Newcastle United could lose some hugely important players this summer because of Financial Fair Play pressures, and one name being talked about a lot is star midfield man Bruno Guimaraes.
The former Lyon midfielder has shone since arriving at St James’ Park and seems an obvious candidate for some of Europe’s top clubs, having been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the past, and now very strongly with Arsenal.
Alexander Isak is another Newcastle star that could be sold for the right money, and Arsenal have been mentioned as suitors for the Sweden international too, but for now it seems Guimaraes might really be one to watch, with pundit Jamie O’Hara strongly suggesting he already knows what’s going to happen with the 26-year-old this summer.
Talking to a Newcastle fan on talkSPORT, O’Hara said: “We will give you £60 million for him (Isak). We will take him off your hands. Bruno will go to Arsenal as well, just letting you know. You have to regroup next season. You will stay up.”
Bruno Guimaraes transfer: The midfielder Arsenal need?
Arsenal have been linked with a host of top midfielders ahead of this summer, with the likes of Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi making headlines a lot, while there’s also been some talk of Amadou Onana and Manu Kone.
Could Guimaraes now be one to add to that list? O’Hara may well have some inside information about this, given his media contacts, and he certainly sounds confident.
The Gunners don’t often pay huge sums of money for signings, but they did push the boat out for Declan Rice last summer, bringing him in from West Ham for around £105m.
Guimaraes might cost similar money, as he’s thought to be protected by a release clause in the region of £100-110m.
