The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Puwad) on Sunday held a protest at Zirakpur over raid by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at the Khalsa Aid and violence in Manipur. The farmers criticised the raid on the Khalsa Aid office in Patiala.
The president of the union, Tarlochan Singh, said that Khalsa Aid had been working at places where people are suffering from natural calamities like floods and even in the war zones in various countries. NIA’s raids on the office of the Khalsa Aid is condemnable.
Singh said that the Khalsa Aid was targeted due to some other reasons. “Similarly, in Manipur, people have been killed and the government remained silent. Thousands of people have been rendered homeless due to the violence and many have lost their lives,” the president of the farmers’ union added.
Singh stated that when the members of the ruling BJP will come to seek votes next year, they would ask them about
the deaths of 700 farmers who died during the farmers’ protest.
