World’s first supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, and others recreate iconic magazine cover

The supermodels earlier shared the cover with Tatjana Patitz — who passed away in January at the age of 56 — for British Vogue.

The iconic photograph featuring models Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz, Linda Evangelista, and Cindy Crawford, captured by Peter Lindbergh for Vogue’s January 1990 cover, is widely acclaimed for marking the onset of the supermodel era. And now, another version of the cover will appear on the UK and US editions of the fashion magazine’s September issue with the cover phrase, “The Greatest of All Time,” 33 years after the original photograph was taken. Only Tatjana Patitz, who passed away earlier this year, will be missing.

The September issue of the magazine, which will be available on newsstands from August 22, boasts an anticipated cover featuring the four catwalk queens, who have long been regarded as the world’s first supermodels. Notably, the women got back together in order to promote their upcoming Apple+ TV docuseries “The Super Models,” which will explore their astounding journey to the top of the fashion world in the late 1980s.

It is significant for them to share the Vogue cover once again, especially because the September issue has always been regarded as the most significant one for the magazine.

Rafael Pavarotti, a fashion photographer, captured the nostalgic shot, which will be used for both the American and British September editions.

“In the late ’80s to mid-’90s, high fashion went from a niche aspirational hobby to a pillar of mainstream entertainment,” the magazine stated.

“At the centre of this transformation were Christy, Naomi, Cindy, and Linda, whose rare combination of extraordinarily photogenic features, born-with-it confidence, quick wit, intuitive style, intense curiosity, and utterly bananas work ethic flipped the switch for the industry. And the lights have never gone off,” the statement continued.

Crawford, 57, looks stunning on the cover in a black Bottega Veneta outfit that highlights her svelte frame. Turlington, 54, can be seen wearing a black Versace blazer braless, while Campbell, 53, opted for leather gloves and a skin-tight Prada dress. Finally, Evangelista, 58, rocked a coat from Michael Kors’ Collection.
