Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool after the Premier League season ended to take a break from football.

The German manager joined the club in 2015 and in his nine years at the club, he guided them to success in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Klopp built a special connection with the players, the fans and the community and that will continue for a long time.

Liverpool star Diogo Jota has revealed that Klopp still contacts his players even after quitting the club.

The German manager has since been replaced by Arne Slot, who has been given the responsibility of guiding Liverpool to success similar to Klopp’s.

The Portugal international has claimed Klopp messaged him after Portugal’s Euro 2024 match in which Jota celebrated the goal by putting the ball inside his shirt to celebrate the incoming birth of his child.

The goal was later disallowed but Klopp found out that Jota and his partner are expecting the birth of their child.

“By chance he sent a message after the first game,” Jota said at a press conference after the match, via O Jogo.

“He is a coach who doesn’t miss anything, he knows the moments when he should talk to the players.

“It was a word of support for my goal being disallowed and having a special meaning for me. But then we won the three points, that was the most important thing.”

Klopp still keeps an eye on his Liverpool players

This shows Klopp is still keeping a close eye on his players and he is following their matches.

It might be too early to say that Klopp is missing his job at Anfield but the relationships he managed to build at the club with the players and everyone involved with the Merseyside club are going to last for a long time.

The former Liverpool manager will be hoping and wishing success to the new manager at Anfield and expecting his former players to win silverware next season.

Portugal were 3-0 winners over the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday with Liverpool’s Diogo Jota producing a world-class assist to round off the night.

The Portuguese were beaten by Croatia last time out and got back to winning ways over the Irish. Martinez’s side dominated the match, which saw Cristiano Ronaldo bag a brace, with his first being an unstoppable rocket.

For the second, Liverpool’s Diogo Jota was the star of the show as he produced a world-class assist. The Reds forward ran through the Irish defence before picking out Ronaldo with an outside-of-the-boot pass.

It has been a tough season for Jota due to injuries, but it looks like the forward is sharp heading to Germany.

The Liverpool forward scored for Portugal just three minutes after being subbed on during their international friendly on Saturday evening.

With the European Championship kicking off next Friday, teams are taking part in friendlies as they put in their last-minute preparations to get ready for the tournament.

In one of the most competitive games, Croatia take on Portugal in the Estadio Nacional in Oeiras with the travelling side taking an early lead through Luka Modric.

Portugal then equalised just after the break, with Diogo Jota coming off the bench and tapping home within only three minutes.

Liverpool will be without Conor Bradley and Diogo Jota for this weekend’s clash with West Ham but the Reds will have Cody Gakpo back in their squad for the trip to London.

Bradley has been sidelined since picking up a knock against Crystal Palace earlier this month, while Jota sustained an issue during last Sunday’s win at Fulham despite only returning from a recent setback.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s match with West Ham on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the duo will miss the trip to the London Stadium and will need more time to recover from their injuries.

“Both not ready. Progressing well, [but] not ready and nobody told me yet they will start training in the next few days. I think it will take time, a little bit,” the Reds boss said via Liverpool.com.

On the other hand, Klopp has confirmed that Cody Gakpo will be back in his squad after the Dutch star missed Wednesday night’s defeat to Everton due to his partner going into labour.

Speaking about the 24-year-old’s situation, Klopp said via Liverpool.com: “Mum well, boy well, father well and back in training yesterday.”

Liverpool need to keep pushing for Premier League title

The Everton defeat all but confirmed Liverpool’s exit from the Premier League title race but Jurgen Klopp’s men need to keep pushing just in case Arsenal and Man City somehow slip up.

Even if the Reds don’t win the league, Klopp’s reign at Anfield needs to end on a high note and that can still be achieved by winning their remaining four games.

Not having the likes of Jota and Bradley will make this a little tougher, but the Merseyside outfit can earn 12 points despite their awful run of form.

It’s been a difficult season for Liverpool with injuries, and they’ve been dealt yet another blow as Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Diogo Jota looks set to be out for around two weeks.

The Portugal international scored in the win over Fulham at the weekend, and has generally always been a player who can make an impact when he’s fit, though that’s been more and more of a struggle for him as his Anfield career has gone on.

Jota is far from the only Liverpool player who’s missed a lot of games this season, with Trent Alexander-Arnold also a key player who’s missed a lengthy period, as well as Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah, who have been in and out of the side.

Diogo Jota injury: Klopp confirms latest Liverpool blow

Diogo Jota in action for Liverpool

As quoted by Liverpool’s official site today, Klopp said: “Diogo scored the goal, felt a little bit and now we found out it’s a little bit more. So he will be out for two weeks. Besides that, no [other new injury concerns].”

Jota will no doubt be missed, but Liverpool have decent depth in attack, with the likes of Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo able to help the Reds through this period as they look to stay in the Premier League title race.

LFC beat Fulham at the weekend to go level on points with Arsenal, though they’re behind the league leaders on goal difference, while Manchester City can still go ahead of them both if they win their game in hand.

This looks like being an extremely close title race, so Liverpool will no doubt want to have key players like Jota fit and available as much as possible between now and the end of the campaign, which will be Klopp’s final one in charge at Anfield.

For once, Jurgen Klopp is going to have to take criticism of his Liverpool starting XI on the chin.

Only the German will know what he was doing by leaving the likes of Luis Diaz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the bench against Atalanta in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final.

What appears to be abundantly clear is that Klopp seriously underestimated the threat that the Serie A side posed, and it was too late to do anything about it once it became clear that the Reds were on the back foot.

Klopp will regret his Liverpool choices against Atalanta

If it’s to be his last European tie at Anfield for the club, it’s not the best way to bow out, but football can be an evil mistress sometimes.

In fairness to Klopp, no one could’ve predicted just how badly his team would fold over the 90 minutes, and the eventual 3-0 defeat is unlikely to be overcome.

That Barcelona night will always live long in the memory of the Anfield faithful, but lightning doesn’t strike twice, especially with the second leg away from home.

For the likes of Curtis Jones, Kostas Tsimikas and Wataru Endo et al, this tie presented the perfect opportunity for them to stake their claim for a more permanent residency in the Reds starting XI, but they blew it. Big style.

Not only was it Liverpool’s first home defeat of any description in 14 months, but as TNT Sports announced in live commentary, it’s also the worst European defeat ever at Anfield.

A defeat that gives Klopp and his men a proverbial mountain to climb in Italy next week.

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has backed one Liverpool player to potentially make the difference in the race for the Premier League title.

Diogo Jota has returned to full training, Jurgen Klopp has stated, after the Portuguese international was stretchered off in the game against Brentford back in February.

With just seven games remaining, the Premier League title race is at its most intense, with Arsenal leading the pack by a mere point, closely followed by Liverpool, level on points but trailing in goal difference. Manchester City, just one point adrift, loom ominously behind.

Despite grappling with significant injury setbacks, Liverpool have shown remarkable resilience, not only maintaining their title challenge but also clinching the Carabao Cup and progressing to the Europa League quarter-finals.

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has labelled one particular Reds player as “invaluable” as Liverpool aim to record their second Premier League title under Klopp.

Diogo Jota named as "invaluable" to Liverpool and called a better finisher than Salah by Paul Merson.

Paul Merson labels Diogo Jota as “invaluable” to Liverpool

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson said: “One player whose return will be invaluable to the German manager is Diogo Jota. I think he’s Liverpool’s best finisher ahead of Mohamed Salah and if he had played, Klopp and co. would have emerged victorious against Manchester United,” via Liverpool Echo.

Jota has netted 14 goals in 28 matches this season, earning praise from Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher, who hailed the 27-year-old as the club’s most proficient finisher in recent decades.

Unfortunately, the Portuguese forward has struggled staying injury-free this term but his importance to the team is underlined in his goal contribution stats.

He has been named on the bench for Liverpool’s home leg against Atalanta on Thursday evening.

Liverpool look set for a major boost this week as Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out the returns of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota for Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Atalanta.

All three stars are big players for the Reds but Klopp’s team have got along fine without them across the last few weeks. The only setbacks Liverpool have had came at Old Trafford as the Manchester club knocked them out of the FA Cup and held them to a draw in the Premier League on Sunday.

The trio will arrive back with Liverpool still in the hunt for both the Premier League and Europa League and Klopp has not ruled them out of the squad for the Reds’ match with Atalanta on Thursday at Anfield.

When asked about the trio returning to training during his press conference on Wednesday, Klopp said via James Pearce:  “What it means for tomorrow, I don’t know yet. Stefan is different as he was out for longer.”

Injury returns a big boost for Liverpool’s title hopes

Alisson is regarded by many as the best goalkeeper on the planet and his return will be welcomed during a time of the season when big saves can be the difference between winning a trophy or not.

Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s most creative player and he steps into midfielder better than any other full-back in Klopp’s squad, which is a key part of how the German coach’s team plays.

As for Jota, the Portuguese star is arguably the best finisher the Reds have and they might have come away from the Man United match with all three points on Sunday if the forward was available.

All three will certainly play a role between now and the end of the season and it will be a big boost for the fans’ hopes when they see the trio on the pitch again.

Jurgen Klopp is preparing his Liverpool side for an important run-in.

The Merseyside giants currently sit top of the Premier League table, two points clear of Arsenal and three clear of defending champions Manchester City.

The first of nine incredibly important league games will take place on Thursday evening at home against Chris Wilder’s relegation favourites Sheffield United.

And tomorrow night’s matchup against the Blades could be a must-win before kick off with Arsenal and City both set to play 24 hours earlier.

Liverpool injury news: Curtis Jones in line to return against Sheffield United

However, boosting the Reds’ hopes of securing what would be their 21st league win of the season, Klopp, as per journalist Neil Jones, has confirmed midfielder Curtis Jones is in line to make his long-awaited return from injury.

Jones, 23, has not featured since he suffered an ankle sprain during Liverpool’s 4-1 win at Brentford in February.

Curtis Jones picked up an injury against Brentford back in February.

However, his manager, who spoke to reporters ahead of tomorrow night’s game, revealed the 23-year-old is ‘in contention’ to feature — probably off the bench considering the length of time he’s been out.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Joto boost

Going on to confirm Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota are also close to returning after both suffering knee-related injuries, Klopp said: “Diogo [Jota] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] can be part of team training next week.”

There is also good news for goalkeeper Alisson. The Brazilian suffered a hamstring injury and, like Jones, has not featured since February.

“Alisson looks good as well,” Klopp added. “In his mind as well, next week, parts of team training.”

Thursday night’s game at Anfield, which is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. (UK time), will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 2.
