Padma Lakshmi shares her go-to advice for young people; draws mixed reactions

Padma Lakshmi, a renowned chef, author, and television host, never misses a chance to entice her fans through her culinary expertise. Beyond that, she wields an empowering voice, fearlessly sharing candid opinions across a range of subjects. Something similar was seen recently when Padma opened up about her advice for young people.

“Do what you love, because you’re going to end up working a lot of days in your life!” she wrote, alongside a video in which she says that one must carve out their career path based on passion.

She advised young people to try to make money out of something they are naturally passionate about and enjoy doing. “Because you will spend more hours in the office than you will like, regardless of whether you are a rockstar or a scientist or a rickshaw driver,” she added.

While several people in the comment section applauded her opinions, others begged to differ.

A user wrote, “This advice seems extremely out of touch and doesn’t make sense for most of us working class folks,” with another adding, “Don’t monetise your hobbies, people. That’s a good way to start hating them.”

Several others, however, stood in Padma’s support. While one user wrote, “I made the transition from a suffocating job to a kind of work I love to do! It’s a true blessing,” another commented: “Padma, you hit the nail on the head! I love what I do! I have been doing what I love for 32 years! I do need to take some time off soon!”

“It’s not a hard recipe. It just has many steps and components to it. So don’t freak out. Read the recipe, any recipe, once or twice through. Get all your ingredients, chop them all, measure them all, get them in line in the order you will need them, and I guarantee you this will take a lot of the angst out of any recipe you cook,” she said.
