Veteran actor Saira Banu took to her Instagram handle and shared two unseen pictures of her late husband, Dilip Kumar, with Dharmendra. Alongside the photos, Saira wrote a detailed post about how the friendship between Dharmendra and Dilip developed over the years. She also shared a funny incident when Dharmendra managed to enter Dilip’s house without being noticed.
Saira mentioned that in 1952, Dharmendra traveled from Ludhiana to Mumbai after he was deeply moved by the movie Shaheed. He wanted to meet his Dilip Kumar so he found his house in Bandra, entered and saw Dilip asleep on a sofa. However, when Dilip woke up and called his staff, Dharamemdra hurriedly left.
Saira explained that six years later, he returned to Mumbai for a talent contest. Through his sister Farida, he got to meet Dilip, who treated him like a brother. She said one chilly night, Dilip gave him a sweater to wear home and from then on, Dharmendra started visiting the actor without appointments.

She further recalled, “I remember one night before the mahurat launch of Sunny’s film ‘Betaab’, Dharam Ji reached Sahib’s house at midnight and went upstairs, spreading Sunny’s huge photographs on display for him to see, and then sheepishly disclosed that the heroine was Nasir Bhai’s and Begum Para’s relative Amrita Singh. He encouraged Dharam Ji and made him feel at home in the wee hours of that morning.”
Saira also revealed that Dharmendra has a picture of Dilip in his house. She mentioned how Dharmendra used to jokingly say that she was his competition for Dilip’s love. Saira added that despite their close bond, they only worked together in the film Paari.
