Two cases have been registered in Prayagraj against slain MP Atiq Ahmed’s son Ali Ahmed and five of his associates on charges of attempt to murder and extortion, police said.
Ali (23) is lodged in Prayagraj’s Naini central jail over his alleged involvement in a case of assault on a property dealer in 2021.
The police said that Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Prayagraj, alleged that he came to know that some people were trying to grab his land in Kareli area of the district.
Afzal claimed that when he along with his nephew was returning home after visiting the village, three persons intercepted their vehicle at Chakia and assaulted them. The assailants asked Afzal to transfer his land in Ali’s name since he wanted to carve plots on it, it has been alleged.
They also asked him to pay Rs 30 lakh in case he did not want to transfer the land or else he would be killed, the complaint says.
Two assailants were identified as Faizan and Altmas; the third one couldn’t be ascertained.
Afzal even claimed that the assailants forcibly took his signature on plain paper and threatened to transfer his entire property in Ali’s name by preparing fake agreement papers if he did not follow their directions.
FIR in the case was lodged against Ali, his associate Asaad Kalia, who is also lodged in jail, Altmas, Faizan, and an unidentified person at Kareli police station under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) of the IPC.
Kareli Station House Officer Ramashray Yadav said Altmas was arrested on Saturday in connection with the case.
The FIR in the matter was lodged at the Kareli police station against Ali, Asaad, and Imran .
