At a time when a number of activities are lined up in the run up to the 77th Independence Day, the National Cooperative Consumer’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF) — a cooperative body under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution — did it differently. The agency sold tomatoes at subsidised rate in several parts of Delhi over the weekend as part of the Independence Day celebrations. The NCCF sold 71,500 kg tomatoes in the national capital in two days, an official said.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has begun conducting workshops for Pasmanda Muslim children across the country. Commission Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo recently travelled to Bhopal and Indore with regard to the Commission’s initiative. The chairperson said he will have to make more stops to address the issues children of this backward community face.
