23-year-old won’t play another game for Leeds United

Leeds United have enjoyed a reasonable pre-season, having not unexpectedly lost to Man United and AS Monaco, but beating Nottingham Forest and Hearts.

Daniel Farke is likely to be more interested in team shape and dynamic at this stage as, if he’s able to get that right, the results will follow.

What he will need is a committed playing staff. A squad willing to run through brick walls for the German and carry his instructions out to the letter.

It’s a big ask for Farke to get the Elland Road outfit straight back up to the Premier League, however, it’s certainly achievable and that has to be the aim from all concerned at the club.

Some players won’t make the cut for the first-team of course, and to that end, Leeds Live are reporting that Jamie Shackleton is ‘done’ at the club.

The 23-year-old only has 12 months of his current deal remaining and apparently hasn’t done enough to impress the powers that be at the club.

Now, more than ever, Leeds can’t afford to carry any passengers. Players have to be at the top level each and every week if they want to have a chance of leaving the rest of the Championship in their slipstream.

By moving on players like Shackleton, it gives the club a bit more room financially too, which can only be a good thing moving forward.

  1. Learn to read, that’s not what Leeds live reported. Good thing you’re not trying to forge a career in words or something.

  2. it is ok getting rid of players if you have players ready to come in and fill the hole left.if you don’t you make bigger holes in the set up which is the position the club is in now due to many players leaving and only 2 coming in plus a couple of loanees returning.

  3. Shackleton is a good and very versatile player. I think it’d be a mistake to move him on until some of the others who have left have been replaced.

  4. Well he can’t seem kick on at Leeds united under several managers now it might best for lad to move on I know it’s always sad when genuine players leave but if true then its best all round good to luck shacks

  5. Everyone keeps mentioning only 2 coming in from last season. However add to that the players coming back that performed well in this division last season. Stay positive MOT

  6. When are lfc going to get someone decent up front instead of sick note wasn’t that good when he was fit

  7. Leeds United cannot afford to carry passengers? Two thirds of the team will not be good enough to gain promotion from the Championship. The only way out is to be head and shoulders above the rest. We aren’t.

  8. We seem to be wanting to signing nothing but wingers when we should have already signed a striker and a central defender. With all the wingers maybe we are planning to fly back to the premiership. Really I am worried about this season it is looking more like another relegation rather than promotion

  9. Sometimes I wonder whether there is something which we readers are not being told. Maybe Dallas is 100% fit and ready to play? Or Maybe one of the youngsters is ready to step up?
