A 31-member delegation from Japan visited Sultanpur Lodhi on Sunday. The Japanese team members visited the historic Kali Bein, the holy rivulet where Guru Nanak Dev gained enlightenment after taking a dip. They were pleased to see the transformation of the rivulet from being a polluted water body to a stream that flows clean and proud today.
A press release said the delegation stayed for four hours on the sacred way and learned about the Sikh history. They marvelled how people of Punjab have revived the rivulet and brought an awareness about the environment in the state, the release added.
Many women were also part of the delegation. They said that they can never forget the month of August in their lives because this was the month when the two atom bombs were dropped on their country’s two cities during World War II.
And the dropping off the atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima had caused widespread pollution and destruction. And so they know what it takes to clean up the environment, the release said.
