have been looking to move on is Donny van de Beek, and it was believed that La Liga outfit, Real Sociedad, were getting close to unveiling the player.

However, on Saturday, Mundo Deportivo (h/t Manchester Evening News), noted that the deal had completely collapsed.

There is no longer any interest from the club, who are now, apparently, looking to pursue a deal with Dynamo Moscow for Arsen Zakharyan.

Manchester United are set to sell Fred to Fenerbahce.

That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has given the Brazilian midfielder his trademark ‘here we go’ slogan.

Becoming the latest player to leave the Premier League giants following the recent departures of several first-team players, including David De Gea and Phil Jones, Fred, who was originally signed by former boss Jose Mourinho, is now preparing for a new challenge.

Despite being subject to a late approach from Turkish rivals Galatasaray earlier on Thursday, the South American appears to have chosen Fenerbahce as his next destination.

Overall, fans will look back at the Brazilian’s time in Manchester fondly. Although the 30-year-old failed to reproduce the performances of some of the club’s most iconic central midfielders, his work rate and commitment to the cause were never questioned.

Since his transfer to Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, Fred, who has represented Brazil on 32 occasions, directly contributed to 33 goals in 213 games in all competitions.

Manchester United are preparing to sell Fred.

The only question is which club will the Brazilian join before the summer transfer window closes at the start of next month.

Fulham are believed to be interested in the Manchester United midfielder but with Fenerbahce recently offering the Premier League giants £13 million, including add-ons, the Turkish league looks to be the favourite destination for the 30-year-old.

However, in a dramatic twist, domestic rivals Galatasaray have re-emerged in the race to sign the former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder, despite cooling their interest earlier in the window.

The rapidly developing situation is the ideal scenario for Manchester United, who will be hoping a bidding war breaks out in order to maximise their return on the out of favour South American.

During his five years at Old Trafford, Fred, who has just 12 months left on his contract, has directly contributed to 33 goals in 213 games in all competitions.

So far, so good in the transfer window for Man United.

Erik ten Hag has identified a handful of targets and, without exception, the club have secured them. Harry Kane was never an option given that Daniel Levy was always unlikely to sell Tottenham’s star man to a direct rival.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have all signed on the dotted line, but there’s still plenty of business to be done over the course of the next few weeks according to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.

‘Today and in the next days, Man United will be busy with many deals,’ he wrote in his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack.

‘Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay; West Ham’s opening bid was rejected, but United will stay in contact.

‘[…] Fred will 100 percent leave Manchester United this summer… there is an ongoing conversation between United and Real Sociedad for Donny van de Beek. Still no agreement, but the two clubs are speaking because the player is keen on the move.’

The aggressiveness that United have shown in negotiations for incoming transfers now needs to be replicated in order to get a ‘best price’ for those players that are now considered surplus to requirements.

Being so definitive in the transfer market seems to be a hallmark of the ten Hag style as much as his tactical acumen and man management.

The Dutchman appears to have complete tunnel vision when it comes to who he wants and who he doesn’t, and there’s clearly an expectation from him that deals are done quickly either way.

It’s a way of working that’s sharp and direct, and can only be of benefit to the squad and club. Compare and contrast ten Hag’s and United’s way of doing their transfer business with West Ham and David Moyes for example. Chalk and cheese.

Even though the Man United takeover seems to have stalled, Erik ten Hag has still been a major player in the transfer window and, with the possible exception of Harry Kane who was unlikely to ever be sold to a Premier League rival by Daniel Levy in any event, the Dutchman has landed his major targets.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund are all stellar recruits, and if ten Hag can integrate them as he expects, the Red Devils could take some stopping in 2023/24.

There’s a long, long way to go of course, and injuries and loss of form to key players can all dictate how the season ends up.

Ten Hag can control a decent portion of things but not everything, and it’s the unexpected quirks during a campaign that can often derail the pursuit of success.

Not to mention that the manager will be under added pressure to deliver.

‘Given takeover uncertainty and Financial Fair Play constraints, Erik ten Hag will be delighted with the transfer window so far,’ journalist, Ben Jacobs, wrote in his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack.

‘[…] Manchester United look stronger than last season on paper. However, there is also more pressure on them compared to Newcastle to qualify for the Champions League. Luckily, they have plenty of experience in the squad.’

For his debut season in the Premier League, things couldn’t really have gone much better for ten Hag, and he’s unlikely to deviate from a way of working that has brought him demonstrable success firstly at Ajax and, to an extent, at United in 2022/23.

There is plenty of room for growth in the squad and the pressure should be something that’s exciting for the players and staff because it means that things are heading in the right direction.

Manchester United midfielder Fred has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 30-year-old Brazilian international is expected to move on and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that a sale could advance this week.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder has had a mixed spell since his move to Old Trafford and he needs to leave the club in order to play regularly.

Fred is no longer a key starter for Manchester United and he is unlikely to get ample game time next season.

The Brazilian will be hoping to play regularly next season and moving away from Old Trafford would be ideal for all parties.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly looking to bring in midfield reinforcements and Fred could find himself further down the pecking order if he ends up staying at the club.

In addition to that, Manchester United are also negotiating with Real Sociedad for the transfer of Donny van de Beek.

The Dutch international has had a nightmare spell at the club since joining them from Ajax. Persistent injury problems have stopped him from showcasing his qualities in the Premier League and he needs a fresh start at the stage of his career.

He was regarded as one of the best young midfield talents in Europe at one point in time, but the player is in serious danger of fading into oblivion now.

A move away from Old Trafford would be ideal for both players and Manchester United will be hoping to use the proceeds from their sales to improve their squad.

Manchester United expect Fred to leave the club very soon, with this week potentially crucial to determining the Brazil international’s future, according to Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside.

Fred no longer looks to be as important a player for Man Utd as he has been in recent years, and the club would surely do well to offload him this summer and bring in an upgrade in the middle of the park.

Sofyan Amrabat could be one target for the Red Devils, as Romano also wrote about for CaughtOffside yesterday, and it seems Fred’s departure may now be edging closer to some kind of conclusion.

Romano says Galatasaray are pushing to sign the 30-year-old, while he could also have offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, with interest in the player seemingly growing.

“Keep on eye on Fred this week. Galatasaray have been pushing for days but I’m told other clubs are joining the race, from Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. Manchester United expect him to leave very soon, so this week could be key,” Romano said.

Fred has had a decent impact in his time at Old Trafford but it’s now surely the right time to be making a change in that area of the pitch.

Manchester United are willing to sell Fred this summer.

The Brazilian midfielder, who has been at Old Trafford since he moved from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, is a leading contender to leave the club this summer with Erik Ten Hag plotting a mini-midfield rebuild.

Mason Mount has already joined from Chelsea with recent reports suggesting Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is close to becoming the team’s second midfield addition.

It’s not only outside midfield additions Ten Hag has welcomed into his first team though. Academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo has impressed during pre-season and is now a contender to be included in his manager’s plans next season.

Consequently, with so much competition in midfield and Ten Hag clearly looking to move the side in a new direction, Fred is likely to be moved on.

Fulham, along with Galatasary and cash-rich Saudi clubs have already shown interest in the Brazilian, and according to a recent report from the Telegraph, the Red Devils ‘hope to raise’ £20 million from the midfielder’s potential sale.

Scott McTominay is another player likely to leave Old Trafford. David Moyes’ West Ham are long-time admirers of the Scotland international but it remains to be seen if the Hammers can agree a fee with United.
