Maintaining a consistent morning routine offers a powerful foundation for the day ahead. Setting a positive tone in the morning leads to increased productivity and overall well-being. Twinkle Khanna believes in something similar as she recently shared her morning routine in a video shared by Tweak India.

“From her quick but effective 10-minute workout routine featuring planks, squats, and lunges, to her minimum effort, maximum impact skincare routine get ready for a morning routine that’s as delightful as it is efficient,” the caption read.

On being asked about the first thing she does after opening her eyes, Twinkle said that the first thing she did that morning was read her emails. “And this happens most mornings,” she said.

Chai, coffee, or smoothie? “I usually have a cup of hot water with lemon and then I have a black coffee. They say that you are supposed to leave a 15-minute gap between these two beverages, but I don’t. After another 15-20 minutes, I have another cup of black coffee,” Twinkle replied.

As for breakfast, the author prefers having eggs. “I could eat eggs for every meal. I could eat eggs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I eat two boiled eggs for breakfast. I crack a couple of eggs and put them in my hair. I am constantly producing eggs. So yeah, it’s all about eggs,” she said.

Twinkle added that she has supplements the way people have candy. “And it could be anything. There’s no routine. I just have a bunch that I make sure that I have in the week so it could be magnesium one day. I have a perimenopause supplement which I love. So I’ll have that one day. I’ll have some iron the next day. I’ll have D3,” she said.

We all wish for days when we have the house to ourselves with no appointments. What would Twinkle do in such a case? “There are slightly strange things that I do and I sometimes get caught doing them. So for a while, I decided that my dance steps were getting rusty so I downloaded a video that said trendy dance steps. And then I started trying to replicate those steps and everyone in my house saw me, somebody took a video, and it was all over the family group chat,” she replied.

On being asked how would she exercise if she had only 10 minutes to spare, Twinkle humorously slept on the sofa. “I would ideally only want to exercise for 10 minutes a day every day. I would do a set of planks. I would do squats and lunges. I would grab one-litre bottles from my fridge because I can’t lift anything heavier than that. And I do some bicep curls, overhead rows, and then I’d suck in my stomach and leave the house,” she said.

Opening up about her morning skincare routine, she said, “I would throw on some sort of serum, tranexamic acid because I have melasma, a moisturiser, and sunscreen. What I really, really love is a tinted sunscreen so that it looks like I have a foundation and I don’t feel like I have put on foundation. I have been looking for the right colour for years. I think I will have to come up with my own. I am not sure. Maybe I do.”

Waking up our brains on a dull morning can be a herculean task. According to Twinkle, she is one of those “annoying, irritating people” who jump out of bed with enthusiasm and greet the day. “You shouldn’t come near me till 11 am because that’s when I am at my best. I can work and I can finish everything I need to do for the entire day. I am a student and I am a writer and I am a mother and I have a candle business,” she said.

She admitted to feeling overwhelmed sometimes. “I make a list of the day and I divide the day up into hours and allocate those hours to the tasks I have to do. Even if I don’t achieve all those things, I just feel better knowing that there is some sort of organisational principle behind this and I will get it done. I have to really struggle to wake my brain up at 3 pm,” she said, adding that her brain is like an alarm clock.

Twinkle went on share one thing moms wish people understood about their mornings. “They love it when children have school because that means you can shut them out of the door and somebody else has to take care of them for 8 hours, and you have time to yourself. So yeah, all moms will pretend that they really wait for the school holidays. They don’t They love it when the kids have school,” she said.
