Two days after the video of a Ludhiana woman in her early twenties had gone viral on social media in which she was purportedly saying that she was ‘ready to go to any extent and even become a prostitute to get drugs’, Ludhiana Police Sunday said that probe has found that the woman was paid money by a “local journalist” to give the statement.
In the video, the woman was also heard saying that she was consuming drugs from five years and they were easily available in Peeru Mohalla, Ludhiana.
Additional DCP-1 Rupinder Kaur Sra said that a probe was initiated on basis of the video and the woman was traced. “She is an addict and was earlier admitted to a de-addiction centre four times but she ran away without completing treatment,” Sra said. “She said that she was in a park and was vomiting when a man who was smoking came to her. She said that the man who claimed to be a local journalist, promised to give her money and drugs if she would said the words on camera. They had promised her Rs 2000 but gave Rs 1000 after the video was recorded,” said the ADCP.
