West Ham are on red alert after Reims reportedly confirmed they fully expect manager Will Still to leave this summer.

Still, who has been linked with the Hammers job over the last year or so is a boyhood West Ham fan.

The 31-year-old’s current contract with Reims runs until the summer of 2025 and has been strongly linked with the Sunderland job in the past.

Will Still to become the next West Ham manager?

Still, who was born in Belgium to British parents has been involved in coaching in some kind of capacity since 2014.

He joined Reims in July 2021 as assistant manager before taking up the same role at Belgian side Standard Liege in October 2021.

Will Still is reportedly set to leave Reims this summer.

Still returned to Reims as assistant manager in July 2022 and was appointed manager in October of that same year replacing the sacked Oscar Garcia.

Having impressed with the Ligue 1 outfit Still could now be ready for a step up and a big move to England.

He has admitted that taking over at West Ham would be his dream job and they are the one club he couldn’t turn down.

Reims general manager Mathieu Lacour actually admitted that he would be really proud if Still ended up taking over at the London Stadium.

It appears that the Hammers could have a huge opportunity to appoint Still this summer with Le 10 Sport reporting that Reims fully expect him to leave the club this summer.

With only a year left on his contract any potential compensation for Still would be minimal, but West Ham face a difficult decision over what to do with David Moyes who has done an exceptional job at the London Stadium.

Moyes said back in February that he had been offered a new contract by the Hammers, but would take a decision on his future at the end of the season.

West Ham will no doubt have a succession plan in place should Moyes decide to call it a day at the end of the season.

Will Still, the frontrunner for the Sunderland managerial position, has confessed to drawing inspiration from Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe throughout his career so far.

Sunderland have been without a permanent manager since Michael Beale’s dismissal last month, after a brief tenure of just 12 matches. The aforementioned Still is among the candidates speculated to succeed him at the Stadium of Light.

Last year, the 31-year-old head coach of Stade Reims made headlines in the United Kingdom for his commendable performance in Ligue 1. Currently, his team sit in ninth position in the French top flight as they prepare for their upcoming match against PSG this Sunday.

Although his appointment would likely be welcomed by most supporters, fans might not be as enthusiastic about hearing whom he draws inspiration from.

In an interview with AS, Still elaborated: “I was inspired by everyone. I think there are different ideas throughout the world of football that we can learn from. [Carlo] Ancelotti too, who has done absolutely crazy things. But we also have Eddie Howe, in Newcastle, who does things very well.”

Newcastle United’s English head coach Eddie Howe looks on ahead of kick-off in the English FA Cup third round football match between Sunderland and Newcastle United at The Stadium of Light in Sunderland in north east England on January 6, 2024.

Sunderland tipped new boss inspired by Eddie Howe

If Sunderland manage to land the signature of Will Still then it would be quite the coupe for the north east outfit. The Englishman is becoming quite the trend in Europe given the impact he’s had on Stade Reims since taking over, but it’s also his background story.

Still gained fame when he openly admitted he experimented with tactics and formations on the Football Manager game. Additionally, Reims have to pay a fine after every game they play because Still doesn’t possess the correct coaching badges.

West Ham’s season under David Moyes isn’t perhaps going as well as everyone might’ve expected, given the way in which the Hammers ended 2022/23.

The Europa Conference League title was a real high point in the club’s history but since then things have steadily started to go downhill.

At the time of writing, the east Londoners are in 12th position, but only three points off of 16th.

The way in which Moyes has the team playing appears to be a bone of contention with the London Stadium faithful too.

They’re used to flair players and attacking football rather than journeymen that can grind out results.

Perhaps that’s why Will Still hasn’t ruled himself out of taken over at the club should Moyes be sent packing at the end of the current campaign.

Still, 31, is manager of Reims and a confirmed West Ham nut.

“I would think twice about (taking the West Ham job),” he said to Sud Info when the question of if he’d like to take the reins in east London was put to him.

“But would I be able to (turn it down)? I would feel too guilty if I lost (as manager of West Ham). But the Premier League and Europe are clearly two big objectives.

“In the short term, I want to complete a full season with Reims and finish as high as possible. As for the future, that’s my problem. I never had a career plan. I take what comes.

“But I admit that the little child in me wants to return to England. It’s my home, it’s my league. The best in the world. I have always been a West Ham supporter.”

At just 31 years of age, for the West Ham board to even consider his candidacy would be a real departure for them.

Arguably that’s what’s needed in any event, whether Still is the chosen one or not.

Moyes has been successful in the sense that he’s taken the Hammers to sixth and seventh place finishes in the Premier League as well as delivering the club’s first trophy in 43 years.

There’s an argument as to whether anyone could improve upon that given the resources available, however, the Hammers have been far too flat of late and a change may give the first-team the impetus it needs to become a real force domestically and on the continent.

Graham Potter would fit the bill for Nice but the project is a hard sell

First things first, Nice are looking for a new manager for next season. Didier Digard seems likely to leave given that their season fell apart in the last couple of weeks, at around the same time as the club was hit by the scandal including Christophe Galtier at PSG. The general feeling is that Nice are looking for someone who has Premier League experience, so Graham Potter would fit that bill obviously.

You look at their recruitment policy over the last couple of years and there have been a number of players brought in from Premier League clubs. You’ve got the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Aaron Ramsey and Ross Barkley being picked up, and it’s almost like a home away from home for a lot of these guys who have been part of the Premier League furniture over the years.

I’d say it also kind of reflects the ownership and what they’re trying to achieve because Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also looking to get in at Manchester United at this moment in time, so if an opportunity arose to bring someone like Potter in, he would relish that. With regards to whether it would be a good fit for him or not, I think that the team is capable of playing much better football than they’ve been playing of late, finishing higher up the table. I think the fact they probably won’t have European football next season will probably work against them trying to get a coach of Potter’s ability and status despite what happened at Chelsea.

Other names they’ve been linked with; Franck Haise at Lens but I’d be stunned if he left Lens, in the Champions League, for Nice, without any European football at all. Regis Le Bris at Lorient – who would make a bit more sense – and then there’s Thiago Motta who is also wanted by PSG. You have the Jean-Claude Blanc link too and I think Potter is definitely a name to watch for that role, but equally I think it’s going to be a challenge for Nice to sell the project to him and, to be honest, to sell the project to anyone at this moment in time.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Man United supporters should be careful what they wish for

Although it’s been said that Nice will remain a priority for Ratcliffe, I’m not convinced that it will be. This is the third time that he has looked to acquire another club, and given that it’s Manchester United, supposedly his childhood club, it seems difficult to me that Nice would really remain that important should they manage to get in at Old Trafford.

I think given the financial needs of Manchester United, especially to get that deal over the line – we’re talking billions here -, let’s face it, Nice haven’t really been a success since he took over. It hasn’t been a complete disaster but it’s not been impressive. Lausanne in Switzerland, one of their other clubs, that hasn’t exactly been a roaring success either. So you do kind of wonder at some point if they do get United, what is the point of persevering with clubs like Nice.

The fans won’t accept Nice becoming a feeder club to Manchester United either. Of course there would probably be some players sent out on loan, that sort of thing – you’ve got a similar situation happening with Strasbourg and Chelsea at the moment – but these are proud clubs that count for something on the French footballing landscape. To simply think they’ll be there to supplement the first teams at some of these Premier League clubs is rich, and the fans won’t take that lying down.

They want their club to be challenging for European qualification, and should Ratcliffe be successful in acquiring Manchester United, that brings up the obvious question of ownership should either of them qualify for the same UEFA competition at some point in the future. Given that that was supposedly the point of this project, it begs the question why potentially try and lead two clubs to the same goal when you’re going to get asked about your ownership interests in both.

Despite what is said publicly, I do think there’ll be a period of reflection regarding the Nice project should Ratcliffe get in at United but it’s still a big ‘if’ at this moment in time so let’s see how it plays out.

It’s the right time for Rabiot to try his luck in the Premier League

I think the player that Adrien Rabiot is now would be a good fit for the Premier League. Let’s not forget he spent a couple of years at Manchester City’s youth academy before going back to France with PSG so he’s someone who knows a little about the league and the expectations, and I think he’s much more ready for it now than he was then.

Obviously he’s an important figure in the French national team after the World Cup at the end of last year, and being a free agent with that kind of quality, it’s natural that he would appeal to a lot of sizeable Premier League clubs. We’ve seen Man United be interested in him in the past but they baulked at the financial needs to get that deal done.

Adrien Rabiot to Manchester United?

Newcastle are the new kids on the block and they’ve got an ambitious project, kind of similar to the PSG one that Rabiot burst into during the first couple of years of Qatari ownership. I do think in terms of his profile he’d be a good fit for the Premier League and it would surprise me if only a handful of clubs were interested in him.

I think a lot of the Premier League sides that qualify for Europe will look at him as a potential opportunity once they’re certain of the European competition that they’re qualifying for next year. Definitely one to keep an eye on in terms of links with Premier League clubs.

The chances of him extending with Juve have come and gone and I think the only realistic option for him in France would probably be a return to PSG which would be problematic given the way in which he left.

All rounder Manu Kone not ready for Man United

Kone’s a bit of an all rounder and all action, but I don’t think he’s necessarily ready for the jump up to Manchester United and the expectations that would come with that. Equally, coming back to PSG, and being a French talent that they would have to pay quite significantly for, that would also present a number of challenges.

I do think he’s a very interesting profile and he’s expecting to be on the move this summer. He’s developed well so far with ‘Gladbach, he’s certainly on the radar in terms of a potential French national team call up in the near future, and it just seems like he needs to find the right fit in order for him to develop further and reach the next level of his game which should ultimately put him in that top band of midfield talent.

I’m just not sure that going to a team where he’s not guaranteed to be part of the starting XI – which would be the case at either PSG or United – would be the best move for him right now. Depending what happens with ‘Gladbach moving forward, potentially staying on for another year might not actually be the worst for his development but it depends on that project and what they try to achieve with it.

Messi’s move is a blessing for PSG, Neymar could be Saudi bound and Hakimi is likely to go to the Premier League

Messi leaving sorts PSG out in terms of their bloated wage bill, that really takes a lot of pressure off. They have Milan Skriniar already lined up and coming in on a free transfer from Inter Milan, and the player himself publicly confirmed that after the January transfer window. Despite the fact he’s had an operation on his back since, that’s going to be one new face coming in for PSG and has to be accommodated in terms of salary. Messi going is pretty much decided right now and there’s no way back after everything that’s happened over the past couple of weeks, even though there has been a thawing in relationships there.

With Neymar, PSG have been open to letting him go for more than a year. It was the case last summer but nobody came in for him based on his form and the potential costs attached to the move. I’d also say with Neymar that him moving on looks doubtful again this summer, because until he actually plays again after his injury – let’s not forget he’s also undergone surgery (that I believed could’ve happened when he first arrived at PSG in 2017 and something that was long overdue) – and shows he’s capable of getting back to something resembling his best, I think PSG are basically hoping for some sort of miracle offer from Saudi Arabia. I think most European clubs will bear in mind what they’ve seen from him in terms of form, the regular injuries recently and probably look at wanting some solid proof before they stump up any potential money. That’s why PSG are perhaps open to letting him go out on loan with an option or obligation to buy, which wasn’t the case last summer.

In terms of Hakimi, let’s not forget that despite the fact he had a fantastic World Cup, it’s been extremely problematic for him off the pitch in recent months. The rape allegations have become a touchy subject around PSG and my feeling, because he hasn’t been at his absolute best since arriving at PSG even though there’ve been moments, don’t get me wrong, is if the right offer came in PSG would at least consider it. The other thing that they have to take into account is that Hakimi is extremely close to Kylian Mbappe so whilst Mbappe stays which will be the case for next season, I find it difficult to see Hakimi going or at least I would say there are other names that PSG would be more likely to move on. Verratti for example, who the club seem to have tired of in terms of his unprofessional approach to his game.

If I had to pick a potential destination, I’d say England is more likely considering PSG would demand quite a high fee bearing in mind what they paid for Hakimi. La Liga seems difficult in terms of the limitations with the salary cap, that kind of thing, but then again if he was to go back to Real Madrid at some point, I guess that could potentially change the situation. The chances of PSG and Real Madrid doing business, given how things were relating to the Kylian Mbappe situation a year ago, however,  means I find it doubtful that PSG would come to the table to negotiate that deal.

I think Frankfurt would be a good fit for Hugo Ekitike especially if they move Kolo Muani on. Ekitike has been a bit of a disaster with PSG to be honest. There was an obligation to buy in his loan deal which PSG haven’t been able to get out of. They did try but to no avail. Ekitike’s move is being made permanent and then they’ll be looking to either move him on via a loan deal or potentially selling him at a loss. There’s not much hope at this moment in time that he can be salvaged to be a useable player for PSG. I think the main alleviating factor in terms of FFP would be Messi going and Sergio Ramos as well, who’s also on an expiring contract.

Premier League interest in Mikautadze is genuine

Georges Mikautadze’s a player that has interested a number of European clubs recently, and he’s obviously doing very well in terms of his stats in Ligue 2. There’s no guarantee that Metz will be one of the two teams going up from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 at the end of this season as they’re vying for that second place behind Le Havre, and we’ll see how it pans out in the last couple of rounds of games.

Most of the Premier League interest in him has come from clubs that are outside of the traditional top four, but who are looking to break into that bracket of being regular European qualifiers. Given his stats (25 goals in 43 appearances) he could be an interesting alternative for some European clubs playing in the Champions League next season, especially if Metz end up staying in Ligue 2 which will keep the price fairly reasonable by their standards.

Will Still tempted by West Ham but potential Belgian interest could scupper move

Will Still

Will Still at some point in the future will be considered for a Premier League role, but I think English top-flight clubs would probably want to see a bit more experience from him before considering him for a position. The West Ham link is quite tempting as far as far as the Hammers supporter is concerned, however, he’s spoken recently about his future and he expects to be with Reims heading into next season.

They’re already working on their plans for what will happen over the summer, and I think the fact that Reims’ form has tailed off a little bit has put them in a more realistic position than they were in a couple of weeks ago. That run of form was fantastic and put him on the map.

It’s a big couple of months for Still. He’s going to complete his final coaching badge and that will end all of the stories attached to the fact that Reims have been paying fines up until he had that fixed date for his final exam.

I think another season in Ligue 1 will confirm whether or not Still is one of those profiles that Premier League clubs are looking at. Should Reims start next season in similar form to what we’ve seen from them over the last couple of months, then he could be a target for a Premier League club that might not have made the best start to the season. Perhaps around the December/January mark.

When people talk about him they tend to overlook the fact that he’s as much Belgian as he is English and I think some of the top Jupiler Pro League Belgian clubs, especially as they’re more competitive in Europe now, could be a potential destination for him too.

It’s far from a foregone conclusion that David Moyes will be leaving West Ham this season, but given how poor the Hammers have been domestically, it wouldn’t be a surprise for the board to try something a little different in 2023/24.

The east Londoners have endured a tough period throughout the current campaign, with the so-called ‘West Ham way’ largely not in evidence this season.

Moyes has tended to opt for a more pragmatic and defensive style, rather than the free-flowing and passing game that those who pay their hard-earned at the London Stadium are used to.

One manager who has impressed this season with limited resources is Will Still, current first-team chief at French side Reims, and a confirmed Hammers fan.

‘Will Still at some point in the future will be considered for a Premier League role, but I think English top-flight clubs would probably want to see a bit more experience from him before considering him for a position,’ senior journalist, Jonathan Johnson, wrote in his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack.

‘The West Ham link is quite tempting as far as far as the Hammers supporter is concerned, however, he’s spoken recently about his future and he expects to be with Reims heading into next season.

‘They’re already working on their plans for what will happen over the summer, and I think the fact that Reims’ form has tailed off a little bit has put them in a more realistic position than they were in a couple of weeks ago. That run of form was fantastic and put him on the map.’

Will Still

Still has garnered much attention predominantly because he’s one of the youngest managers in the game at just 30 years of age.

Though they’ve gone off the boil of late, with WhoScored noting Reims have won just one of their last six games after previously only losing two in their previous 23 games in all competitions, Still clearly has what it takes to get the best out of his team.

Johnson, however, believes that it won’t be this summer when Still makes his move.

‘It’s a big couple of months for Still. He’s going to complete his final coaching badge and that will end all of the stories attached to the fact that Reims have been paying fines up until he had that fixed date for his final exam,’ he continued.

‘I think another season in Ligue 1 will confirm whether or not Still is one of those profiles that Premier League clubs are looking at. Should Reims start next season in similar form to what we’ve seen from them over the last couple of months, then he could be a target for a Premier League club that might not have made the best start to the season. Perhaps around the December/January mark.’

It shouldn’t also be forgotten that the country of his birth could well come calling, with the Belgian league representing a potential alternative.

‘When people talk about him they tend to overlook the fact that he’s as much Belgian as he is English and I think some of the top Jupiler Pro League Belgian clubs, especially as they’re more competitive in Europe now, could be a potential destination for him too,’ Johnson added.

Could Jose Mourinho really be in contention for the PSG job?

There have been reports on that Jose Mourinho is a contender for the PSG job, and while it can’t be ruled out entirely, I can’t imagine he’s one of the club’s leading candidates at the moment.

PSG could be changing their strategy this summer towards a model built around younger players and particularly French talent, but it’s important to be clear that they haven’t actioned this yet. It’s an idea that the club is increasingly open towards and that the fans would be on board with equally, there is also a debate to be had about whether PSG changing direction like that would be able to meet the demands and expectations of the club, particularly with regards to making a more serious challenge for the Champions League. There is the feeling that, really, what PSG are missing is that professional, winning culture, that would help them as they try to model themselves on some of the more successful institutions of European football. My feeling is that PSG have missed the boat a bit because of the culture they’ve built up in the last ten years.

Still, it could be that trying root through the drama and issues in this squad, someone as aggressive and as straight-talking as Mourinho wouldn’t be the worst pick for PSG. The issue, in my opinion, is whether or not even a strong character like Mourinho would be capable of keeping a lid on this PSG squad, keeping them focused, and taking out a lot of the elements that seem to lead to the implosions that plague them every year. Is Mourinho more the sort of candidate they should have gone for about ten years ago, around the time they had Carlo Ancelotti?

The reason Mourinho has never previously been a strong candidate for them, as I understand it, is because of a sort of historic lack of interest, for want of a better word – Mourinho has never seemed interested in coming to France or to PSG, I don’t know if that’s a specific issue with the project, or a preference for the leagues in England and Italy, or just because he’s perhaps preparing the ground for PSG at some point, if they really want him, to make a massive offer and a massive effort for him.

If Luis Campos stays on at PSG then there could be a good Portuguese connection there, but my honest opinion is that Mourinho is probably behind some of the other candidates being talked about, such as Zinedine Zidane or Thiago Motta, but we’ll see. Mourinho’s done a good job with Roma and if he manages to win the Europa League that’ll be a very impressive achievement. I think his spell in Serie A has certainly repaired his reputation to some degree and there could be a lot of interest in him this summer.

Marseille among Wilfried Zaha transfer suitors

Obviously Wilfried Zaha’s going to be of interest to a number of clubs around Europe as he nears becoming a free agent. The rumoured interest from Ligue 1 clubs such as Marseille makes sense as the Ivory Coast international is a French speaker, so I think there’ll be a number of French clubs looking at him.

Wilfried Zaha in action for Crystal Palace

Marseille are one of those and I think they’re an attractive team for him as they prepare to qualify for the Champions League. I think they’re an ambitious team and an attractive project for him – Zaha’s in his 30s now and he’ll want a new challenge and to test himself at a higher level. Marseille are looking to do smart business, so a proven player like this on a free who’d definitely have a key role in their squad makes sense for them. I haven’t heard anything concrete in terms of contacts just yet, but I do think it’s a potential move of interest for Marseille.

The other one I’d keep an eye on with Marseille is Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun. There’s been a lot of debate about Balogun’s future and his price tag, but personally I can see that link between Arsenal and Marseille being used again, perhaps in the form of a loan, or a loan with an option or obligation to buy. It would be good experience for Balogun, but it also gives Arsenal at least a semi-guarantee to be able to cash in on him, whereas other clubs might not yet be ready to pay top dollar for a player who’s just had one successful season in Ligue 1, as impressive as he has been for Reims.

Matteo Guendouzi has matured at Marseille and could be a target for Aston Villa

Speaking of that Arsenal and Marseille connection, it’s been interesting to see the development of Matteo Guendouzi in recent times. He’s more consistent now than he was at Arsenal, he’s matured a lot, and is not as much of a hot-headed player as he used to be, even if he still has his moments. He’s become a leader in this Marseille squad, and is benefiting from playing at the upper end of Ligue 1 and getting European experience as well.

Marseille would love to keep him, but Aston Villa, managed now by former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, really wanted him in January. It didn’t happen on that occasion but it wouldn’t surprise me if Villa come back in for him, because they’ll probably be a more attractive proposition for him now, with Emery looking like getting them into Europe.

I think there has been a sense for some time that Guendouzi would go back to the Premier League at some point, so I think Marseille are quite resigned to losing him this summer, so keep an eye on what Villa do what that. They’re not afraid to splash the cash, and Guendouzi looks an ideal player for Emery.

Marseille tend to bring players in with the view to cashing in on them a couple of years later, and while there obviously has to be some consistency in terms of who’s in their squad in order to keep them competitive in the race for Champions League qualification, there is a feeling that Guendouzi has slightly outgrown his surroundings at the Stade Velodrome. I can certainly see him moving on with Marseille’s blessing because he didn’t push to leave in the winter window, for a free in the region of £30-35million.

Moussa Dembele will be leaving Lyon and is admired in the UK

My information on Moussa Dembele is the same as Fabrizio Romano’s – he’ll definitely be leaving Lyon on a free transfer this summer. There’s a chance that perhaps a change in manager could alter that, but at this moment in time it seems that there’s no guarantee that Laurent Blanc will be moved on. There’s a bit of a power struggle at the top of Lyon and we’ll have to see how that plays out, but European football will likely be important and there’s no guarantee that Lyon will get there.

Dembele remains highly rated and well liked by clubs in the UK, having impressed in both England with Fulham and Scotland with Celtic. The interesting thing about Dembele is that a number of these clubs will have been aware that he was on the market in the winter window and none of them wanted to stump up a transfer fee for him, they preferred to wait for him to become a free agent.

I think Dembele’s priority will be to join a club offering European football, perhaps someone with the profile of an Aston Villa, someone returning to Europe, even though I’m not sure Villa will be moving for him. That’s the kind of club to look out for, and overall I’d be very surprised if he ended up turning around and signing a new contract with Lyon.

Will Still has done a great job and will have options if he leaves Reims

I can’t speak highly enough of what Will Still has done since becoming Reims manager. He’s proven himself as a manager who is capable of getting a lot out of a limited group of players. He’s obviously well liked by his squad, which you can see in the way he conducts his training sessions, which is both fascinating and heart-warming at the same time. He’s very much a modern manager, but he’s also capable of being pragmatic and savvy with his tactics.

He’s definitely an interesting prospect for any clubs looking to change manager soon, so we’ll have to see if that leads him to the Premier League soon. He’s a known West Ham fan and has spoken about his desire of managing them in the future, so if David Moyes was moved on I think he’d be a very good candidate to be looked at by them. He’s got a strong link with them and I think it would be unwise for them to overlook that, assuming that they do find themselves in the market for a new head coach.

In terms of those fines Still was receiving for every Reims game he took charge of – I believe those actually stopped once he got a final date for his coaching badge exam. Obviously the fines for every match became quite a big story and caused a buzz on the internet, and with his knowledge and experience of playing Football Manager I think he started to get a bit fed up of not being taken more seriously. He’s a serious coach with real qualifications and he’s doing a great job.

Reims are a club that could easily be battling against relegation, but he’s really forged a team that’s better than the sum of its parts. It might be a bit early for him to move to the Premier League, but perhaps bigger Ligue 1 clubs and Belgian clubs (he was born and raised in Belgium) could be monitoring him, so I think he’ll have a nice array of choices if he is to leave Reims this summer.

CaughtOffside columnist Jonathan Johnson has given some insight into how Reims manager Will Still has done this season and the prospects of a potential move to a Premier League club.

Writing in his exclusive weekly column, due to be published in full tomorrow morning, Johnson heaped praise on Still’s work at Reims, saying he’s done remarkably well to get so much out of limited resources at the club, who should really be relegation strugglers, rather than 8th in Ligue 1 where they currently find themselves.

It remains to be seen what will happen next with Still, but Johnson could see him being a good fit for West Ham if they decide to change managers, as the 30-year-old is a known Hammers supporter.

David Moyes is in place at the London Stadium for the moment, but it’s not been the best season for the club so they might do well to make a change and gamble on Still, who has shown himself to be an outstanding managerial prospect.

Will Still to West Ham?

“I can’t speak highly enough of what Will Still has done since becoming Reims manager. He’s proven himself as a manager who is capable of getting a lot out of a limited group of players. He’s obviously well liked by his squad, which you can see in the way he conducts his training sessions, which is both fascinating and heart-warming at the same time,” Johnson wrote.

Reims boss Will Still could a viable “leftfield” option for Leicester City after the club sacked Brendan Rodgers yesterday afternoon.

This is according to Tony Cascarino, who said in his Times column that Still could be a progressive option for the Foxes.

The international break is the time when a lot of clubs step up their efforts to look into and sound out whom they want as their next manager. Even before they have got rid of the present one.

Leicester are in a tricky position. They are not in the bank of clubs who could lure someone such as Mauricio Pochettino, but they should look to be progressive and I would not be surprised if they went quite leftfield, perhaps for someone like Will Still, who has done a remarkable job in Ligue 1 with Reims.”

Still took charge of Reims in October

Still has been a revelation at Reims, winning 12 of his 22 games in charge and recently going on a 12-match unbeaten run as the club currently sit 7th in Ligue 1, six points off the European places.

No definitive name has been revealed as Rodgers’ replacement yet, but it surely won’t be long before the club come to a decision.

To many in the English game, the name Will Still probably won’t mean a great deal, but the Reims manager, who is gaining huge popularity thanks to a stunning run of results, may be willing to take over at West Ham if the vacancy arises.

Just 30 years of age, Still has overseen a run of 19 unbeaten games in the French league, something he detailed to talkSPORT’s Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent during a live radio phone-in interview.

Goldstein mischievously also asked if Still would be willing to take over at West Ham should David Moyes be sacked or left of his own accord.

Despite being Belgian born, Still is a Hammers fan, and he simply said “I’d have a think about it” in response.

West Ham United manager David Moyes is under a lot of pressure because of his side’s poor form this season.

West Ham are just one point clear of the drop zone and they will be desperate to secure their Premier League status for the next season.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham can improve during the second half of the season and beat relegation.

Meanwhile, Moyes’s future at the London club is currently uncertain because of West Ham’s performances and it will be interesting to see if the Scottish manager can hold on to his job in the coming months.

As per reports, Reims manager Will Still is reportedly keen on managing the Hammers in the near future and he dreams of joining West Ham.

Still has done an impressive job at the French club this season guiding them to 11th in the league table so far. Furthermore, Reims have not lost under his management since the 18th of September 2022. The French outfit are on a 15-match unbeaten run across all competitions and Still is highly rated in European football.

It will be interesting to see if the Hammers decide to appoint him as the replacement if Moyes is relieved of his duties in the coming months.
