In his maiden visit to Wayanad after being reinstated as Lok Sabha MP, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Saturday will address a public meeting at the annual Nehru Trophy boat race in Alappuzha, Kerala.
Rahul Gandhi left for his parliamentary constituency in Kerala on Friday from his residence in Delhi. He will also be attending a district Congress Committee meeting, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Working President VT Siddique told news agency ANI.
The visit comes after the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Monday restored the membership of Gandhi following the Supreme Court’s stay on his conviction in criminal defamation case over his 2019 remarks on the Modi surname.
Gandhi was disqualified from the House in March this year following the conviction and a two-year jail term awarded to him by a Surat court.
