The Marathi Foundation, Nagpur, conferred the Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smruti Award 2023 on Sanjivani Mujumdar, Director of Symbiosis Society’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum and Memorial, on Saturday.
“Inaugurated by Dr Ambedkar’s wife, Savita mai Ambedkar, the museum has a lot of his things and books,” said Mujumdar, who also serves as the Honorary-Director of the Afro Asian Culture Museum. “A hologram of Dr Ambedkar was also made. Symbiosis has established a library in his name.”
The award was conferred upon Mujumdar by Union Minister for Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at the Symbiosis Vishwabhavan Auditorium. “Along with economic development, educational and social development are also important,” said Gadkari. “Development should not be unilateral, it should be integrated. It is necessary to create a society based on values.”
Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale was also present at the event. Former chairman of the University Grants Commission Sukhdeo Thorat was invited as the chief guest.
