Dejected by the loss of over Rs 4 lakh while playing an online Ludo game, a 26-year-old Bengaluru homemaker reportedly left her house along with her two children by leaving behind an apology letter for her husband. One child is six years old, while the other is barely one.
The police said the woman got addicted to online gaming. A year ago, she lost Rs 50,000 and pledged gold ornaments worth Rs 1.25 lakh to continue playing. But she lost money again. Later, she took a loan of Rs 1.75 lakh from her relatives without the knowledge of her husband.
When her husband came to know about it, she promised that it would not happen again. But on July 19, the woman pledged gold ornaments again and in lieu took Rs 1.20 lakh to play the online ludo game. The husband then informed the parents of his wife and advised her not to play.
On August 8, the husband picked up their elder child from school and dropped the kid home around 3 pm before going to work. Around 4.45 pm, when he tried to call his wife, her mobile phone was switched off. He came back and found the door locked. The man then opened the door with his spare keys and discovered the note in the living room.
The woman allegedly wrote, “I beg your apology… I am taking the money kept at home. Please forgive me.”
The police have registered a missing case but are yet to trace the woman and the children.
