Burnley were relegated from the Premier League on Saturday with Luton Town on the brink of the same faith and TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara is happy to see the duo go down.

Vincent Kompany’s side were beaten 2-1 by Tottenham to confirm their place in the Championship next season, while Luton lost 3-1 at West Ham to put them on the brink as they are three points behind Nottingham Forest with a game to go, with Forest also having a superior goal difference.

There have been positives for the two teams having come up to the Premier League last season as Burnley have played well in recent weeks, while Luton have taken their fight to the final day with the resources they have.

Both clubs will be stronger having experienced the current campaign but TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara is happy to see the duo go down as he believes they aren’t good enough for the English top flight.

Jamie O’Hara happy to see Burnley and Luton Town get relegated from the Premier League

Speaking after the 3pm Premier League games on Saturday on TalkSPORT, O’Hara stated that he believes that Burnley and Luton deserve to go down and has branded their goal difference “an absolute joke.”

“About time they went down. Nothing came from those games today for them”, the former Tottenham star said via OneFootball.

“Deservedly so they are going down. The goal difference is an absolute joke and they haven’t been good enough to stay in the Premier League.

“It’s a ruthless business being in the top flight and the teams coming up from the Championship need to be better.

“They are going down and good riddance I say because they’ve not been good enough.”

Newcastle United could lose some hugely important players this summer because of Financial Fair Play pressures, and one name being talked about a lot is star midfield man Bruno Guimaraes.

The former Lyon midfielder has shone since arriving at St James’ Park and seems an obvious candidate for some of Europe’s top clubs, having been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the past, and now very strongly with Arsenal.

Alexander Isak is another Newcastle star that could be sold for the right money, and Arsenal have been mentioned as suitors for the Sweden international too, but for now it seems Guimaraes might really be one to watch, with pundit Jamie O’Hara strongly suggesting he already knows what’s going to happen with the 26-year-old this summer.

Talking to a Newcastle fan on talkSPORT, O’Hara said: “We will give you £60 million for him (Isak). We will take him off your hands. Bruno will go to Arsenal as well, just letting you know. You have to regroup next season. You will stay up.”

Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal?

Bruno Guimaraes transfer: The midfielder Arsenal need?

Arsenal have been linked with a host of top midfielders ahead of this summer, with the likes of Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi making headlines a lot, while there’s also been some talk of Amadou Onana and Manu Kone.

Could Guimaraes now be one to add to that list? O’Hara may well have some inside information about this, given his media contacts, and he certainly sounds confident.

The Gunners don’t often pay huge sums of money for signings, but they did push the boat out for Declan Rice last summer, bringing him in from West Ham for around £105m.

Guimaraes might cost similar money, as he’s thought to be protected by a release clause in the region of £100-110m.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been in immense form whenever he’s taken to the pitch in the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old Swedish international has netted an astonishing 15 goals in 19 Premier League games in what has been a difficult campaign for the Magpies due to injuries.

Arsenal’s interest in the in-form Isak has been noted, but Newcastle manager Eddie Howe recently cautioned them against pursuing the player. Isak himself has stated that he will not entertain any more questions about his future.

With Isak’s standout performances for Newcastle, it’s unsurprising that other clubs are eyeing him.

Former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara has advocated for Tottenham to consider a move and suggests a strategy to do so without overspending in order to land his signature.

Jamie O'Hara wants Tottenham to do a swap deal for Newcastle's Alexander Isak.

Jamie O’Hara wants Spurs to do a swap deal with Newcastle for Alexander Isak

During a live broadcast on TalkSPORT on Tuesday evening, O’Hara explained his idea on how Spurs could bring Isak to the club this summer.

“[Spurs] give [Newcastle] £30m and Richarlison. I’d even throw in Djed Spence. Throw in Dane Scarlett as well, he’s young, up and coming. You’re going to lose Isak, gonna lose him. Emerson Royal, back up for Trippier.”

O’Hara’s proposal is quite intriguing to say the least as it would benefit Newcastle in a couple of ways. The Magpies need to sell players in the summer due to their financial fair play situation. Additionally, they need to bring in several additions in order to improve their overall squad depth.

Meanhwile for Tottenham, they may be in search of a successor for Harry Kane in the upcoming summer transfer window. His departure to Bayern Munich last summer left a void in the Spurs squad without a direct replacement being secured. And despite Ange Postecoglou’s men battling for fourth, it is fair to say they have lacked a proper number nine this term.

Tottenham drew 1-1 with West Ham on Tuesday night and as Ange Postecoglou’s men looked for a winner, the Spurs boss took off one of his best creators, with one pundit saying he did not look happy.

The North London club took the lead in the game through Brennan Johnson before being pegged back by a Kurt Zouma header. The clash did not have a whole lot of chances but going in search of a winner, Postecoglou subbed James Maddison off for Dejan Kulusevski in the 70th minute.

The midfielder is one of Tottenham’s best creators and although he hasn’t been the same since returning from an ankle injury in January, it was a surprise to see the 27-year-old being taken off.

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara believes Maddison did not look happy with Postecoglou but admits that the Englishman is not a player to “throw his toys out of the pram.”

Pundit believes James Maddison was not happy about getting subbed against West Ham

Speaking on talkSPORT, O’Hara said: “Maddison taken off again and didn’t look happy,” the former Spurs man said. “And he’s not one to throw his toys out the pram I don’t think Maddison.

“He holds himself quite well when he gets dragged, but he doesn’t look the happiest in getting taken off.

“It’s a strange one for me in a game like that when the game opens up at the end like a sort of basketball match.

“Maddison’s kind of the guy you want on the ball in a moment where you need one killer pass.”

Everton seemed to have earned themselves a point against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, but a piece of dreadful defending cost them a vital point.

Everton showed resilience to fight back and secure a point, which would have deemed satisfactory at that late juncture. However, shortly after equalising with Beto’s close-range effort, Coleman’s unfortunate own goal slipped past Jordan Pickford.

The cross from the right flank wasn’t extraordinary, and despite four Toffees players being present, they failed to deal with it effectively, leading to a moment to forget.

Dominic Solanke was lurking, but it’s baffling why no visiting player simply cleared it away. This led to the ball bouncing awkwardly, hitting Coleman, and trickling into the net, potentially marking a significant moment in the season.

Pundit on Everton’s poor defending against Bournemouth

Speaking live on TalkSPORT, former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara disagreed with a Toffees supporter following Everton’s defeat.

A Blues fan stated on air that the own-goal was extremely unlucky.

O’Hara stated: “You say unlucky. The three players involved needed to deal with it. Come on, you’re Premier League players. That can’t end up in the back of the net, it can’t.”

As of writing, the Toffees are three points above the relegation zone, but they do have a game in hand on Nottingham Forest, Luton Town and Burnley.

The next couple of months are crucial not just to West Ham’s immediate future, but also to that of their manager, David Moyes.

The Scot has steered the Hammers to yet another Europa League Round of 16 tie, and though they’ve been well off the pace in 2024, if they’re able to land another European trophy, his legend in East London will be assured.

That said, and despite the magnificent Europa Conference League final victory against Fiorentina last season, it’s believed that a large portion of the Hammers faithful want Moyes out.

Moyes ‘would be mad’ to walk away from West Ham

It appears that he’s still yet to make a decision on what to do next, though West Ham Zone report that he has been offered a new deal by the Irons, he just hasn’t signed it yet.

The site also note that when a caller rang into talkSPORT to speak to Jamie O’Hara, there was a small exchange regarding Graham Potter, who is believed to have been linked with the job recently.

Graham Potter might be sitting on the West Ham bench in the future.
Graham Potter at West Ham’s London Stadium.

“What about Potter?” he said after the caller had suggested that Moyes should remain in charge.

“He (Moyes) ain’t leaving. It’ll be interesting. I think he’d be mad to walk away from West Ham,” O’Hara added soon after.

The issue for Moyes would appear to centre around the way in which his teams play football.

It’s clear that he’s able to get a tune out of his players when he needs to, however, unless he starts playing the ‘West Ham way,’ he’s never going to be flavour of the month on the terraces.

Even former Tottenham man Jamie O’Hara insists West Ham star Jarrod Bowen is not as good as Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus.

The pundit got into a debate with ex-Hammers striker Carlton Cole about this on talkSPORT, with Cole making the bold claim that Bowen might actually be the better player.

While Bowen has undoubtedly been a top performer for West Ham in recent times, he’s surely not quite in Jesus’ league, as O’Hara says.

The Brazilian has won numerous honours at Manchester City and also starts up front for his country regularly, so it’s no criticism to Bowen, but he’s surely not that close.

“He’s not better than Jesus! Jesus plays for his country [Brazil] week in, week out, what are you talking about?” O’Hara said in response to Cole.

“Jesus is a top striker, Bowen is a really good player, for West Ham.”

Jamie O’Hara has made the bold claim that Aston Villa can beat Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Unai Emery’s side are on a brilliant run at the moment and thoroughly deserved their 1-0 win over Manchester City last night, so could they really follow that up by beating the current league leaders just days later?

O’Hara certainly sounded confident when he discussed it on talkSPORT, saying: “I fancy you [Villa]. I think you will do them.”

Villa played some fine football in their win over City, and their home record is outstanding, so there’s no doubt this is going to be a very challenging trip for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Former Spurs midfielder and pundit Jamie O’Hara launched a scathing critique of Tottenham defender Eric Dier for his performance against Wolves.

In a game where Tottenham initially took the lead through Brennan Johnson, they ended up conceding two stoppage time goals and losing.

Pablo Sarabia came off the bench to score one and assist another as Wolves completed the turn around.

O’Hara specifically pointed out Dier’s role in both goals conceded, describing the defender as being “in no man’s land” for each of them.

He also questioned why the defender remained at the club after the summer transfer window, suggesting that he should have been sold.

O’Hara told TalkSport:

“Eric Dier for me, two mistakes, in no man’s land for both goals.

“I don’t know where he is trying to go.

“He is back at the football club again. We should have got rid of him in the summer. No one wanted him, and he ended up back in the team.”

This was Tottenham’s second consecutive defeat in the Premier League after being unbeaten for 10 games. They suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Chelsea last week in a game that saw their squad get depleted through injuries and suspensions.

That made a difference against Wolves as some of the players seemed to have run out of legs towards the end of the game as admitted by the manager himself.

The pundit suggested that the north Londoners are as good as any of those clubs around them, are playing as good if not better football, and are enjoying themselves under Ange Postecoglou.

His way of looking at the situation was more of a ‘why not’ than a ‘no.’

In the past, the club have had a tag of ‘Spursy’ denoting that when the going gets tough, they crumble, but under the Australian they look a different kettle of fish and O’Hara is clearly confident that they can come good this season.
